Our journey continued from Teluk Intan to Bagan Sungai Burung where we will be having our seafood lunch. Our leader had called up earlier to book a seafood platter for us. It rained halfway through our journey but we thanked the Almighty for stopping the rain and clearing up the sky when we were about to reach our destination.
It was a Thursday, so the place was quite deserted.
On the right is the 9 islands travel agency.
There is a homestay on the left.
We stopped for our tour leader to pay a short visit to his friend before we drove on to the seafood restaurant.
Our friend parked the car just beside this tree.
Just a short walk to this place.
Some movement in the water attracted my attention. On closer look, I think they were 2 monitor lizards, pointed by the red arrows.
Fishing boats.
Noticed a new seafood restaurant.
Hardly any activity going on that day.
This is where we will be enjoying our seafood platter.
The first time I was here was in June, 2019 and that is about 3 years ago.
When we walked over to the restaurant, we saw workers cleaning up the prawns and fishes. 2 threadfin fish and the long fish or eel will end up on our seafood platter.
It took 2 workers to bring the seafood platter to our table.
Everyone got ready their phone to snap photos and some even took videos of this seafood platter. After a few minutes of multiple poses, we were ready to enjoy our lunch.
Deep fried seawater eel meat strips coated in batter.
Sweet and sour baby lobsters.
Deep fried mantis prawns coated with batter.
The shells were fried till crispy but hardly any meat to eat.
And the 6th dish in the centre, prawns in tom yam broth.
Seafood platter (RM328) for 5 people.
On my previous visit, we didn't order the seafood platter.
If you are interested, you can click here to see what we ordered.
After lunch, I was hoping to buy some Teochew kuih or sweet cakes from this small shop but there was none available that day. We ended up buying some dried shrimps and then drove back to Teluk Intan as we were not ready to go home yet.

DeleteThank you Nancy for sharing about this delicious seafood platter at Hai Yong Seafood Restaurant. I think if I eat just one item each from the seafood platter, I would be very full. Since the deep fried mantis prawns don't have much meat, are their deep fried shells crispy enough to be eaten as well?
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mun. I think the deep fried mantis prawns to be eaten whole with the crispy shells but I didn't.
