Beef Burger & Stewed Duck With Lotus Root

This was last Friday. We have a mixture of clear sky, white clouds and dark clouds.

Morning sky at 7:35am.
After morning walk, we drove out to buy breakfast. Further down our street, we saw a roadside stall in front of a house. We stopped to check what they are selling and we ended up buying the following:
Economy fried beehoon with a fried chicken drumstick for hubby.
2 curry puffs for me.
I didn't want any noodle because I want to enjoy my toast with marmalade jam.
Simple breakfast for 2 people.
For lunch, hubby went out to buy beef burger.
We each had one, no sharing.
Lots of vegetables (RM4.50)
Long time haven't eaten burger, don't know how to take the first bite. Lol!
In the end, have to use a plate. With a fork and knife, I cut the burger into halves.
After that, cut into smaller pieces, easier for me to eat without getting messy.
In future, I must tell hubby to add cheese for me.
Received this box of mooncakes from my neighbour.
This they bought from another friend.
Plus a box of these soft biscuits or mooncakes without filling.
Inside the red box were these 2 assorted nuts mooncakes.
These were freshly baked.
These will taste a bit dry when they are fresh.
They will soften after a few days.

Home cooked dinner
Stewed duck with lotus root.
This dish is known as "puppy duck" (kow chai ngap in Cantonese). The original recipe is without the lotus root. Adding the lotus root is my version. I learned to cook this dish many years ago from my sister's domestic helper.
Blanched Romaine lettuce, drizzled with garlic oil, oyster and soy sauce.
Yummy-licious dinner.
Evening sky at 7:11pm.

Every morning tell him,
"Thank you for your kindness,"
and every evening rejoice in all his faithfulness.

Fish Noodle With Wine, Corn With Chive Fritters & Beef Burger

The day started off with a dreamy sort of morning sky.

