Dinner At Restoran Li Garden, Ipoh

We have been having thunderstorms on and off. When there is no thunderstorm, it is usually cloudy for most part of the day.

Whenever I don't feel like having noodle, I will order toast with butter and kaya. I like the above cute plate.

Toast with a cup of hot unsweetened milo.

Now a cup of milo costs RM2.60.

Instead of crabs, we requested for prawns.

This set costs RM60.00.

We ordered 1 plate of rice and the rest of us had bread.

Dinner At Soo Har Yee Seafood Restaurant, Bercham

We have started to meet up for our Friday dinner again and this time, we decided to have dinner at the Soo Har Yee Seafood Restaurant, Hala Bercham Timur 11, Bercham. We have to wait for the heavy downpour to slow down before driving to Bercham.

We were able to get a big table for 6 people that meets the SOP requirement for social distancing. After we were seated, someone came to take down our orders.

This tastes like honey bbq pork ribs.

Instead of the usual curry chicken bread, we ordered sweet sour prawns bread.

Dinner At Tambun Prawn Village Restoran In Bukit Tambun, Penang.

After spending 2 hours or more at the Ikea Store in Bukit Kawan, we were looking forward to an early dinner in Bukit Tambun.

Further down this road is the Jetty Seafood Restaurant.

Restoran Makanan Laut Prawn Village, Bagan Bukit Tambun.

You could easily miss this place because the restaurant is lower than the road and there are steps leading down to the restaurant.

We had the following dishes for dinner for 5 people.

Simple stir fried green amaranth and carrot slices with garlic.

Medium size @ RM 12.00

A herbal soup base to cook the Grouper fish slices

Curry Prawn Bread @ RM 30.00

Meat crabs cooked in sour and spicy sauce @ RM 80.00

I love to eat bread dipped in this sauce.

Eating crabs cooked in this way can be very delicious but also very time consuming and messing. Anyway, we have the time to enjoy our meal.

Total lunch including tea, rice, etc for 5 people = RM 203.00

Mud crabs all tied up to prevent them from getting away.

This restaurant has been recognised for its "Fair Price" by the Ministry of Domestic Trade And Consumer Affairs. This was displayed outside the restaurant.

I know very well how foolish it sounds to those who are lost,

Dinner At Soo Har Yee Restaurants On A Cool Evening

On this nice cool evening, we were thinking of delicious curry or nice hot soup to warm our bodies. Someone from the group suggested Soo Har Yee Restaurant in Bercham. Here, we got to enjoy both the delicious prawn curry bread and hot soup.

We ordered one "san yu" or snakehead fish.

  The bony part for cooking this drunken herbal soup.

(Ingredients: fish slices, onions, dried chilies, ginger, etc.)

 The server brought the bread to our table.

 So we could watch how she open up the bread

 To reveal the treasures.

 Delicious prawns in thick sweet, sour, spicy sauce. 

 Sambal belacan Paku-pakis or edible fern cooked in spicy prawn paste.

A scrumptious dinner for 7 people on a nice cool evening.

Dinner With Friends At Soo Har Yee Restaurant, Bercham.

We met up with some friends for breakfast at the Moon De Moon Restaurant, Taman Mirindi on a Saturday morning. The friends who were there earlier ordered the chicken noodles (kai si hor fun) for us, altogether 6 bowls. This will shorten the waiting time. I didn't snap any photos of the breakfast because I have shown them in my earlier posts.

While eating breakfast, we planned to meet again in the evening. Some of our friends from near and far have not been to the Soo Har Yee Restaurant in Bercham. This will be my 2nd visit to this restaurant. The first visit was about 2 years ago, how fast time flies! You can click here if you are interested to know what we ate on the first visit. Appointment time: 7 pm at the restuarant. We can easily find our way there using the navigator on our smartphone. Address: No. 1, Pusat Bandar Baru Bercham, Bercham.

The dinner crowd was already there, so our friends took the initiative to order the dishes to cut down the waiting time.

 BBQ Sparerib - MYR 30.

 Sambal paku pakis (local fiddlehead ferns) - MYR 15.

Sweet, sour & spicy Lala with lime juice, very appetizing - MYR 25.

 Baby French beans with crispy deep fried pork belly - MYR 20.

 Signature dish - Prawns in Bread - MYR 80.

The bread and prawns are priced separately.

Bread alone - MYR 15, half kg prawns (8 big prawns) MYR 65.

Shopping For Seafood And Lunch At Kuala Sepetang.

From the Charcoal Factory, we drove to Kuala Sepetang fishing town. There we were encouraged to go for a boat ride but we declined. During this 5 days public holidays plus the school holidays, this little fishing town became a busy town filled with mostly local visitors. I took some snapshots of fishing boats.

For lunch, we had fragrant coconut water, oyster omelette and curry prawn bread. Everyone enjoyed the curry prawn bread and we finished the whole thing.

We also had steamed fish, deep fried cuttlefish and 1 green vegetable. Besides the curry prawn bread, the rest of the dishes were not up to our expectation and the fish was overcooked. The lunch costs RM 175.30 inclusive of rice and 6 % GST.

After lunch, we stopped at the ground floor stall to buy some prawn crackers to snack on the drive home. I found out from the seller that this old worn out motorcycle is still in use and in very good shape.
