~~~~~
We detoured and walked over to where the shops are to buy breakfast.
Hubby bought nasi lemak and 2 hum chim peang.
I wanted to eat crackers with orange + ginger jam.
Mangosteen is one of my favourite fruits. I bought these for RM4 per kilo. Some places are now selling RM5 to RM6 per kilo.
Mangosteen is claimed to have cooling effect and helps to cool down our body heat especially after consuming lots of durians.
We love this sweet, sourish juicy white pulp.
Can you spot the mourning dove under my porch.
There were actually 2 and they were cooing to each other.
~~~~~
The weather was hot and humid and I went into lazy mode.
Hubby went out to buy take away food.
He chose 3 types of dishes: Fried black pomfret, sweet sour mustard green and stinky beans with minced pork.
He also bought 2 portion of rice.
Ending this post with an evening sky shot.
Hope it will rain later in the night.
What is faith? It is the confident assurance
hat something we want is going to happen.
It is the certainty that what we hope for is waiting for us,
even though we cannot see it up ahead.
(Hebrews 11:1, The Living Bible-TLB)
I haven't had pomfret in a long while. Miss it..I too enjoy mangosteen.
ReplyDeleteWe only have pomfret once in a while.
Deletenice blue skies in the morning! the weather is hot here in KL too.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Nux. So happy it rained for the past few days.
DeleteI've finished all my black pomfret. Went back and bought some "kilat" for a change, so very nice. Blogpost on it coming soon. I am not into mangosteens but I read somewhere it is good for health, the skin has some special benefits.
ReplyDeleteI like "kilat" too especially deep fried. I don't know about the special benefits of the skin. Will need to do some research first.
DeleteBeautiful skies! It will bring happy days.
ReplyDeleteThe mangoesteen here costs RM20 for 3 kilos otherwise RM8 per kilo. You bought a very good deal.
Thank you, TM. Best price was at RM4 but the price has gone up now.
DeleteAll lovely photos the houses are looking good in the sky photos too.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Margaret.
DeleteI love mangosteen! These early morning pictures are beautiful!

Thank you, Lovely.
DeleteLong time did not eat hum chi peang, I like the savoury saltish ones more than the sweet tau sa ones. I am tempted to eat mangosteens now, looking at its flesh from your photo.
ReplyDeleteIf I were to buy, I will buy one each of everything.
DeleteStinky beans are my favourite and can eat them any style! Except raw which some people do. You have a lot of hills around your housing area. Must be super cool in the mornings. Mangosteens always sell with durians, wonder why?
ReplyDeleteI have seen my colleagues eat stinky beans raw. When there is durians, there will be mangosteens, rambutans, langsat, etc...all around the same time.
DeleteMangosteens are also one of my favorites. I prefer the small ones because they have no seeds.
ReplyDeleteMe too. No need to spit out the seeds.
DeleteI like to eat hum chim peang with red beans fillings. The ones in your photo I think got red beans fillings, right? Cos can see like dark shadows in it.
ReplyDeleteYou are right, they are with red beans fillings.
DeleteYou got a super good price for the mangosteens. That day I bought from the neighbourhood fruit stall costs MYR 20 for 1 kg. I like the taste of mangosteens a lot due to the sourish taste. Did both of you eat all 1 kg in one sitting? Cos I am not sure mangosteens need to be stored in the fridge or not if not opened yet so I always give half away and each of us eat 250g each in one sitting.
ReplyDeleteMangosteens don't need to be stored in the fridge. It took us 2 to 3 days to finish 4 kg.
DeleteTook me a while to find the mourning dove because I was looking for a white dove. Just learnt the name mourning dove. Wonder why call a dove, mourning. Is the partner of the dove in the photo too? I just found one dove in the photo.
ReplyDeleteThe partner was not in the picture. Couldn't get both into the picture.
DeleteWah your dinner very flavourful. Can eat many plates of rice. Very good, can get a variety of dishes for dinner. Very convenient, no need to cook. For me, I always choose not to cook cos I am lazy like that. 😂 Your husband ok to eat fried pomfret? Or he sayang u, know u like to eat fish so buy fried pomfret for you to eat while he only eats the other two dishes and a bit of the fish meat.
ReplyDeleteHubby ok with pomfret because less bones. He ate half and I took the other half.
DeleteThose skies and landscapes are captivating.
ReplyDeleteThank you, William.
DeleteYummy on all the food. I've never seen that fruit before. I'd give that a try.
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous day, Nancy. ♥
Thank you, Sandee. I know you will love mangosteen.
DeleteNancy I'm curious to one day try mangosteen and durian. Although they say that in some hotels they prohibit the entry of the passenger carrying that fruit!
ReplyDeleteYes, durians are prohibited from hotels and restaurants.
DeleteI love your sky pictures and those doves are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Gigi.
DeleteAinda não provei o mangostão.
ReplyDeleteUm abraço e continuação de uma boa semana.
