This was a last minute decision to go to Gopeng for breakfast and a short outing. Our friend picked us up from our house at 8.30 am on a Monday morning. We drove to food court at Taman Gopeng Jaya hoping to enjoy the Gopeng Lai Fun (local rice noodle) but found the whole food court closed. We then drove to Kopisan village and had our breakfast there. The place was packed with customers.
While hubby and friends waited at the table, I went to pick the yummy goodies and waited in queue to order the noodles.
Here are some of the stuffed and fried goodies for the customers to choose.
I ordered 4 bowls of plain noodle of regular size. After paying for our orders, the server will bring the food later. Service was fast and good except for the queuing part.
A bowl of goodies plus a few pieces of fried bean curd (not in the picture) for 4 of us.
My bowl of Gopeng Lai Fun (rice noodle) with sprinkling of sesame seeds.

After breakfast, we visited the Kampar Tin Mining Museum. I have taken many photos on my previous visit. You can click here and here for more details and photos. For this visit, these are the photos I have taken.
Heavy machinery
Old tractor
Vertical Gravel Pump (1838) Driven By Electrical Power
Old fashioned equipment with rattan basket for lifting heavy materials.
Types of rattan baskets used in the tin mines.
Old fashioned raincoat made from palm fiber.
Hubby and friends looking at some of the documents and photos in the museum.
A model of a cook in the tin mine kitchen cooking for the tin mine workers.
An old fashioned firewood stove
A typical tin mine worker with his hat, cangkul, water kettle and bicycle.
Hubby and friend resting at the museum entrance after the museum tour.
One last shot of a "free and easy" short tour of the museum before we drive to Lawan Kuda for our lunch.

"You aren't saved by being good,"
they say, "so you might as well be bad.
Do what you like; be free."
But these very teachers who offer this "freedom" from law
are themselves slaves to sin and destruction.
For a man is a slave to whatever controls him.

ReplyDeleteThank you, Linda. They have painted the machinery!
DeleteHello Nancy!:) Thank you for sharing your photos of the many options you could choose for breakfast. I only recognized the noodles!:) Those Rattan baskets look fragile, but I have a Rattan chair, and I know how strong and durable it really is. The old style rain coat is fascinating. It looks thick, and I'm guessing no water could get through the woven palm fiber. I love the colourful machinery and the happy photo of hubby and friend.:)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Breathtaking. I am also fascinated by the old rain coat and wondered whether water will sip through the woven fiber. Have a beautiful day!
DeleteSuch a lovely place to visit, with some really interesting artefacts. Thank you for sharing. I would also like to thank you for your sweet visits and lovely comments that you always leave.

DeleteThat machinery vehicle is ALL yellow! Wonder if they are really that color, or just painted special for the museum. food is looking yummy!
ReplyDeleteOn my previous visit, the machinery was not painted. I think it was painted yellow to brighten up the place. Lol!

Thank you, Beauty. Have a great day!
DeleteWhen I was a kid, our teachers always like to bring us to the museum for excursion
ReplyDeleteAnd we as naughty kids, always like to talk about ghost stories inside the museum
DeleteDuring my time, we didn't have school excursion. Kids love to listen to ghost stories but after that will be too scared to go to the loo alone. Lol!
DeleteFascinating photos of the museum and tin workers!
ReplyDeleteBest wishes!
Thank you, Christine. I find this museum very interesting especially with the life size figurines.

ReplyDeleteI hope you will find one and share about it in your post. Have a good day!
DeleteSo many museums now... are they well-patronised?
ReplyDeleteI usually go on weekdays when it is very quiet. But during weekends and public or school holidays, there will be many visitors. Entrance is free for this museum.
