A friend gave me some yam bean or jicama seeds. Initially, I was half hearted but later I decided to sow some seeds in a small pot. Within a few days, the seeds sprouted. I forgot to jot down the date that I sowed the seeds.
I use black polybag bags to grow the yam bean or jicama seedlings. I placed them outside in front of my house because I have no more space in the side garden.
Flower buds of yam bean or jicama plants.
It has light purple flowers.
I don't know when exactly I show harvest for yam bean or jicama. Maybe one of these days, I will dig out the soil to check if there is any sign of yam bean in the soil.

A friend shared the following photos of a monkey she saw when she was on her morning walk one morning. Photos credited to Shirley T.
She and her husband was on their morning walk when they saw this monkey crossing the road. They noticed that this monkey has very long tail.
I used Google Lens to identify this monkey. According to Google Lens, this is the Phayre's Leaf Monkey. Instead of crossing over to the other side of the road, on seeing my friend and her husband, the monkey decided to sit down on the road.
Linking to Saturday's Critters.
Show me the path where I should go, O Lord;
point out the right road for me to walk.
(Psalm 25:4, The Living Bible-TLB)
The flowers are lovely. Wow this monkey has a long tail!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Ginny. It doesn't look like the common monkeys that we used to see around here.
DeleteYou live in such a great place! The plants/fruit/legume, food, animals - and temeratures!
ReplyDeleteIt´s a joy to visit you. -2C, cloudy here.
Lately, we have been enjoying cool weather with about 23 to 24 deg.C which is us is lower than normal.
DeleteThat's sengkuang...or what we call mangkuang over here, I guess. Nice for making popiah!
ReplyDeleteThank you, STP. Yes, love to eat it raw or in popiah.
DeleteThat monkey looks quite relaxed
ReplyDeleteDoesn't look afraid of humans.
DeleteI am excited to see your yam bean when you harvest it! The flowers are so delicate and pretty.
ReplyDeleteThank you, PH. I do hope I get to harvest the yam bean and have something to show and blog about. Keeping my fingers crossed.
DeleteThanks for sharing! I haven't seen a jicama plant before.
ReplyDeleteI do hope the plants will give me some yam beans.
DeleteI haven't had Indian cuisine in a long time. No monkeys in the wild here in Hawaii, but this one is so cute.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Gigi. True, this monkey doesn't look fierce.
DeleteThank you Nancy cos now I know jicama plants have pretty flowers. I wonder too how would one know when to harvest the jicama. Your sweet bun reminds me of the white castle franchise. Your ayam masak merah looks like fried chicken. It is not spicy, right? I feel sad to see the monkey. I hope it can find food easily when their habitat has been developed into places for humans.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mun. This residential area is next to an undeveloped area and wild animals used to visit the houses in this area.
DeleteThat monkey better not sit down too long!!!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
Ha ha. . There is not much traffic in this area. Maybe it is hoping for the humans to give some food.
