2 weeks ago, we were shopping at the Aeon Big in Falim. I saw that the fishes were very fresh and I bought 2 fishes (ikan cencaru in Malay) for stuffing. Hubby and I love this dish and it has been long time since I made stuffed fish.
After the fishes have been washed and slit, they were stuffed with spicy paste. I do not have banana leaves but I have a lot of pandan or screwpine leaves so I used screwpines leaves to wrap around the fishes. I used toothpicks to hold the leaves in place.

I pan fried the wrapped fishes with a little oil in my kuali or frying pan.
After frying, I removed the pandan or screwpine leaves.
These fishes are ready to be served and eaten with white rice.
These Malabar Spinach leaves were harvested from my garden.
The leaves were blanched and drizzled with garlic oil, oyster sauce and soy sauce.
I also added 2 fried eggs.
I steamed a small portion rice for hubby.
No rice for me because I have to finish all the remaining dishes.
Saw this dog resting on the grass at the park during our morning walk at the park. We haven't been walking for the past few mornings due to the bad haze condition.

Because the Lord is my Shepherd, I have everything I need!
He lets me rest in the meadow grass and
leads me beside the quiet streams. He gives me new strength.
He helps me do what honors him the most.

ReplyDeleteIt is usually grilled or pan fried.

ReplyDeleteThat is the easiest way of cooking eggs.
DeleteThis cencaru sumbat is something I've never tried, seems to be a lot of work. Yours looks even better with its pandan blanket.
ReplyDeleteThe extra work is the sambal. If the sambal is precooked in bulk, then the work is easier.
