This was last Friday morning. After morning walk, we drove to Menglembu for breakfast. Hubby ordered hor hee noodle. I walked over to the next shop to take a look at what they have at the bakery shop.
I bought this piece of garlic bread. I took half of it for breakfast.
I also bought this piece of curry puff to try and I had it for breakfast too. I like both the garlic bread and curry puff. Kept half the garlic bread for mid morning tea but by then it had soften and was no longer nice.
I also bought 2 polo buns for my neighbour who was on leave from work. Her feedback was that these polo buns are very nice.
These were what I ordered for breakfast that morning.
Toast and coffee for sharing.
Hubby wanted a small piece of butter to be added to the coffee.
A small piece will do because too much won't taste good.
Wild mushrooms growing in my flower pot.
Our friend has space to grow cassava or tapioca plants.
That afternoon, he called to inform that he has pulled out 1 plant and the roots were waiting to be collected.
I removed the skin from the cassava roots and took out a small portion to boiled with some salt and water. The rest I kept in the freezer for later use.
I love boiled cassava root with pure palm sugar syrup without any sugar added. I don't get to eat this often because my garden has no more space for growing tapioca plants.

I never heard of mushrooms growing in a flower pot! will you eat them? Putting butter in your coffee is all the rage here now, I have not tried it yet though.
ReplyDeleteOh no, I wouldn't dare eat these wild mushrooms. My father used to put butter in his coffee too and that was many many years ago.
DeleteI don't know anyone who add butter to their coffee.
ReplyDeleteCoffee is on and stay safe
Actually adding butter is not a new thing. The oldies had done it long, long time ago. Not it is not so popular maybe because people are more health conscious now.
DeleteOften seen mushrooms growing where they shouldn't grow.
ReplyDeleteLike the garlic bred, it looks very yummy.
Never heard of a dob of butter in coffee, must be nice.
Sometimes there are wild mushrooms growing in my vegetable patch too. The coffee with butter is only nice when it is still hot or warm.
DeleteSimple breakfast. The Chinese kopitiam style. I don't take coffee but know that there are few old coffee shops here serving coffee with butter.
ReplyDeleteMost new coffee shops don't serve coffee with butter. We only drink it once in a while.
DeleteGarlic for breakfast? You are tough! The curry puff I´d be in, oh, yum!
ReplyDeleteButter to coffee? I never have heard of that! Cassava root is also new to me. So much interesting food you have, it´s truly amazing.
Hope you will visit us one day and get to enjoy all our interesting food.
DeleteI like to eat garlic bread even when it is soft! Yums! 😋 Butter in coffee is ok for your husband since he is thin but not for me, lolx! 😅 Must be so tasty the cassava roots. Did your friend keep some cassava roots to eat? Will you make the cassava roots kuih again? Hhmmmm now I want to buy nyonya cassava root kuihs after reading your posts, hehehehehe. 😁
ReplyDeleteLol! Hubby and I need to lose some weight now. I think I won't be making kuih bingka since we can't eat much. Have to watch sugar intake and our weight too.
DeleteI like to have a little butter in my coffee too. The boiled cassava roots looks interesting.

Deletei prefer cassave chips...the polo buns looks good!
ReplyDeleteCassava chips used to be my favourite. I have to avoid hard food now because I have problem with my teeth.
DeleteI love boiled tapioca with palm sugar - here, we have the gula apong, the nipah palm sugar, different from gula Melaka.
ReplyDeleteI tried butter in black coffee at a place in Kuching - it was very nice.
https://suituapui.wordpress.com/2019/09/17/butter/
It so happened I had gula melaka in my fridge. Normally I will just eat it plain.
DeleteI love boiled cassava root with freshly grated coconut. I have yet to try coffee with butter. I might not like it hah..hah...
ReplyDeleteI love with grated coconut but lazy to go to the shop. Coffee with butter is only nice when the coffee is hot. I am not really a fan of butter in coffee, but don't mind having it once in a while and sharing it with hubby.
DeleteI have never had fresh cassava roots..so tempting! Love curry puff and polo buns too.
ReplyDeleteThanks to our friend for providing the fresh cassava roots.
DeleteLook so nice

ReplyDeleteHope you will like it.
DeleteButter in coffee, I didn't know this mixture yet? I will test this!
ReplyDeleteI hope you like it, Heidi.
DeleteHave not had this cassava root with gula melaka for ages, i think I have forgotten about this dessert. Yes, I like it very much too but must have palm sugar. I am not sure I will like coffee with butter but i remember it is very popular in Vietnam where ALL shops served it.
ReplyDeleteIf you add santan to it, it will taste much more delicious. You can even add freshly grated coconut too.
DeleteChips look very tasty
ReplyDeleteThank you, Nassah.
DeleteEverything looks tasty. I'm always hungry when I show up here.
ReplyDeleteThank you for joining the Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop.

DeleteMy mama use to put a half a slice of butter in her coffee and the first time I saw that I said, "eeeeee-oooooooooo, gross"! Then she said to me, "Do you not dip your buttered toast in your coffee?", and I said, "Yes, I do, but...", and does the butter melt off your toast into your coffee, and do you not drink it?", and I said yes, BUT... And she said, "I rest my case"! She was one helleva smart lady my mama! Gosh, I miss her so very much!!! HAPPY HOLIDAYS to you!!!

Very easy. To try, you just drop a small piece of butter into a hot cup of coffee.
DeleteMi marido si pone mantequilla en el café. Besos.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Teresa.
DeleteGorgeous sunrise clouds!
ReplyDeleteThank you and enjoy your weekend.
DeleteI have never had butter in coffee, but I love toasted garlic bread.
ReplyDeleteSo far, this is the 2nd time we had butter in our coffee. I wouldn't want to drink it everyday.
DeleteThat butter was in the perfect time and place to be added to coffee! I've heard of it but never tried.
ReplyDeleteMost coffee shops don't serve coffee with butter. Since they serve toast with butter and kaya separately, so we can add some of the butter to the coffee.
