This was Friday 28th January. These few days, many will be busy marketing getting ready for the Lunar New Year or Chinese New Year. Those not celebrating also need to buy to stock up because most of the shops will be closed for a few days.
We passed by this seafood stall which is only available on Fridays. Just as expected, the prices of prawns and fishes have shot up. Good thing, I listened to the seller and bought the week earlier at a much lower price than these.
I went to collect my order from the pork seller and saw 2 chopping/cutting boards selling for RM88 per piece. My old chopping board has been with me for many, many years and it is time to replace it with a new one. I treated it by rubbing new cooking oil all over it a few times and let it rest for 2 days before I started to use it.
~~~~~
That afternoon, hubby and I had to go to town.
We stopped at the Stadium food court for lunch.
I ordered a small plate of cuttlefish with kangkong for RM10.
The next day at the food court near our house, hubby ordered a small plate cuttlefish without the kangkong for RM10. Both have their own special peanut sauce.
Home cooked dinner for 4 people on Saturday.
Both our sons are now back home for the holidays.
Home cooked Dong Po Yoke (braised pork belly)
Ginger slices & spring onions for lining the pot.
Seasoning Ingredients: Bay leaves, cinnamon, star anise, cloves, peppercorn, rock sugar, dark sauce, cooking wine, & light soy sauce.
Garlic Ginger Prawns.
Ingredients used: chopped garlic, ginger slices, light soy sauce, oyster sauce, & tomato sauce.
Blanched "Yau mak" or fragrant Chinese lettuce, drizzed with garlic oil, oyster and soy sauce.
Saw this wall mural on the back wall of a corner shop.
It is a Mama tiger with its 3 baby cubs.
According to the Chinese calendar, year 2022 is a Tiger year.
HAPPY & PROSPEROUS CHINESE NEW YEAR 2022
