Lakeview In Kampar & Homeward Bound

After Prawn Village in Tanjung Tualang, we drove to Kampar. 

It was still early and we were not ready to go home yet.

We reached Kampar Westlake at about 2pm.

We stopped to snap some photos.

I have been here a few times when my sons were studying here. This is a nice place for the students to gather and loiter here especially in the evening.

We wanted to have ice-kacang or shaved ice dessert in one of the shops in Kampar town but found the shop closed. So we decided to drive straight back to Ipoh.

Sign by the roadside.

Passed by a petrol station. Dark cloud looming over us. Later there was a heavy downpour but stopped before we reached home.

I bought the above snack from Tanjung Tualang.

I bought 2 packs. 1 plain and 1 with black sesame.

This used to be our favourite childhood biscuits, folded into a triangle.

There used to be a folded paper inside the triangles but only a few with coins.

We kids are more interested in getting the coin than eating the biscuits. Those were the days. These days, these biscuits no longer have any coin inside.

Since it was still early when we reached home, I had time to boil plain rice porridge for dinner.

I had some leftover pork cooked with belimbing buluh or Averrhoa bilimbi fruits.

I opened a packet of preserved vegetable with peanuts.

The amount is just enough for 2 people.

A simple and light dinner after a sumptuous lunch in Tg Tualang.

Breakfast In Kampar - 1st Stop, 1 Day Trip

Hubby and I joined 3 other friends for a 1 day trip to Kampar - Teluk Intan - Sungai Burung - Teluk Intan - Gopeng and then back to Ipoh. We were to meet at our friend's house at 7:30am. It was a Thursday.

After I have watered my plants, we were ready to drive to our friend's house.

Not much traffic in the early morning.

We reached Kampar town just before 8:30am and stopped for breakfast.

Some of our favourite food stalls were closed.

First, we need to find a table for 5 people.

A friend bought prawn fritters from this stall.

Besides prawn fritters, there are curry puffs and other items for sale.

We ordered 3 bowls of "loh shu fun" from this stall. The noodles are also know as "rat noodle" because of the short round shape of the noodle with tapering ends.

We also bought glutinous rice from this stall.

We were hoping to taste this fried noodle from this stall but were told that the waiting time was about 45 minutes to 1 hour. We were disappointed for the 2nd time.

We (5 people) shared the following food for breakfast.

Mini egg tarts still in the plastic bag.

A friend went to get a bowl to place the egg tarts.

Savoury glutinous rice with bbq pork and fried peanuts.

This one was with curry broth added to it.

Glutinous rice with kaya (sweet coconut+egg jam).

Crispy prawn fritters or cucur udang with chili sauce.

3 bowls of "loh shu fun" for 5 people.

We added fried stuffed tofu, fried meat balls and fish balls.

The noodle (loh shu fun) is about the same size or a bit fatter than the beansprouts. For the first time, I have tasted noodle in clear soup with basil leaves added to it. Our next stop will be Teluk Intan.

Stopping For Breakfast On The Way To Kuala Lumpur.

We were invited to a wedding ceremony and dinner in Kuala Lumpur. A friend volunteered to provide transport to Kuala Lumpur and back to Ipoh the next day. Last Saturday morning, on our way to Kuala Lumpur, we stopped for breakfast in Kampar.

This is my first breakfast here in this food court.

 First stop, to pack the savoury glutinous rice with bbq pork just beside the food court.

 We have to wait for our turn.

 We bought 2 packets of the above savoury glutinous rice with bbq pork and fried peanuts for 5 people to share.

 A friend ordered a bowl of rice noodles (lai fun) in clear soup.

 A lots of "liew" or fish balls, tofu, bean curd skins, and etc. for sharing.

 Amother 2 friends ordered the above "wonton" noodles with the wontons or dumplings.

 A plate of curry chee cheong fun (steamed rice rolls).

 A packet of the above deep fried crunchy prawn fritters for sharing.

 More tidbits such as the above sweet cakes or kuih.

We didn't buy the deep fried stuff (left) even though tempted.

This man sits on a low stool to fry the noodles on a low stove. We also wanted to try this fried noodle but we didn't have the time to wait for about an hour. We needed to get back on the road and continue our way to Kuala Lumpur.

Those who let themselves be controlled by their lower natures

live only to please themselves,

but those who follow after the Holy Spirit

find themselves doing those things that please God.

Breakfast In Gopeng & Fences From Kampar.

Two Mondays ago, hubby had an appointment in Kampar. Initially, I didn't intend to go with him but decided on the night before to go with him for the drive. Since we didn't go for the morning walk, I slept a little longer. After I have watered my plants, we started on our drive to Gopeng. We were looking forward to have our breakfast in Gopeng.

 This is the 2nd time we were here for the Gopeng's Lai Fun noodle in Taman Gopeng Jaya food court.

 This was our breakfast for hubby and I. We both agreed that we much prefer the one in the Kopisan village,

 After breakfast, we drove to Kampar's land office for hubby's appointment.

 While waiting for hubby at the car park, I took this snapshot of the fencing.

After Kampar, we made a short stop at the RTC Gopeng. There was a farmers' market.

 We took a walk to look at the products on sale and I saw these pretty little white flowers. I was tempted to buy a lime tree but didn't.

 We came upon this stall selling Dodol. Dodol is a sticky, very sweet candy made from coconut milk, sugar and rice flour. It takes many hours to cook and with constant stirring.

 Someone has invented a machine to take over the stirring. As the dough gets thicker, it gets harder to stir.

We went to my former office to collect something from an ex-colleague.

Then it was back to home, sweet home.
