Health Drink (Mo Far Kor + Monk Fruit) & Beef For Dinner

It had been raining almost daily for the past week and the weather is very much cooler now.

After having enough of walking, we went to one of our regular coffee shop for breakfast.
One of the helpers gave me the above fruit. It was green when I received it but turnd yellow after 2 days. I was told that this is "mo far kor" in Cantonese, meaning "non-flowering fruit. From the internet, this fruit is from the Calabash tree and is also known as a "miracle fruit" or the Giant Monk Fruit. I was told to boil this fruit with monk fruit and honey dates as a remedy for respiratory problem such as asthma or cough.
The outer shell of the fruit is very hard and I had to crack it open with a hammer. The yellowish pulp is soft and slightly sticky. The pulp will be white if the outer shell is green. The pulp will turn black during cooking.
The seeds are covered with a sticky sac.
This is a dried monk fruit or "loh han kuo" in Cantaonese. You can buy this from any Chinese medicinal shop.
Crack open the fruit with a metal spoon.
Break up the fruit into smaller pieces.
This is the remedy drink after boiling the "mo far kor" and "loh han kuo" for about 3 hours. The drink tastes a bit sweet on its own even though I didn't use any honey dates.

That evening, we were meeting up with our friends for dinner at Restoran Wing Hoong Lapan at #16, Jalan Centrepoint 1, Off Jalan Tokong.
Hubby ordered his favourite "keong choon ngau", which is beef with ginger and spring onion with rice.
I ordered pork and salted egg porridge while our friends ordered beef porridge which I didn't take any snapshot.
We also ordered a small plate of "keong choon ngau" with rice vermicelli (beehoon) for sharing because our friends wanted to try this. Our friends enjoyed the tender beef slices.
Coincidentally, we passed by this Calabash tree on one of my morning walk.
There were some giant "miracle" fruits hanging from the branches. It was after a morning shower and the raindrops can be seen on the fruit.

O God, your ways are holy.
Where is there any other as mighty as you?
You are the God of miracles and wondrs!
You still demonstrate your awesome power.

Beef Rice, Mee Sua, Pork Porridge & Carrot Noodle At Restoran Wing Hoong Lapan, Ipoh

Some days I have the mood to cook and some days I just don't feel like cooking and this is one of those lazy days. We planned to eat at Restoran Wing Hoong Lapan which we came to know that it has shifted to a new location. We used to patronize this eatery at its old location opposite a church at Jalan Yang Kalsom, Ipoh.

Restoran Wing Hoong Lapan,
16, Jalan Centrepoint 1, Jalan Bharu, Off Jalan Tokong, Ipoh.
This place serves porridge, noodles and rice.
On a closer look, these are roses hanging from above.
This was painted on the left pillar.
And this was on the right pillar.
Nice and comfortable interior.

The following photos were taken when we visited Penang about a month ago.
McNair Place is a Bed & Breakfast located quite near to the hotel we were staying in. This place provides an exciting heritage experience offering rooms that are fully air-conditioned with en-suite bathrooms.
Located in the same vicinity of shopping malls, nightlife, hawker food centers and a short stroll away from the city center of Georgetown, Penang.

But all who humble themselves before the Lord
shall be given every blessing and shall have wonderful peace.

Buntong Beef Noodle At Kedai Makanan & Minuman Sri Mahkota, Ipoh

This was on a Saturday. The sky was gloomy and hazy. There was hardly any rain for the past week or more.

Dark, gloomy morning at 8:20am.
For this particular morning, we had breakfast at home because I need to clear the bread and fresh mushrooms. I made my own version of French toast using the remaining fresh mushrooms and eggs.
This tasted okay to me but to hubby it tasted weird because of the fresh mushrooms. He still prefers his noodles.
This morning, I finally finished the bottle of jam. So, no more buying bread or jam for the time being.
~~~~~
I was tired after cleaning house so we went out for dinner at Kedai Makanan and Minuman Sri Mahkota, also known as the Buntong Beef Noodle.
I picked 6 pieces of fried items.
Ordered 2 bowls of beef noodles.
Rice vermicelli + yellow noodle for hubby.
Add 1 fish ball and 1 meat ball to each bowl.
Flat rice noodle or koay teow for me.
This was our dinner. Nice dinner and filling too.
One day, we were in Bercham and happened to pass by this shop
that sells soya bean milk and soya bean curd. The shop was closed.
I have not been here before.
There are murals on the side walls.
Hubby has to stop for me to take these snapshots.
I like this big mural that was painted on this side wall. The mural shows the steps of making the soya bean milk and tau fu fah.
Linking to Monday Mural.
Since the Lord is directing our steps,
why try to understand everything that happens along the way?
Beef Tripe Soup, Beef Noodle, Chicken Rendang & Bitter Gourd Omelette
We woke up early so we started our morning walk early.
Sunrise at 6:35am
Can you see the moon, a tiny speck in the sky?
6:41 am.
~~~~~
After morning walk, we drove to Bercham. I have been thinking of the beef tripe soup and fried noodle with beef. We were the early birds. We were the 2nd customers.
We ordered a bowl of beef tripe soup and added 2 beef balls for sharing.
 Stir fried rice vermicelli with beef slices for sharing.
Our breakfast with 2 glasses of herbal tea.
Their new shop front at Hala Bercham Selatan 1, Bercham Heights, Ipoh.
This place serves beef tripe soup, fried noodles with or without beef, noodles with other ingredients (liew). We usually go for the beef tripe soup and fried beef noodle.
This green building is the obvious landmark.
~~~~~
Our home cooked dinner.
Chicken rendang with ready made paste.
Omelette with home grown white bitter gourd.
We had steamed brown rice to go with the above dishes.
A mural of the nearby Chinese school drawn on the wall surrounding the compound of the school.
We depend upon the Lord alone to save us.
Only he can help us; he protects us like a shield.
No wonder we are happy in the Lord!
For we are trusting him. We trust his holy name.
Yes, Lord, let your constant love surround us,
for our hopes are in you alone.
