Having Friends Over For Lunch

On the last weekend of December, before we usher in the New Year, we had friends over for lunch. Once in a while it is nice to share our home cooked meals with friends and be blessed with encouraging fellowship. As usual, the day started with a morning walk at the park.

 Sunrise at the park
Walking to stay fit and healthy

After our walk, I picked up some items from the mini market. Then we had breakfast in our usual coffee shop. For lunch, I cooked plain Teochew rice porridge and the following dishes. The rest were contributed by our friends.
I made the above "melt-in-the-mouth" char siew (bbq meat).
This time, I reduced the amount of sugar used.
Fried egg omelette with preserved radish and home grown spring onions.
We love deep fried crunchy anchovies with porridge.
Another is this store bought crunchy preserved radish.

The following 2 items were brought over by our friends.
Arrow heads, leek, meat slices, etc, cooked by our friend.
She also brought this packet of ice veggie bought from the wet market.
It is nice to have porridge during this dry and hot weather.

After lunch, we went walking in one of the nearby shopping mall. Before we went home, the four of us shared the following items for an early dinner in Sun Yin Loong at Aeon Big, Falim.
 Chicken curry in bread.
Steamed sponge cake spread with kaya or coconut jam.

while a trustworthy man tries to quiet them.

Dinner With Foodie Friends At New TS VIP Restaurant, Ipoh

On this Friday morning, we faithfully did our usual 6 rounds of walking at the park because that evening we will be joining another foodie group for dinner.
Lovely pink sky over the park - 7:05 am
From pink it slowly changed to pinkish orange - 7:10 am.
No more pink or orange by 7:20 am.

the Lord Jesus Christ, is;
and we are looking forward to his return from there.
When he comes back, he will take these dying bodies of ours
and change them into glorious bodies like his own,
using the same mighty power that he will use
to conquer all else everywhere.

Late Lunch At Barracks Cafe, Tanah Rata, Cameron Highlands.

After having visited the flowers and cactus gardens, it is time for our late lunch at the Barracks Cafe. Just to be sure, we used the Waze app to lead us to the exact location. It was somewhere off the main road. It was a weekday and there were not many customers. We would love to sit in the garden but were recommended to sit in the barrack because it was hot under the open sky. After having given our food order, it was time to look at the wall decorations.
A brief history of Cameron Highlands
Located in the state of Pahang, Cameron Highland is Malaysia's largest hill resort. Standing at an elevation of 1524m above sea level. It has a consistently cool climate that never ranges beyond 20 degree celsius.

It was first discovered in 1885 by William Cameron, a British surveyor in the government service. He stumbled upon this 'Fine plateau shut in by lofty mountains' (as described in his report) during a survey expedition of the mountain range for map-making of the Perak/Pahang border. It remain untouched until the early 1920s, when the narrow bridle path leading up to the mountain was widened and improved.

In 1925, Sir George Maxwell paid a visit to the mountain, which eventually led to the development of the hill station now known affectionately to us as Cameron Highlands.

After I have taken a few mouthful of soup, only remembered to take pictures.

For every main order, we can choose to add on a set of 1 lemon tea plus a bowl of mushroom soup for an additional RM10.90. There were 4 main orders, so we had 4 add on sets.

It consists of a whole chicken leg (ayam rendang), a fried egg, veggie salad, spicy sambal and the rice shaped like a barrack.

The LORD alone guided them; they followed no foreign gods.
He let them ride over the highlands and feast on the crops of the fields.
He nourished them with honey from the rock
and olive oil from the stony ground.
