Updates From My Garden

I am still having poor appetite but still have to eat or else my gastric or wind problem will get worse.

So after morning walk, went to eat rolled chee cheong fun. It is steamed rice flour with yam bean filling with non spicy gravy. Hubby had his with curry gravy.
I have to take my time to chew because it so happened that that morning the yam bean was not cooked till soft.
4 pieces of fried fish balls and fried stuffed bean curds for sharing.
~~~~~
Back home in my garden.
Yellow and green Croton plant.
After harvesting the ginger, I replanted some baby ginger.
I sowed some cucumber and yellow cucumber seeds but only this one appeared. Don't know whether this is a cucumber plant or a yellow cucumber plant.
I have yam beans planted in 3 black plastic bags. This is my first time planting yam bean so I don't know whether I will get to harvest any yam bean or not.
Cranberry Hibiscus flowers.
This was before I trim them down to size.
Looks like this is the only hibiscus plant that is not affected by the excess rain. The rest have either died or still hanging on.
Anyone you forgive, I also forgive.
And what I have forgiven - if there was anything
to forgive - I have forgiven in the sight of Christ for your sake.
White Bitter Gourd Stuffed With Fish Paste + Minced Meat
It was a gloomy day. The sunrise was blocked by an overcast sky.
Started out on our morning walk at about 6:45am.
~~~~~
After morning walk, we stopped at a nearby coffee shop for breakfast. We shared the following items.
A plate of Hong Kong chee cheong fun which is steamed rice flour noodle with bbq pork and prawn filling. It was served with sambal on the side.
A cup of unsweetened coffee with evaporated milk (kopi C kosong).
2 sets of egg on toast for sharing.
We like to add sprinkling of soy sauce and dashes of white pepper powder to the eggs.
A plate of fried rice vermicelli with egg, prawns and beansprout.
Morning sky at 7:55am.
Morning sky at about 8am.
White bitter gourd is right for harvest.
I was not sure how I want to cook the bitter gourd. I looked into the freezer and checked what I can find. Then I took out a packet of fish paste and a packet of minced pork.
I ended up making stuffed white bitter gourd with the fish and minced meat paste.
I don't have chili sauce, so I used roasted sesame dressing as dipping sauce.
Plain blanched green veggie (baby choy fah).
This was a 2 dish dinner. No rice, no noodle.

So, my fellow believers, long to be prophets
so that you can preach God's message plainly;
and never say it is wrong to "speak in tongues";
however, be sure that everything is done properly
in a good and orderly way.

Rolled Rice Noodle, Assam Laksa & Cockscomb Flowers

This was one morning, end of January this year. We had our morning walk, making a big round and ended up at one coffee shop on the way.

Whenever we are at this coffee shop for breakfast, hubby will order his favourite rolled rice noodle or chee cheong fun with yam bean filling. He added 2 pieces of fish cakes and asked for curry gravy.
I was curious about this assam laksa stall and I decided to order a bowl to try. It tasted quite nice with the crispy rolled bean curd sheet.
Warm water for me and Chinese tea for hubby.
~~~~~
From my garden.
Last year we had lots of Cockscomb flowers growing in our front garden.
They were all self-propagated and they grew well on their own.
I only had to add soil to help support the plants because their roots were shallow.
We got to enjoy these beautiful blooms for a few months.
Some of the Cockscomb grew heavy and the plants needed some support to keep them upright.
After removing the old and wilted plants, the self-propagated Balsam plants started to sprout out from the ground.
At present, only the Balsam plants are growing and flowering. So far, no sign of Cockscomb plant growing. Hope they will decide to appear soon after the Balsam plants wilted away.
O God, I beg two favors from you before I die:
First, help me never to tell a lie.
Second, give me neither poverty nor riches!
Give me just enough to satisfy my needs!
For if I grow rich, I may become content without God.
And if I am too poor, I may steal and thus insult God's holy name.
Smoked Duck & Yam Bean For Dinner
This was Tuesday, 8th day of Chinese New Year. It was raining the whole of Monday night until the wee hours of Tuesday morning.
Morning sky at 7:10am.
The rain has stopped and we had our morning walk. We walked a big round and ended up at one of the coffee shop for breakfast.
Fried rice vermicelli with prawns and egg.
This is the first time I ordered from this fried noodle stall.
Hubby ordered rolled chee cheong fun with yam bean filling. He added 2 pieces of fish cake. He found the fish cake too salty for his liking.
Morning sky at 8:16am.
We walked home after breakfast. The sky remained gloomy for the whole day.
~~~~~
Dinner for 2 people.
I dug out the above package from the freezer. It was a smoked duck bone-in leg. I can't even remember where I bought it from.
I steamed the smoked duck and chopped it into pieces before serving.
Shredded yam bean cooked with garlic, dried shrimp, shredded carrot and garlic. Seasoning: salt, oyster sauce, light sauce.
This was our dinner with brown rice porridge.
Some smoked duck is very salty but not this one.
Will buy this again.

For a soul is far too precious to be ransomed by mere earthly wealth.
There is not enough of it in all the earth to buy eternal life
for just one soul, to keep it out of hell.
(Psalm 49:8-9, The Living Bible-TLB)

HK Chee Cheong Fun, Mee Jawa, Fried Noodle & Sizzling Noodle

This was Saturday, the 5th day of Chinese New Year celebration.

Morning sky at 7:25am.
7:37am - Ipoh town
Hubby wanted to have breakfast in town so we went to Restoran Tet Shin.
I ordered steamed rice flour rolls with bbq pork filling (HK rolled chee cheong fun with char siew).
Hubby ordered the Jawa Mee which is one of our favourites.
And we also ordered some wonton and 2 sui kao (dumplings) from another stall.
It was served with pickled green chilies and hubby requested for mustard sauce and it came with some sweet sauce.
We ordered kopi-C kosong (without sugar) and Chinese tea.
~~~~~
That morning I harvested the first fruit from the current white bitter gourd plants.
Pearl white bitter gourd.
2 long beans kept for seeds for future sowing.
Seeds given to a friend who has also started to plant edibles.
~~~~~
Lunch at the nearby GP food court.
No home cooking because younger son wanted to eat out.
I ordered fried noodle and I was given this to take back to place on our table.
My fried noodle (char koay teow with duck egg).
Tastewise was good but the noodle was a bit too soft for my liking.
Hubby ordered sizzling noodle with chicken and egg.
I didn't take snapshot of son's lunch.
Sunset bells from my garden.
Antique opium smoking apparatus from the Gopeng Museum.

Truthful witness by a good person clears the air,
but liars lay down a smoke screen of deceit.
