This was Wednesday, 2 days before Lunar New Year. After morning walk, we stopped at one of our regular coffee shop for breakfast.
We ordered and shared a plate of wonton noodle with curry pork rib and minced pork dumplings (wonton). Then hubby bought a Chinese cruller or youtiao to eat with his coffee.
Papaya for pre-lunch.
My lunch: Took out 1 curry puff, warm up in the oven.
Lots of filling: a quarter hard boiled egg, chicken, and potato.
Hubby's lunch: Mamak rojak (pasembor) and iced unsweetened black coffee.

Home cooked dinner.
There was a tub of home made pickled (salted) mustard green (hum choy) in my fridge. I almost forgot about it. I took half to cook with minced pork, tomatoes and chilies.
We had plain rice porridge with the fried fish and salted mustard green savoury dish. It was a very appetizing dinner. I kept half the salted mustard green in the fridge for the next day's dinner.
Salt is good for seasoning.
But if it loses its flavor, how do you make it salty again?
You must have the qualities of salt among yourselves
and live in peace with each other.

What a nice porridge meal, very ngam for me!

DeleteNancy, every time I look into your blog about breakfast I think about dinner. This plate of wonton noodle with curry pork rib and minced pork dumplings (wonton)for breakfast is the first thing about dinner. We in Canada would never think about breakfast. It's amazing that our countries are so different when it comes to eating yet your food is so wonderful & tasty. I would eat it any time.

Ha ha...over here, the first thing in the morning, we will think about what to eat for breakfast. It is the most important meal to start the day and then followed by dinner.
DeleteThis look very delicious.

DeleteHello Nancy, you certainly have a hearty breakfast, and many delicious looking meals every time I visit you. The minced pork dish, with tomatoes and chilly looks so good.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Breathtaking. I hope your back has recovered. Happy weekend.
DeleteThat curry puff looks amazing. I am glad you cut it in half so we could see inside. Your papaya always looks deep orange. Ours looks more yellow.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Gigi. We have deep orange and yellow papayas. But we prefer deep orange because they are sweeter compared to the yellow ones.
DeleteEverything looks so delishious! Your photos of the diced papaya have had me hankering for one and I looked at the Mexican Papya in the store up in the big city the other day. They were so small and dried out. I know they are in season year round they seem to ship better in the spring and summer. I shall look again next trip!
ReplyDeleteI like chilled juicy papaya especially when the weather is hot. Hope you get to find some fresh papayas on your next trip.
DeleteI wish I could taste a Curry Puff. I am going to research how to make them.
ReplyDeleteI hope you get a good recipe. It is quite easy to make.

Thank you, Lucyna. Have a great Friday.
DeleteI love papaya, sadly here when ever I see them in the shops here they are green and just do not ripen! Keep safe Diane
ReplyDeleteWe use green papayas for boiling soup. Stay safe.
DeleteHola Nancy, maravillosos platos nos presentas hoy. Bonitas fotos. Besos.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Lola.
DeleteAmazing food as usual. I love the scripture for today. Best of all is the concept of "pre-lunch" I need to check into that.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Yogi.
DeleteAll the food looks good as usual especially your grouper fish. The pasembor looks very good too. The curry puff fillings look good too. How much is one curry puff? Here the price ranges from rm2 to rm4.5 for one curry puff.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite curry puffs cost RM2.50.
DeleteThe papaya looks especially good.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mimi. Very sweet and juicy.
DeleteThe curry puff looks delicious, not something that I have ever had before. It would be nice to try it.
ReplyDeleteI am sure you will love it.
DeletePastry yes, curry no...................
ReplyDeleteTim would like them though
Some puffs do not have curry in the filling.
DeleteIt is must be very tasty and flavourful to eat the porridge with the fried fish and hum Choy.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, very tasty and flavourful.
Delete*it must be
ReplyDeleteI am glad the home made pickled mustard green or hum choy turned out very well.
DeleteNice to be able to buy youtiao to dip into coffee. None of the coffee shops I frequent have youtiao available. So I get them from the market and try to get home before they turn soft.
ReplyDeleteThe hum choy dish reminds me... I haven't had it in a long time.
We have 2 shops where we can buy youtiao in my area. I too haven't had this hum choy dish for a long time. Hubby and I really enjoyed the dish.
