The night before, I was digging into the freezer to see what I can cook for dinner. Found a pork leg and let it thaw in the lower shelf of the fridge.
Since I haven't cooked pork leg in black vinegar for a long time, I will be cooking this dish for dinner.
Our day started at 7:08am with our morning walk.
Reflection of the sunrise.
Murals on the wall around the Chinese school.
Back home in my garden, I harvested the above. Will be cooking the green brinjals for dinner and the cucumber will be eaten raw as salad.

Home cooked dinner.
Blanched the newly harvested green brinjals plus some long beans and okra and drizzled with garlic oil, oyster and soy sauce.
The pork leg was given by my neighbour and I used it to cook black vinegar pork leg. Ingredients used: pork leg, old and young ginger slices, black wood fungus, black beans, and a bottle of black vinegar. I used the ready mixed black vinegar from Kilang Kicap Kwong Ban Woh from Penang. Water added depends on individual's preference. I used slightly more than 1 bottle of water to 1 bottle of black vinegar. I used a pressure cooker to cook this dish which is fast and easy.
This was our dinner with steamed rice.
I blessed our neighbour with a big portion of the pork leg in black vinegar in return for her pork leg.
Evening sky at 7:30pm, with the street lighted up.

Very nutritious and delicious! I love pork legs.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Angie. Me too.
DeleteWow, I have heard of black vinegar, but don't know anything about it.
ReplyDeleteIt is a very appetizing dish.
Delete3rd photo is lovely Nancy.
ReplyDeleteNever heard of black vinegar. I guess we can buy it someone where here.
The murals do look rather nice and your cucumbers are doing well.
Thank you, Margaret.
DeleteI love pork leg in black vinegar but I have yet to attempt it in my kitchen. What a good harvest to had! I bet the cucumbers are very fresh and crunchy direct from the garden.
ReplyDeleteFreshly harvested cucumbers are tastier and more crunchy.
DeleteOoooo...I love this!!! My missus has not cooked it for a while now. Maybe I shall go out and tapao - they do it pretty well outside, not like the phak lor five-spice braised pork leg. The ones here are always too diluted, Foochow-style, not to my liking!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you, STP. I too like it thick and flavourful.
DeleteHmmmm, black vinegar! Never seen that here, but I love the "white" one.
ReplyDeleteThis looks good - does it also taste different?
Nice sunrise. Grey here again.
OK. I need to cook now before starting work! Hmmmm. Yours look yummy, have a great day :-)
Thank you, Iris. We have overcast sky here, drizzling this morning and looks like going to rain anytime.
DeleteThe fungus and black beans are new to me, usually have this with only ginger inside. Sounds good though.
ReplyDeleteI like the fungus and the black beans so I added them.
DeleteLook so very good
ReplyDeleteThank you, Aleksandra.

Delete...the mural dresses up the wall.
ReplyDeleteThe murals are all along the whole length of the wall.
DeleteThe sky looks lovely. Much better than the fog we have had for 3 days.
ReplyDeleteThank you and have a lovely day.
DeleteI have eaten pork trotter vinegar with black beans but not with wood fungus before. Nice tasty dinner! Your neighbour must be happy to receive this dish from you. Did it take longer for you to cook this dish compared to other dishes?
ReplyDeleteUsing this bottle of black vinegar makes the cooking of this dish so very easy.
DeleteI always like to look at photos of your neighborhood. Very nice! I would love to try your pork leg. Looks delicious!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Gigi.
