Growing Yam Bean or Jicama In My Garden

A friend gave me some yam bean or jicama seeds. Initially, I was half hearted but later I decided to sow some seeds in a small pot. Within a few days, the seeds sprouted. I forgot to jot down the date that I sowed the seeds.

I use black polybag bags to grow the yam bean or jicama seedlings. I placed them outside in front of my house because I have no more space in the side garden.
Flower buds of yam bean or jicama plants.
It has light purple flowers.
I don't know when exactly I show harvest for yam bean or jicama. Maybe one of these days, I will dig out the soil to check if there is any sign of yam bean in the soil.

Breakfast on a Sunday morning before going to church.
I don't want noodle, so I ordered a sweet bun sandwich.
Sweet bun with luncheon meat and fried egg.
~~~~~
Dinner on Sunday evening.
We had chapati.
I ordered a chicken drumstick or (ayam masak merah) and hubby ordered chicken varuval.
Dhall curry for me and chicken curry gravy for hubby.
~~~~~
A friend shared the following photos of a monkey she saw when she was on her morning walk one morning. Photos credited to Shirley T.
She and her husband was on their morning walk when they saw this monkey crossing the road. They noticed that this monkey has very long tail.
I used Google Lens to identify this monkey. According to Google Lens, this is the Phayre's Leaf Monkey. Instead of crossing over to the other side of the road, on seeing my friend and her husband, the monkey decided to sit down on the road.

Show me the path where I should go, O Lord;
point out the right road for me to walk.

Gopeng Mee, Chapati & Satay At New Weng Fatt Cafe & Restaurant, Ipoh

This was a Saturday and it was cloudy for the most part of the day with rain in the afternoon.

Morning sky at 6:50am.
On the reverse side, Kledang Hill at 6:55am.
7am.
7:50am - went to the bank.
~~~~~
Dine-out dinner at New Weng Fatt Cafe & Restaurant, Ipoh Garden South.
Hubby ordered Gopeng mee (thin wan ton mee) with stewed pork rib.
He also ordered 2 sui kao (dumplings).
These 2 were extra big dumplings with lots of filling.
I will be ordering this on my next visit.
I ordered chapati with sardine. It was my mistake, I prefer sambal sardine.
Hubby ordered 10 skewers of satay. (10 chicken & 5 beef).
Dipping peanut sauce.
This doesn't taste like peanut sauce but some other type of nuts.
Whatever it is, it doesn't matter as long as it is tasty.
The good people taste your goodness,
The whole people taste your health,
The true people taste your truth,
The bad ones can't figure you out.
You take the side of the down-and-out,
But the stuck-up you take down a notch.
Chapati With Mutton And Chicken Curries For Dinner
 Our day started as usual with a morning walk.
8:10am
After morning walk, we drove out to pick up our friends from a car service centre.
While waiting for our friends in front of the car service centre, we watch some cars being unloaded from this car transporter.
We met up with our friends again for dinner at Restoran & Kafe New Weng Fatt in Ipoh Garden.
We ordered the following in small portions from the chapati stall for 4 people to share.
Chicken curry.
Sardine curry.
Potato.
Cabbage
Chicken curry.
Dhall curry.
3 pieces of chapati.
We also ordered 10 sticks of chicken satay (grilled skewered chicken) but forgot to snap photo to show. All the above food is worth going back for.
On the way to our car, we passed by this bike.
I just had to stop to snap these photos.
Next, we drove to the Ipoh Stadium food court for dessert.
Hubby ordered corn cream with shaved ice.
Our friends ordered ice-kacang.
Our friend ordered crispy tofu with cucumber and yam bean salad for sharing.
We all enjoyed this very much.
Also a small plate of Chinese rojak for sharing.
When we ask the Lord's blessing upon our drinking from the cup
of wine at the Lord's Table, this means, doesn't it,
that all who drink it are sharing together the blessing of Christ's blood?
And when we break off pieces of the bread from the loaf
to eat there together, this shows that
we are sharing together in the benefits of his body.
Fish Noodle & Assam Laksa
This was last Thursday. We were ready to start our morning walk.
Morning sky at 6:59am
I took a snapshot of my Bauhinia Kockiana blooms in the early morning light.
Sunrise at 7:22am.
We returned home from morning walk and drove out to buy breakfast.
We went to our regular coffee shop to buy fish noodle with wine.
This is half the portion of the fish noodle with 1 siew mai.
1 portion is RM8.50
Add on 8 pieces of fried ingredients.
This is my half portion with bird's eye chili added for extra kick.
~~~~~
Lunch
About 12pm, we drove out to collect 2 packets of assam laksa for our lunch. We pre-ordered the laksa the day before.
Delicious assam laksa @ RM6.
~~~~~
We bought dinner from an Indian stall.
I ordered fried noodle with sambal added.
This was the last portion.
Hubby ordered 1 chapati but the boss thought he ordered 2 pieces.
Sambal from the "ayam masak merah".
Hubby's ordered chicken varuval, rich in spices and flavour.
It was a no cooking day for me.
Good salt is worthless if it loses its saltiness;
it can't season anything.
So don't lose your flavor!
Live in peace with each other.
