Bubur Cha Cha & Pork Rib Wan Ton Noodle

Our morning walk was cancelled because the sky was dark and looked like it was going to rain anytime.

Breakfast at Restoran Memorable Good Taste.

This is where we will go whenever we want to enjoy a good wan tan noodle.

We both ordered bubur cha cha.

I really enjoyed this bowl of bubur cha cha.

It has sweet potato, yam, beans, sago, coconut milk and sugar.

These were brought to the table first: pickled green chilies, stewed sweet sour pork rib, sui kao+wan tan dumplings.

On this particular morning, they use lettuce instead of choy sum.

This was our breakfast for 2 people.

Gopeng Mee, Chapati & Satay At New Weng Fatt Cafe & Restaurant, Ipoh

This was a Saturday and it was cloudy for the most part of the day with rain in the afternoon.

7:50am - went to the bank.

Dine-out dinner at New Weng Fatt Cafe & Restaurant, Ipoh Garden South.

Hubby ordered Gopeng mee (thin wan ton mee) with stewed pork rib.

He also ordered 2 sui kao (dumplings).

These 2 were extra big dumplings with lots of filling.

I will be ordering this on my next visit.

I ordered chapati with sardine. It was my mistake, I prefer sambal sardine.

Hubby ordered 10 skewers of satay. (10 chicken & 5 beef).

Dipping peanut sauce.

This doesn't taste like peanut sauce but some other type of nuts.

Whatever it is, it doesn't matter as long as it is tasty.

Braised Black Pomfret With Pickled Veggie & Stewed "Kow Chai" Duck

It was a nice cloudy morning for our early morning walk.

7:08am

That morning, I needed to go to the bank. So we drove out to town for breakfast at Restoran Memorable Good Taste.

We ordered 2 "usual" breakfast sets for us (as above).

We only need to mention "the usual" to the boss and he knows what we want.

1 portion of wonton noodle with the following accompaniments.

This wonton noodle is thinner than the usual wonton and the portion is small.

A bowl of soup with 5 pieces of wonton dumplings and 1 piece of sui kao (big dumpling).

A bowl of stewed savoury pork ribs about 4 to 5 pieces, depending on the size.

The generous lady boss gave each of us a bowl of pickled green chilies. This seldom happens at most wanton noodle stalls.

This breakfast costs us between RM12 to RM13 for 2 people.

We pass by here on our morning walk on most mornings.

Our dine-out evening with friends at Restoran Wong Sheng, Ipoh.

Blanched pak choy with slices of canned bailing mushroom.

Stewed duck or "kao chai" duck.

"Kao chai" means puppy in Cantonese. It is just a name given to the dish.

Fried black pomfret topped with pickled vegetables, meat slices, tofu, tomatoes, and etc. It was a nice and satisfying dinner for 4 of us. Dinner including rice and hot water for Chinese tea = RM106.

HK Chee Cheong Fun, Mee Jawa, Fried Noodle & Sizzling Noodle

This was Saturday, the 5th day of Chinese New Year celebration. 

Morning sky at 7:25am.

7:37am - Ipoh town

Hubby wanted to have breakfast in town so we went to Restoran Tet Shin.

I ordered steamed rice flour rolls with bbq pork filling (HK rolled chee cheong fun with char siew).

Hubby ordered the Jawa Mee which is one of our favourites.

And we also ordered some wonton and 2 sui kao (dumplings) from another stall.

It was served with pickled green chilies and hubby requested for mustard sauce and it came with some sweet sauce.

We ordered kopi-C kosong (without sugar) and Chinese tea.

That morning I harvested the first fruit from the current white bitter gourd plants.

Pearl white bitter gourd.

2 long beans kept for seeds for future sowing.

Seeds given to a friend who has also started to plant edibles.

Lunch at the nearby GP food court.

No home cooking because younger son wanted to eat out.

I ordered fried noodle and I was given this to take back to place on our table.

My fried noodle (char koay teow with duck egg).

Tastewise was good but the noodle was a bit too soft for my liking.

Hubby ordered sizzling noodle with chicken and egg.

I didn't take snapshot of son's lunch.

Sweet Sour Mustard Green For Dinner

The sunrise shots were taken last Friday.

Dine-in breakfast.

Again, we chose a table for 2 people at the 5 foot way to avoid sitting inside the shop. It was early and there were only a handful of dine-in customers.

I ordered this hand torn pan mee which I enjoyed very much.

I also ordered 2 dumplings (sui kao) to share with hubby.

Hubby ordered noodle from the yeong tau fu stall. These were some of the stuffed ingredients he ordered which were quite good.

I get to see this side and back view of the building from where I sat.

I bought 4 packets of Nyonya kuih from the coffee shop and gave 2 packs to my neighbour. This is one of the places selling nice Nyonya kuih.

We had only 1 dish for dinner.

A friend gave me a big tub of stewed chicken with dried shiitake mushrooms. I quickly went out to buy some mustard green to add to the stewed chicken. Add in some dried chilies and assam keping for flavour. Gave some to neighbour and we finished the whole thing with steamed rice.
