Dinner for 2.
I bought 1 whole small size pumpkin just before the Chinese New Year. One and half months later, the pumpkin was still good.
Pumpkin cooked with chopped garlic and dried shrimps. I don't have spring onions, so I cut some Chinese chives from my garden and added to the pumpkin. I love this dish and I alone ate more than half the amount.
There were some items which I didn't finish using and were kept in the fridge, so I gathered them together to cook the above mixed treasures stew. The treasures in the dish: some arrowheads (ngaku), bony parts of a duck, some pork tendon, carrot, wood fungus, bean curd sticks, and a small can of abalone. There was more than enough to share with my neighbour.

I am still waiting for this pineapple to ripen.
This tiny pineapple seems to be taking a long time to ripen and there are some baby shoots coming out from the base of the pineapple.

ReplyDeleteIngo´s late Grandma had one in the cellar - not so good anymore. Ingo was to bring it out to the compost, buaaaahhhh, the "smell".
We stood outside like guards and she kepps exclaiming, "the poor boy, the poor boy", whilst Ingo made his way, gagging.
It was too funny (I held my breath).
Interesting food again. And that screen is beautiful!
Thanks for sharing the funny story about the smelly pumpkin. Hope that unpleasant incident didn't cause Ingo to dislike pumpkin.

DeleteI can eat the Pumpkin With Dried Shrimp without any rice. So tasty! Your Mixed Treasures Stew is a luxurious dish due to the abalone. Waiting for the pineapple will make me anxious. Can't wait. How many times do you go visit the pineapple in one day? I find the ancient screen quite creepy looking.
ReplyDeleteThese days, I usually go to the garden once in the morning to water the plants. I only go in the evening if I need to transfer the seedlings into bigger pots. So I get to check on the pineapple once a day. I think the ancient screen will look better if it has some restoration work on it.

I used the shoots to grow new plants. I wonder whether I should remove the shoots so that the pineapple will grow bigger.
