Morning Walk & Breakfast In Penang

When it was bright enough, hubby and I went down to take our morning walk around the hotel. It was about 7:20am plus with gloomy sky.

There was not much traffic at that time.
Macallum Central Hotel.
I wonder if the boss of this chicken rice shop is a fat man.....
The sign above caught my eyes.
"Drink High"
I suppose this sign will be light up at night.
Our friend told us that this is a well known stall selling sweet porridge.
Bubur kacang, gandum & pulut hitam or peanut, oat and black glutinous rice porridge.
They were closed both times we were here.
~~~~~
I didn't ask our friend where he was taking us for breakfast.
Our friend ordered 2 bowls of white curry noodles for 4 of us to share. The curry only tastes good after adding the curry paste served in the spoon.
2 bowls of prawn noodles, also for sharing.
Thin crispy pancakes or apom. Nice and crispy when eaten still warm.
Mixed fruit dessert.
That is all for 4 of us.
~~~~~
Our friend stopped the car in front of the bank. One of us went into the bank and I got down to take some snapshots.
Sculptures of golden rats.
Pulau Tikus means Rat Island.
A few steps away is another sculpture (side view).
A golden rat riding on a bullock cart (front view).
After this, we went back to the hotel, packed, checked out and drove back to Ipoh.

Sing praises to the Lord!
Raise your voice in song to him who rides upon the clouds!
Jehovah is his name - oh, rejoice in his presence.
(Psalm 68:4, The Living Bible-TLB)

  2. Oh, I have no idea about the fat one, but the astronaut is great!!! Cheers!
    How sad he can only look at it!
    I have a little bag of porridge here and do not dare to try. I also saw porridge at the supermarket lately.

    I am on "holiday" and guess what. For breakfast I´ll make myself fried noodles with an egg :-)

    Love the cute rats. Here we had poison for them.
    Hmmm. Tame rats are cute I stick to that. Clever, too. Did I mention cute?

    1. Fried noodles with egg sounds great. We too want to get rid of rats.

  3. Why is it that when I type my comment, everything may simply disappear and when I look up, I would find that I had typed a lot for nothing? Vanished into thin air. 2nd round of typing, no problem at all. Only happens in your blog.

    1. Ooooo...I love pulut hitam! No place selling that here. I last had that in Kuching, 2019! I would love to go to Penang but in my present state of health, I guess it is best that I stay at home and enjoy what we have here - no need to travel here and there, just to be on the safe side.
