Mee Jawa, Fried Noodle, Fish Slices + Bitter Gourd Soup With Mee Sua

We started our morning walk at about 6:45am.

Sunrise at 6:46am.
Above us, the moon was still bright at that time.
~~~~~
Our breakfast at Restoran Tet Shin, Ipoh.
Mee Jawa and unsweetened coffee for me.
This is our favourite mee jawa, Indonesian style.
Unsweetened coffee and fried noodle for hubby.
Fried rice vermicelli with prawns, egg and beansprount.
I harvested this white bitter gourd from my garden and will be cooking it for dinner.
I cooked fish slices with white bitter gourd slices soup. I didn't have carrots but found 2 tomatoes in the fridge. I cut the tomatoes in wedges, put in some goji berries, ginger slices, and some wine.
I prepared 2 bowls of mee sua (given by a Sitiawan friend) and some sambal belacan.
It was a delicious and satisfying dinner.
A painting of a rooster on a tree trunk at the Gunung Lang Recreational Park. I hope this can be considered as a mural on a tree trunk.
Linking to Monday Mural.
There are three things that are stately in their stride,
four that move with stately bearing:
a lion, mighty among beasts, who retreats before nothing;
a strutting rooster, a he-goat, and a king secure against revolt.
HK Chee Cheong Fun, Mee Jawa, Fried Noodle & Sizzling Noodle
This was Saturday, the 5th day of Chinese New Year celebration.
Morning sky at 7:25am.
7:37am - Ipoh town
Hubby wanted to have breakfast in town so we went to Restoran Tet Shin.
I ordered steamed rice flour rolls with bbq pork filling (HK rolled chee cheong fun with char siew).
Hubby ordered the Jawa Mee which is one of our favourites.
And we also ordered some wonton and 2 sui kao (dumplings) from another stall.
It was served with pickled green chilies and hubby requested for mustard sauce and it came with some sweet sauce.
We ordered kopi-C kosong (without sugar) and Chinese tea.
~~~~~
That morning I harvested the first fruit from the current white bitter gourd plants.
Pearl white bitter gourd.
2 long beans kept for seeds for future sowing.
Seeds given to a friend who has also started to plant edibles.
~~~~~
Lunch at the nearby GP food court.
No home cooking because younger son wanted to eat out.
I ordered fried noodle and I was given this to take back to place on our table.
My fried noodle (char koay teow with duck egg).
Tastewise was good but the noodle was a bit too soft for my liking.
Hubby ordered sizzling noodle with chicken and egg.
I didn't take snapshot of son's lunch.
Sunset bells from my garden.
Antique opium smoking apparatus from the Gopeng Museum.
Truthful witness by a good person clears the air,
but liars lay down a smoke screen of deceit.
Morning sky at 8:18am
After breakfast, went to settle our errands.
~~~~~
I didn't cook that evening, so we eat out at Kopitiam One Curve at 139, Lengkok Desa Rishah 1, Ipoh.
We ordered 4 deep fried chicken wings marinated with shrimp sauce.
A plate of fried rice (Size: 1 portion)
I was still quite full from my late lunch, so we shared the above.

Remember me too, O Lord,
while you are blessing and saving your people.
Let me share in your chosen ones' prosperity
and rejoice in all their joys,
and receive the glory you give to them.

Steamed Black Pomfret & Sauteed Cabbage For Dinner

 This was a Tuesday. A nice and cool lovely morning.

Starting our morning walk at 6:59am.
~~~~~
Breakfast in town at Restoran Tet Shin, Ipoh.
We ordered a plate of mee jawa to share. I request for extra sambal.
Next, I ordered some fried ingredients from the Hakka mee stall.
Peace Lily from my garden.
Afternoon sky at 1:08pm, expecting rain any time soon.
~~~~~
Lunch in Falim.
I ordered deep fried prawn fritters and enoki fritters and 2 prawn dumplings for us to share.
Plus 1 bowl of porridge for hubby.
~~~~~
Home cooked dinner.
I bought 4 very fresh black pomfret and I took out 2 to thaw. I wanted to imitate the steamed fish we had in Chemor which I posted here. I don't tilapia so I used black pomfret. This is my first time using black pomfret for steaming.
I rub a little salt over the fish. For the topping, I used chopped garlic and chopped pickled white radish (choy poh in Cantonese). I fried the chopped garlic and choy poh in a little oil, add a little sugar and oyster sauce. Remove from pan and place over the fish and steam for 8 to 10 minutes. My steamed fish lacked colour because I do not have chopped spring onion and chopped chilies. The steamed fish tasted almost like the one we had in Chemor.
Sauteed cabbage with garlic and salt.
This was our dinner with some steamed rice on a rainy evening.
In bygone days he permitted the nations to go their own ways,
but he never left himself without a witness;
there were always his reminders - the kind things he did
such as sending you rain and good crops
and giving you food and gladness.
A start to a cloudy day. Nice and cool for our morning walk.
Start of morning walk at 7:05am
Sunrise at 7:55am, end of morning walk.
~~~~~
We were supposed to buy breakfast but saw that dine-in is allowed.
It was my turn to order mee jawa. The lady boss is an Indonesian married to a local and can speak very good Cantonese.
Hubby ordered wonton noodle with 2 sui kao.
Wonton noodle served with chicken and mushroom.
~~~~~
Home cooked dinner.
Steamed prawns with ginger strips, red dates, goji berries and home made raisin wine.
Stir fried French beans with dried shrimp. I added an egg, cleared the last one so that I can buy a new batch of eggs.
An old uncle with a cup of white coffee mural in Ipoh old town painted by Ernest Zacharevic. This mural is painted on the side wall of the Old Town White Coffee cafe, in front of Ipoh Padang.
Linking to Monday Mural.
I will give them - in my house,
within my walls - a name far greater than the honor
they would receive from having sons and daughters.
For the name that I will give them is an everlasting one;
it will never disappear.
