I have heard about this famous Cendol stall in Bercham but I have not been there nor have tasted it before. Last Saturday after our lunch at Caterbest, we walked over to the stall and were told by one of the customers that everything had been sold out.
The next day, after our Sunday lunch at Restaurant Chong Say Kee, we were driving home and we have to pass by this Cendol stall. I requested hubby to stop at the Cendol stall. This time we were early and I get to taste the Cendol.

There was a queue and I joined in the queue. It was midday and it was very hot.
I managed to stand under the big umbrella.
Everyone was patiently queuing up for their turn, including me.
The Cendol stall is in front of the Caltex petrol station and facing the opposite Shell petrol station.
Here is the price listing. To pack and take away, there is an additional charge of 0.50 cents.
If you want to eat your dessert there, either you stand and eat or you can sit in your car and enjoy the dessert.
He is a one man show and he works very fast.
He starts his business around 12.30 pm and the dessert is usually sold out by 2.30 pm or earlier.
So far this is the best Cendol I have tasted in Ipoh. I noticed that both the palm syrup and coconut milk are really thick, and these make a great difference to the taste of the dessert.
Most important is that I noticed the stall is clean.
Who may ascend the mountain of the LORD?
Who may stand in His holy place?
The one who has clean hands and a pure heart,
who does not trust in an idol or swear by a false god.
(Psalm 24:3-4, NIV)
If me, depend on mood to Q for foods, if there is long Q, hehe...
ReplyDeleteUsually I wouldn't queue for food especially when the queue is long and some more under the hot sun. But that day I just have this desire to taste this dessert, so I willing queue up to pack and take away the desserts.
DeleteAh, you didn't show me what Cendol is! Maybe next time.
ReplyDeleteHello Tom, I didn't have a picture of the Cendol because we packed home to enjoy. Pouring it out from the pack, it looked messy. Next time I will order a bowl to take a picture of it.
DeleteAgree with you, palm syrup & coconut milk are 2 main ingredients for a nice bowl of cendol & must be thick & not dilute. Even it is good, with the long queue, I guess I don't have the patience to wait.
ReplyDeleteI was surprised at myself and my patience that day. Just to satisfy my craving, I guess!
DeleteHello, I have never heard of Cendol. It must be delicious if it sells out so quickly. Happy Monday, enjoy your new week ahead! I wish you all the best in 2016, Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteHello Eileen. I should have taken a picture of the cendol. Happy new year to you too!
DeleteWow- it must be really good. I had to look up what cendol is but it looks yummy. The green squiggles in it make it looks really appealing. I have never heard of rice flour jelly either. It is fascinating the foods from all over the world. Hope your week started off in the nicest of ways and you get to eat more cendol soon. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteThank you for looking up to know what is cendol. Sorry I didn't have a picture to show. Happy new year, Erika.
