One day, my friends and I were so taken up with our chit chatting when it suddenly dawn on us that we have not taken our lunch yet. Looking at the clock, it was past 1.30 pm. We had no idea where to go or what to eat.
Then someone suggested that we go to a place where they serve "confinement" and home made dishes. Confinement dishes are dishes served to women after the deliverance of their babies to give warmth and nourishment to their bodies. The confinement period is usually 30 days from the day of birth of baby.
The frame up consists of matchsticks boxes.

Haven't you yet learned that
your body is the home of the Holy Spirit God gave you,
and that He lives within you?
Your own body does not belong to you.
For God has bought you with a great price.
So use every part of your body
to give glory back to God because He owns it.

ReplyDeleteHugs,
JB
Hi Julia, the confinement food is to give nourishment and health to the women after giving birth and also to be able to provide sufficient milk. The confinement food is also to take away wind from the women's bodies.

DeleteThe first time I heard of confinement was here in Malaysia after my neighbour had her baby. She is local and her husband is from Europe so there were some interesting 'conversations' about the do's and don'ts after birth. :-)
ReplyDeleteEvery race here practiced their confinement differently and their confinement dishes can be very different too.
DeleteConfinement food i have heard of, thinking it's what we would call an old fashioned idea. No offense meant :) looks very nice food..
ReplyDeleteHi Margaret, don't worry because I am not offended. Yes, in today's society and to most modern people, many considered this confinement thing to be old fashioned. Yes, there are many things we have done without but these dishes remained a favourite for both in confinement and for normal people.
DeleteI loved hard boiled potato

DeleteIn Russian culture we also have confinement dishes and then some restrictions with food while breast feeding. It's very good that you have places which serve home made confinement food, makes it so convenient for many women.
