This was last Tuesday.
Sun rising from behind the hills at 7:20.
After morning walk, we went out to buy shredded chicken noodle (kai si hor fun) from the nearby shop. It looks a plain without the reddish prawn oil but the taste is still good.
For me, I will add all the bird's eye chili into the soup.

Home cooked dinner.
I had 4 chicken legs in the freezer. I can't remember what I wanted to do with them but thought I could use them to cook drunken chicken soup (chicken with rice wine).
Beehoon to go with the chicken with glutinous rice wine.
I have finished the mee sua so beehoon is the second best noodle.
Ingredients: chicken, home made glutinous rice wine, ginger strips, wood fungus cut into strips, red dates and goji berries.
This chicken soup is usually cooked for women after they have given birth (during their confinement month). So, it is good for warming up the body during cold days.
After drinking the soup, I can feel my body and face warming up and I will have a good night's sleep.
Linking to Monday Mural.
Shall I look to the mountain gods for help?
No! My help is from Jehovah who made the mountains!
And the heavens too!
He will never let me stumble, slip, or fall.
For he is always watching, never sleeping.
(Psalm 121:1-4, The Living Bible-TLB)
The shredded chicken noodle looks delicious!

Deletechicken soups with noodles sure warms the stomach! yummzz!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Nux.
DeleteMy blogger-friend just shared her recipe for kai si hor fun and I was drooling away. I love that! But I would not want to cook it as our kway teow is not so fine and smooth and translucent as your hor fun. She used a frozen one packed in plastic bag - wish I could buy that here.
ReplyDeleteYour chicken soup bihun makes me think of my chicken soup mee sua (yesterday's post) - the Foochow women would eat that when in confinement and it is served to friends and family who drop by to visit the mum and baby.
I too love the mee sua with red wine. Very delicious.
DeleteBeautiful sunrise and mural, and ohh, so much interesting food again!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Iris.
DeleteIt's cloudy here, so I didn't see the sunrise this morning, but there was a wonderful moon last night. Your food looks wonderful again. Have a great week, take care, Valerie

ReplyDeletebest... mae at maefood.blogspot.com
Thank you, Mae.
DeleteI could eat both Kai see hor fun and your Chicken With Glutinous Rice Wine Soup now at 3.30 am cos middle of the night so sure got appetite. Have you woken up in the middle of the night feeling hungry before?
ReplyDeleteWah! You really got good appetite in the middle of the night! If I were to wake up in the middle of the night and cannot go back to sleep, I will just make a small cup of hot drink with milk and after that I will go back to sleep.
DeleteA lovely sky view.
ReplyDeleteThank you, William.
DeleteKai see hor fun is one of my favourite noodles. It is difficult to get good ones with lots of flavour in the soup as most times the soup is a bit diluted. But the ones you bought look quite delicious. Wine chicken used to be an old family recipe during my grandmother's days but I have not learnt to make it. Yummy soupy meals!!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Kestrel.

ReplyDeleteThis is the long type of okra, sometimes about 3 times the length of the normal okra.
DeleteLovely mural. Been out of phone/net reception since Tuesday, just got back to civilization... Thanks for participating in Monday murals.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sami for hosting. Happy weekend.
DeleteI'm always attracted to order yellow wine chicken. Not so easy to cook this at home since the wine isn't commonly available.
ReplyDeleteSome shops do sell but customers have to ask for it.
DeleteBuenas comidas. Besos.
