Dinner At Restoran Mun Ji On a Rainy Evening

We set out for morning walk at about 7:05am.

Lovely sunrise 7:10am
7:20am.
The sun partially blocked by dark cloud - 8am.
8:10am.
Japanese cucumber from my garden.
~~~~~
Dinner at Restoran Mun Ji, Menglembu. Halfway through dinner, there was a heavy downpour. We ordered the following dishes.
Fish curry with assorted vegetables and tofu puffs (small size) - RM35. We never fail to order this dish. This is the only place I will always take-away or "tapau" the remaining curry back home.
This is also another dish that we must order - Green amaranth with 3 types of eggs (salted egg, century egg & normal chicken egg) - RM15
For a change, we ordered salted fish pork belly in clear pot - RM16. This is a very appetizing dish and hubby had 2nd helping of rice. Total cost of dinner for 4 people - RM74.20
It was still drizzling when we got into the car. Currently, this place only opens for dinner. We usually go early to avoid the peak dinner crowd.
~~~~~
The next day home cooked dinner.
With the remaining curry that I took away, I added in some chicken breast slices, carrot, and home grown tomatoes.
Blanched broccoli.
For hubby, I cooked instant noodle without adding the flavouring.
To clear the last 3 remaining pieces of bread from the fridge, I toasted the bread. Simple and enjoyable dinner on a cool, rainy evening.
~~~~~
A friend who visited the Taiping zoo, sent me some photos.
Crocodiles.
I will avoid going near this place if I were in the zoo.
Iniquity is atoned for by mercy and truth;
evil is avoided by reverence for God.
When a man is trying to please God,
God makes even his worst enemies to be at peace with him.
Buntong Beef Noodle At Kedai Makanan & Minuman Sri Mahkota, Ipoh
This was on a Saturday. The sky was gloomy and hazy. There was hardly any rain for the past week or more.
Dark, gloomy morning at 8:20am.
For this particular morning, we had breakfast at home because I need to clear the bread and fresh mushrooms. I made my own version of French toast using the remaining fresh mushrooms and eggs.
This tasted okay to me but to hubby it tasted weird because of the fresh mushrooms. He still prefers his noodles.
This morning, I finally finished the bottle of jam. So, no more buying bread or jam for the time being.
~~~~~
I was tired after cleaning house so we went out for dinner at Kedai Makanan and Minuman Sri Mahkota, also known as the Buntong Beef Noodle.
I picked 6 pieces of fried items.
Ordered 2 bowls of beef noodles.
Rice vermicelli + yellow noodle for hubby.
Add 1 fish ball and 1 meat ball to each bowl.
Flat rice noodle or koay teow for me.
This was our dinner. Nice dinner and filling too.
~~~~~
One day, we were in Bercham and happened to pass by this shop
that sells soya bean milk and soya bean curd. The shop was closed.
I have not been here before.
There are murals on the side walls.
Hubby has to stop for me to take these snapshots.
I like this big mural that was painted on this side wall. The mural shows the steps of making the soya bean milk and tau fu fah.
Linking to Monday Mural.
Since the Lord is directing our steps,
why try to understand everything that happens along the way?
Prawn Noodle, Wild Boar Rendang, Porridge With Fried Dace & Salted Egg
I had a packet of Hokkien Prawn Noodle ready made paste that was near expiry date.
I used the paste to cook Hokkien Prawn Noodle for lunch.
Ingredients used: big prawns, chicken drumstick meat cut into cubes, beansprouts and home grown chives. I kept the remaining soup for next day's breakfast.
For dinner, hubby went out to buy wild boar rendang (RM10) from a nearby Indian stall.
I had bread with the wild boar rendang while hubby had instant noodle with the wild boar rendang. He is not a fan of bread.
~~~~~
The next morning's breakfast.
After returning from our morning walk, I heated up the prawn soup.
We had Hokkien prawn noodle with hot milo for breakfast.
~~~~~
Simple dinner for 2 people.
I boiled plain brown rice porridge.
Opened a can of fried dace with salted black beans.
There were 2 fried dace with the black beans.
I actually like the black beans than the fried dace.
I boiled 2 salted duck eggs. I am too lazy to pickle the eggs. Nowadays it is more convenient to buy from the store.
Hubby likes to eat porridge with the above fermented white bean curd (fu yue). He likes the one with sesame oil and chili added.
This time I managed to take a snapshot of the black bird that comes to shred my banana leaves and flies off with the banana leaf shreds. I do not know the identity of the bird. The picture is not clear so I don't know if anyone can help to identify this bird.
A friendly discussion is as stimulating
Fish Curry & Jui Hu Char For Dinner
More eateries are opening up for dine-in. After the "wait and see" period, many will also be ready to open up for dine-in early next month. But for this particular morning, hubby went out to buy breakfast because I was bored with noodles and wanted to eat oat porridge for a change.
Hubby bought pork noodle and some stuffed items.
This is my oat porridge topped with almond slices, walnut chunks and dried cranberries.
All the other colours periwinkles have disappeared except for this white periwinkles.
~~~~~
Our lunch with breakfast food.
Fried egg and bacon with wholemeal bread for me.
2 half boiled eggs, bacon and bread for hubby.
Periwinkles are self-propagating plants.
~~~~~
It was my sister's birthday. Since there is no birthday gathering, I ordered 2 portions of fish curry and sent one over to my sister for her dinner.
I took out half from my own portion for dinner and kept the other half for next day. This is our favourite fish curry.
Home cooked "jui hu char" which is yam bean (sengkuang), carrots, dried shiitake mushrooms, and dried cuttlefish. I can eat a big plate of this without having any rice.
The following are sunset shots taken outside my house on the 1st Sunday of October.
Home Made "Melt In The Mouth" BBQ Pork
This was last Tuesday. I captured a few morning sky shots before we started out on our morning walk.
Morning sky at 7:01am
Dreamy morning sky.
On the reverse side
One snapshot while walking.
~~~~~
Breakfast
2 half boiled eggs, 2 pieces of bread with coconut jam (kaya) and hot milo for hubby.
2 pieces of toast with peanut jam and apricot jam and hot milo for me.
~~~~~
Dinner
Home made "melt in the mouth" bbq pork.
Cook the pre-marinated pork belly (kept overnight in the fridge) together with the marinate sauce in non-stick pan. Added some water to dilute the sauce in the pan. Cook over medium fire until it started to boil, then let it simmer covered over low fire. Check frequently to make sure the sauce doesn't dry out. Turn to cook the pork on both sides. Once the pork belly is cooked and soft enough, off the fire.
Cut the cooled bbq pork belly and kept aside one portion for our neighbour.
Kept the bbq sauce in a separate bowl. If sauce is too thick, add some water and cook over a fire.
Sauteed napa cabbage + carrot with garlic and salt.
Getting ready for photography session.
Poured the bbq sauce over the bbq pork and let's eat!
To keep ourselves connected, my foodie friends and I will post and share photos of our meals on our Whatsapp chat group.
Mangoes for dessert.
Our day ended with this evening sky at 7:20pm.
Saturday's Ctitters
Baby grasshopper.
I saw a strange big ant on the trash bag which I haven't seen before. I used Google Lens app and it was identified as the Green Tree Ant. Information from the internet says that its sting is poisonous and can cause a strong allergic reaction that often leads to an anaphylactic shock. Before it could get away, I quickly flatten it. I hope its nest is not anywhere near my house. So far, so good, until now there has been no more sighting of this type of ant.
Don't brag about tomorrow,
since you don't know what the day will bring.
Let someone else praise you, not your own mouth -
a stranger, not your own lips.
