As I was wondering what to post today, I found these photos of our porridge lunch taken 2 months ago at Restoran Jack Fah at Jalan Russel, Ipoh new town (parallel to Jalan Masjid, formerly Hume Street).
After eating all the Chinese New Year food and goodies for the past few days, I feel like eating something light and plain. Looking at the Teochew porridge which is easily digestible. makes me think of eating some porridge for a change. This was our Teochew porridge lunch taken 2 months ago.
A bowl of bland teochew porridge with sweet potato.
It is a watery rice porridge, cooked till the rice turn fluffy and soft.
And below were our choices to go with the porridge.
Steamed Mackerel (Ikan Kembong) with spicy black bean sauce.
Stewed sweet sour pork rib.
Preserved salted white raddish & egg omelette.
The Lord preserves the upright but ruins the plans of the wicked.
(Proverbs 22:12, The Living Bible-TLB)
Coisas deliciosas e muito bem apresentadas.

ReplyDeleteI don't think the shop is open during CNY.
DeleteMost of the chinese stall are not open today, only malay stall...
ReplyDeleteThe few Chinese stalls that are open are usually packed with customers so it is best to eat fast food or non Chinese stalls.

Deletethe porridge looks good. i love fish but i can't eat it when the head and eyes are still attached. it is rare to see it served that way here in the u.s.!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Debbie. Over here, it is common to serve the fish whole with the head, eyes and tail intact.

ReplyDeleteThank you, Angel. Porridge is recommended to those who are not feeling well.
DeleteVery nice dishes to go with the congee!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mun. We enjoyed them all!
DeleteThe pictures of the dishes, especially the spare ribs, are making me hungry. I would prefer to eat them with rice instead of the congee though.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Irene. Between teochew porridge and rice, I will choose porridge any time. He he!
DeleteThank you, De. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteI will eat porridge this weekend, we call it lugaw here. I wonder how it taste with the sweet potato. Happy Feb Nancy!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Lei. I hope I can pronounce "lugaw" correctly. The sweet potato will not have much difference on bland rice porridge.
