One afternoon, hubby came home from work bringing 2 plant cuttings for our garden. They were from his friend's garden. They have colourful leaves and their common name is Coleus.
The leaves are in maroon, pink, yellow and white.
Hubby planted the cuttings under the shade of the bougainvillea plant.
They were easy to grow and fast growing too. They grow well in partial shade and in well-drained soil. And they do not need to be fertilized regularly.
Coleus are not fussy plants but watch out for pests, especially mealy bugs, white flies, etc.
Coleus grow easily through cuttings. Just cut below the leaves node, remove the leaves and make sure the node is covered with garden soil. Do not over water or the plants will rot.
Coleus have tiny flowers. I haven't tried collecting the seeds or tried propagating with seeds.
Since the flowers are tiny and not attractive, I prefer to pinch off the buds to encourage more branches to grow.
To prevent the plant growing tall or leggy, I can also pinch off the young shoots.

This plant has wavy leaves with scallop edges. The leaves have shades of green, maroon, pink.
There are many type of colourful Coleus out there.
The leaves come in different sizes, shapes and colours.
Currently there are only 2 types of Coleus in my garden and they have helped to brighten up my garden.

But we Christians have no veil over our faces;
we can be mirrors that brightly reflect the glory of the Lord.
And as the Spirit of the Lord works within us,
we become more and more like him.