Morning sky at 7:15am - setting out for morning walk.
Sunrise at about 7:45am
Breakfast with black coffee. Hubby bought fish noodle with wine and some stuffed bean curd sheet with fish paste. The boss gave us extra wine (in the small bowl) to add to the soup. 1 portion of fish noodle for 2 people.
Hubby's bowl.
Mine with the cut bird's eye chili to get some extra oomph to the soup.
There were 4 pieces. Someone ate one before this snapshot was taken.
~~~~~
I was feeling bored and I went to do a stock check in the fridge. I had fresh corn and flour in the fridge and Chinese chives in the garden.
Corn + Chinese chives fritters.
I removed corn kernel from 1 cob, cut some harvested Chinese chives, added a teaspoon of salt, a teaspoon of baking powder, all-purpose wheat flour and some rice flour (just enough flour to bind the ingredients together). Add a little water and mixed everything together before frying.
The fritters taste great with Thai sweet chili sauce. I came up with this idea of eating the fritters with home made pickled ginger. Hubby ate a few pieces. I snacked on the fritters until they were all gone.
One afternoon I heard this house sparrow chirping away on the wall outside my house. Probably trying to get the attention of its partner or friend. After a while, it was joined by another sparrow and off they flew away.
Dinner
I was still full with all the fritters that I have eaten. Since I won't be eating dinner, hubby has to go out to buy his own dinner.
He went out on his motorcycle and came back with a beef burger. He told me he saw this burger stall outside the food court and decided to eat burger. It has been a long, long time since he last ate a burger.
There was so much veggie (shredded cabbage and lettuce), it looked like a vegetable burger.
It was too big to take a bite so have to cut into halves first.
Now you can see the fried egg and the beef patty.
For a change, hubby enjoyed his simple beef burger dinner.
Hallelujah! Thank you, Lord!
How good you are! Your love for us continues on forever.
Who can ever list the glorious miracles of God?
Who can ever praise him half enough?
Home Made 30 Days Salted Chicken Eggs Turned Out Beautifully
Yesterday (87th day MCO), after our morning walk, we  walked to the pork seller to collect the pork belly and pork ribs that we have ordered the day before and then continued our walk back home.
Instead of hubby going out to buy breakfast, I cooked breakfast for both of us.
 I cooked 2 half boiled eggs, pan fried 1 beef burger, 4 black pepper sausages and a bowl of oat porridge.
 For me: a bowl of oat porridge and 1 sausage cut into small pieces.
For hubby: 2 half boiled eggs, beef burger and 3 sausages.
  I had Nescafe with powdered milk and hubby had his with condensed milk.
Lunch
I like the Nasi Briyani from the nearby food court and it is only sold on Fridays. Hubby and I walked to the food court but found that the Nasi Briyani was sold out.
We ended up ordering a plate of white rice, a sweet spicy chicken drumstick, some mutton curry and cabbage. Hubby and I shared this plate for lunch at the food court. We had to write down our temperature, names and contact numbers in compliance with the MCO SOP for eateries.
Sweet drink or "tong sui".
I used 3 large home grown aloe vera leaves, dried figs, dried longan, pandan leaves and cane sugar. I boiled the sugar, dried figs, dried longan and pandan leaves in water until the dried figs softened. Then I added the cut aloe vera (without the skin) and let it boiled for about a minute and then off the fire.
  This sweet drink tastes better when chilled. I have some plain agar-agar in the fridge. I cut the agar-agar into small pieces and added to the sweet drink. This sweet drink is refreshing and delicious when chilled especially for warm days.
Home Made Salted Chicken Eggs
This is an update of my home made salted chicken eggs which you can click here to read. After having waited patiently for 30 days, I took out one of the salted eggs to cook in boiling water to check if it is well salted.
This is the result of 30 days salted chicken eggs. It is not too salty and the deep orange yolk was with oil and beautiful. I removed the eggs except for 2 eggs from the salt water. I will leave 1 egg to salt for 35 days and another egg to salt for 40 days to compare the results. I will update on the results.
Simple home cooked dinner
 Home cooked soup (corn, carrot, goji berries and chicken keel), sambal snake beans, home made salted egg and steamed rice.
 Snake beans cooked with minced pork, and spicy dried prawns sambal.
 This soup has the natural sweetness of all the natural ingredients used to boil the soup.
 On one of our morning walks, I spotted this cat on top of a concrete fence. I zoomed in to get a closer picture of the cat with a bushy tail. It looks like a male cat to me.
Look! It was staring back at me! It doesn't look happy.
"Hey! Why are you pointing your camera at me?"
Linking to Saturday's Critters.
Here is my description of a truly happy land where Jehovah is God:
Sons vigorous and tall as growing plants.
Daughters of graceful beauty like the pillars of a palace wall.
Barns full to the brim with crops of every kind.
Sheep by the thousands out in our fields.
Oxen loaded down with produce.
No enemy attacking the walls, but peace everywhere.
No crime in our streets.
Yes, happy are those whose God is Jehovah.
Roast Chicken And Lemang & Beef Rendang
Today is Sunday, 68th day MCO. We had just finished the online worship service because we have not gone back to worship in church. Today is also the first day of "Hari Raya Aidilfitri" celebration observed by the Muslims. Wishing all Muslim readers, "Selamat Hari Raya".
What happened yesterday, Saturday.
Morning sky at 7:00 am (on my right).
Starting out on our early morning walk.
Kledang Hill at 7:00 am (on my left)
~~~~~
Breakfast
Pan fried sausages, beef patty and green tea for hubby.
Homemade mini pizza with thin frozen chapati as base.
I wanted to clear some frozen chapati from my fridge, so I decided to use the frozen chapati as pizza base. I made this pizza with a non-stick pan.
My breakfast: Homemade mini pizza, glutinous rice ball with red bean filling and green tea.  The pizza tastes good with very crispy base but the base was too thin to support the toppings.

Lunch & Dinner
About 1:30 pm, we drove out in search of "lemang" which is glutinous rice cooked in bamboo. We get to eat this once a year and we usually buy "lemang" from this roadside stall every year.
Lemang at RM 15.00
(Glutinous rice with coconut milk cooked in bamboo)
 On the way back, we stopped at Baker's Cottage (in front of Billion Mart, Jelapang).
Roast chicken at RM9.90 each.
We came to know about this roast chicken promotion from a friend. The promotion will be available until 31st May. I bought 1 barbecue roast chicken and 1 black pepper roast chicken. We ate half of the barbecue roast chicken and kept the other half in the fridge. The chicken was still warm, tastes good with crispy skin. We kept the black pepper roast chicken in the freezer for another day.
~~~~~
Dinner
Cut the bamboo and pried it open lengthwise to expose the cooked rice lined with banana leaf inside.
The bamboo with the glutinous rice removed.
We bought 2 tubs of beef rendang at RM 15.00 each.
The lemang or cooked glutinous rice cut into pieces.
To eat, first remove the banana leaf wrapping.
 To start with, we each had 3 pieces of lemang with some beef rendang. We went for a 2nd helping. We kept the rest in the fridge for next day.
It is God himself who has made us what we are
and given us new lives from Christ Jesus; and long ages ago
he planned that we should spend these lives in helping others.
