Fish Slices + Seaweed With Thick Rice Vermicelli Noodle

One this particular morning, we woke up quite early.

Sunrise at 6:50am
We were ready to start our morning walk.
But first, let me take some snapshots.
The moonlight lit up the place.
Not a very clear picture due to the poor lighting at 6:55am.
Our Bauhinia Kockiana in full bloom.
~~~~~
We had breakfast appointment with my ex-colleagues and friends.
A friend and I ordered this thick rice vermicelli with grouper fish slices and seaweed.
Hubby ordered pig stomach noodle.
Another friend ordered shredded chicken noodle - no photo.
We ordered a plate of chee cheong fun for sharing.
We also ordered roasted pork to share - no photo.
~~~~~
Simple home cooked dinner.
"Lala Otak-otak"
A friend gave 2 packs of "otak-otak". I took out 1 pack for dinner. I finished the whole thing because hubby doesn't like.
Hubby had most of this wild boar curry (RM10) bought from a nearby Indian stall.
I only need to cook the above dish: Pumpkin with dried shrimp, ginger slices and chopped garlic.
A satisfying dinner with steamed brown rice.

For the Lord says, "Because he loves me, I will rescue him;
I will make him great because he trusts in my name.
When he calls on me, I will answer;
I will be with him in trouble and rescue him and honor him.
I will satisfy him with a full life and give him my salvation."

Pumpkin With Dried Shrimp & Mixed Treasures Stew

The morning sky was dark and looked like it was going to rain any time.

This was just before 8am.
Sunlight shining down through the dark cloud.

Dinner for 2.
I bought 1 whole small size pumpkin just before the Chinese New Year. One and half months later, the pumpkin was still good.
Pumpkin cooked with chopped garlic and dried shrimps. I don't have spring onions, so I cut some Chinese chives from my garden and added to the pumpkin. I love this dish and I alone ate more than half the amount.
There were some items which I didn't finish using and were kept in the fridge, so I gathered them together to cook the above mixed treasures stew. The treasures in the dish: some arrowheads (ngaku), bony parts of a duck, some pork tendon, carrot, wood fungus, bean curd sticks, and a small can of abalone. There was more than enough to share with my neighbour.
Our yummy dinner with steamed brown rice for 2 people.

From my garden.
I am still waiting for this pineapple to ripen.
This tiny pineapple seems to be taking a long time to ripen and there are some baby shoots coming out from the base of the pineapple.

And I found that though God has made men upright,
each has turned away to follow his own downward road.

Savoury Sauce Fried Prawns For Dinner & Stages Of My Yellow Hibiscus

I have 2 packets of sea white shell prawns in my freezer. I took out 1 packet to cook for yesterday's dinner.
Once the prawns were thawed, I seasoned it with some sugar and kept in the fridge before cooking. First, I shallow fried the prawns. With some oil in the wok (frying pan), I fried chopped garlic, ginger strips and 1 big onion cut into wedges until fragrant. Then I add in some oyster and soy sauce and a little water. Once it started to boil, add in the prawns, spring onions and some shaoxing cooking wine, stirred and dish out. The prawns with a little gravy goes well with steamed rice.
I cook the remaining last quarter pumpkin with dried prawns and garlic. I had 2 snake long beans after clearing the old plants, so I just added them to the pumpkin dish.
Sauteed Green Amaranth (yeen choy) with garlic.
I overcooked this dish because in the midst of cooking this dish, the local council people started the mosquitoes spray outside my house. I have to quickly cover the wok (frying pan) and waited till the smell of the spray went off.
Home cooked dinner for 2 people.
Steamed rice for hubby and I ate the pumpkin in place of rice because hubby doesn't like pumpkin.

Steamed Pork Ribs & Pumpkin With Dried Prawns

It was raining when we woke up yesterday morning. The rain had not stopped since it started the previous evening. We are now in the midst of the wet season and in a way it provide a temporary relief from the hot and humid weather.
Morning sky at 8:55 am.
I waited for the rain to stopped before I swept the dried leaves and flowers that have fallen on the driveway.
I like to take snapshots of my flowers after the rain.
~~~~~
My neighbour gave me half a winter melon, so I used it to make sweet drink or tong sui.
For the sweet drink or tong sui, I used winter melon, flesh of aloe vera leaves, dried longan, honey dates (mutt choe) and cane sugar. We had this for lunch.
Praise him with the drums and dancing.
Praise him with stringed instruments and horns.
Praise him with the cymbals, yes, loud clanging cymbals.
Steamed Enoki Mushroom & Pumpkin With Dried Prawns
While waiting to harvest the vegetables from my garden, I will buy some vegetables from the mini market after my early morning walk. I have used up all the home grown vegetables in my fridge except for one white bitter gourd. It is too small to cook a dish on its own. So I came up with my own recipe, and a weird one too! If my mother comes to know about it, she will shake her head in disbelief. Imagine adding bitter gourd to a pumpkin dish - a combination of sweet and bitter!
 Pumpking and white bitter gourd cooked with dried prawns.
I love pumpkin because it is sweet. I don't know what to do with a tiny bitter gourd, so I just simply add to this pumpkin dish. No worry, as long as I am the one eating it.
 Steamed Enoki Mushrooms
(Sprinkled with lots of fried garlic crisps, garlic oil, spring onion, scallop sauce and soy sauce)
 Chinese Cabbage Soup
(cooked with all the little of whatever I didn't used up, and needed to be cleared from the fridge)
 My simple dinner cooked with impromptu recipes using whatever ingredients I can find in my fridge.
 Lovely morning at the park after a heavy downpour.
 Sunset Bells from my garden.
The flowers and leaves are still wet with rain water.
A Flowering Pumpkin Plant Without Fruit
I had no intention of planting pumpkin because I know I don't have enough space in my garden. One day, I saw a pumpkin seedling coming out from the compost heap. It was very healthy and I couldn't have the heart to discard it. So I dug it out and plant it in a pot, just to see if it will grow and bear pumpkin.
The plant grew and grew and it started to go onto the ground.
I allowed the vines to go alongside the pots, from the front to the back.
The leaves were healthy and it seemed that the pumpkin plant was taking up too much space.
I was contemplating whether to pull it out or allow to let it grow.
Then these flower buds started to appear and I was waiting to see if they turned into pumpkins.
Big and bright yellow flowers started to bloom one by one.
The flowers bloomed and dropped off with no sign of fruit.
I waited and waited, and still no sign of even a tiny pumpkin. Finally, one fine evening I decided to pull out the whole plant and removed it from my garden.
Stay always within the boundaries
where God's love can reach and bless you.
Wait patiently for the eternal life that our Lord Jesus Christ
in his mercy is going to give you.
