My foodie friends and I met up with our ex-colleagues for lunch on Friday. It has been quite a while since we last had lunch together. It was not a pre-planned but a last minute decision to meet up.
Initially we couldn't decide on where to meet or what to eat. Two of our foodie friends had the craving for hot pot soup and that's how we ended up in Restoran Fong Wei Ge Hot Pot at Jalan Veerasamy (in front of Touch Wedding Studio and near to Pusing Public Seafood Restaurant), Ipoh.
This is my 3rd visit to this restaurant.
On my first visit, I was introduced to the hot pot soup by my ex-colleagues who were there before. We only ordered the hot pot fish soup. None of us were really hungry, but we wanted some piping hot soup and time for chit chatting.
On our 2nd visit, it was evening and we sat under the open sky. For the first 2 visits, I have totally forgotten about taking the food photos.
The previous night's (Thursday night) heavy downpour has helped to clear some of the haze and we were able to see some white cloud while driving to meet our friends.
While waiting for our food, we occupied ourselves with our hand phones and cameras. Long time no meet, so plenty of exchanging of news!
A boiling pot full of edible treasures. The main items - fish head, deep fried bean curd sheets, yam, Chinese cabbage, enoki mushroom, etc. I am sure there were more than these items.
Bitter gourd egg omelette.
Deep fried Nam Yee chicken wings. I like this dish. (Deep fried chicken wings marinated with red fermented bean curd).
I love chicken wings! Barbecued, roasted or fried, I love them! Your soup looks great and it is so nice having the portable gas stove to keep it hot! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Linda. We all love chicken wings. Have a wonderful weekend!
DeleteI love the BBQ chicken wings too... next time I will order that again.. but I think it is so much cheaper to do those at home... hahahaa... Great catching up with you gals again!
ReplyDeleteNext time remember to order the chicken wings, very yummy. Of course it is much cheaper doing it at home. I prefer to cook it in the oven, less messy..lol!
DeleteI love those pork minced with salted fish! I surely would need a 2nd helping of rice!
ReplyDeleteAngie, just this dish allow will be enough for me.
DeleteThe food looks very delicious. I do love hot pot. I haven't had one in a long time. Your group of friends look nice and friendly and a good bunch to have lunch with. I'm so glad you had a break in the haze. I'm sure you are relieved that you can see the sky at last!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Joyful. I am thankful and grateful for my bunch of friends and it is great fun being with them.
DeleteNow you made me miss hot pot too! Haha. Glad the weather is getting better over here.
ReplyDeleteAs in Kuching, the sky has been rather gloomy for past 2 days.
Now is the best time to enjoy hot pot before the hot sunny days return. The days are still gloomy here and these few days have been raining.
DeleteGood looking eats again!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Tom. Have a wonderful weekend!
DeleteThat pot of goodness would be nice for a raining & cooling night. Anything with salted fish (fish patty) sure makes an appetising dish. I saw 2 horns on your head, hahaha!!!...trademark of Reana Claire.
ReplyDeleteHa ha...Irene, that is the famous trademark of Reana Claire.
DeleteI loves everything except bitter gourd as i don't eat that, hehe...
ReplyDeleteSharon, when I was young I do not eat bitter gourd but now I love it!
DeleteI see you're still eating well even though I've been gone from Blogger for an extended period. The food looks delicious. I wonder what the bitter gourd taste like.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
JB
Welcome back, Julia. I am still enjoying my foodie adventures.
DeleteGlad to hear the weather is getting a little better with the haze disappearing a little. Nice to meet up with friends and enjoy good food together, I am always interested in the different foods, the pork looked interesting.

ReplyDeleteThank you, Gosia. Have a wonderful weekend!
DeleteI'm struck by the difference in the sky, with some of that haze washed away.
ReplyDeleteHopefully, with the rainy days the haze will be totally washed away.
DeleteYour edible treasurers are making me hungry altho', do you mind if I pass on the fish head?!
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely day.

Lol! For those who do not like fish head, it is possible to change to fish meat only. Have a lovely day too!

DeleteNancy, I do enjoy a good hot pot once in a while, I see that the accompanying side dishes are very yummy too!
ReplyDeleteYes, they are very yummy and we enjoyed the brunch very much.
DeleteGood to chit chat while drinking hot soup. Chit chatting warms the heart and the soup warms the stomach.
ReplyDeleteMun, you said it so right. What a comfortable feeling, warm hearts and stomachs.
DeleteMost people would be happy with the hotpot. You people added so much other food hehe.
ReplyDeleteStacy, we only ordered the basic hot pot, we didn't add any extra items to the hot pot because we wanted to add other side dishes for our lunch.
DeleteNancy, I meant add so much of side dishes!
DeleteHa ha..Stacy. I think this is a set order, the side dishes are included in the set. Have a lovely day, Stacy!
