Lamb Belly Hot Pot At Da Xia Charcoal Hot Pot

Just as we were getting dressed for morning walk, it started to drizzle. Morning walk was cancelled and we drove to town looking for breakfast.

After returning from breakfast, the sky was clear. The Kledang Hill with mist at the lower part.

That evening was our dine-out evening with friends. We chose this place called Da Xia Charcoal Hot Pot for dinner, located at 14, Jalan Datuk Onn Jaafar, Ipoh. This shop was formerly occupied by Kedai Kopi Weng Seng.
The 1st time we were here, I forgot to snap photos. This 2nd time we came with different friends and we found that business starts at about 6pm. Most tables were taken but we managed to get a round table for 4 of us.
When we were seated, we were handed an order chit.
Fried shrimp paste chicken wings @ RM18.00 to enjoy while waiting for the hot pot to be served.
1 medium size ancient taste lamb belly in clay pot @ RM58.00. It was boiling hot and placed over a charcoal stove that was in the centre of the table. We ordered 4 bowls of white rice @ RM1.50 each. We started to dig in to enjoy the lamb belly, celery, carrot, napa cabbage, bean curd skin, etc. When we have eaten about half of the food, we requested for more soup to be added and the following items were added to the soup.
5 sai toh (yellow tail snapper) fish balls @ RM6.00
Fried bean curd sheet @ RM5.00
Baby napa cabbage @ RM5.00
We waited for the soup to boil and the food to be cooked. It has started to rain heavily but the heat from the charcoal stove kept us nice and warm. Overall, it was a delightful dinner on a cool, rainy evening. Total cost of dinner for 4 people is RM103.00. It was still raining when we left.

Just tell me what to do and I will do it, Lord.
As long as I live I'll wholeheartedly obey.
Make me walk along the right paths,
for I know how delightful they really are.
(Psalm 119:33-35, The Living Bible-TLB)

  1. Thank you Nancy. The price is very affordable. Very nice to have warm meal during rainy days. Did you like the lamb belly meat? Is it tender enough?

    1. Thank you, Mun. If I have good strong teeth, then the lamb belly will be tender enough. But for me, I will need to take some time to chew them. Next time I will have to take a pair of scissors with me. Ha ha like a small child.

  3. Reminds of a day at the canteen, we had lamb. I exclaimed, "hmmm, baby-sheep!"
All men laughed. The only other woman, the secretary... if looks could kill I would not be here.
What did she think she was eating there?!

    1. Here, not everyone eats lamb. We only eat lamb once in a while.

  4. I wonder what lamb belly is. Looks like beef tendon to me. We had lamb for our grand dinner the other night - it will be in tomorrow's post in my blog.

    1. I think lamb belly is the same as pork belly if I am not mistaken. Not tendon because quite meaty.

    1. We would prefer the lamb to be cooked more tender which will be easier for the elderlies to bite. Lol!
