Lunch Treat At Sun Hung Ting Restaurant, Ipoh

This was last Friday. It was a nice day and we enjoyed good weather.

Starting our morning walk at 6:48am
Full moon and clear sky.
Sunrise at 7:06am
Morning sky at 7:15am.
~~~~~
Later in the morning, I received a call from a dear friend who is also my ex-colleague. She wanted to give us a lunch treat. We decided on a time convenient for both of us and we were to meet at Sun Hung Ting restaurant at the appointed time. By the time we reached, our friend has ordered all the dishes and we didn't have to wait long for the food to be served.
Stewed pork leg with white radish (daikon).
Stir fried baby French beans with garlic and salt.
Grouper fish slices curry with assorted vegetables.
Steamed herbal chicken (with tong kwai and gojiberries).
Our friend insisted on having dessert.
Flaky pancake with sweet lotus seed paste filling.
Followed by blended red beans sweet porridge. Just nice for us because it was not very sweet. Thanks to our friend for this scrumptious lunch.
Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for he is so good!
For his loving-kindness is forever.
Yummy Snacks For Lunch
This was on a Thursday about 2 weeks ago. We received a call from our friend inviting us out for lunch. A few places were suggested. Finally, we settled on Kedai Minuman Dan Makanan Taman Timur which we have not been for a long time. Whenever I visit this eatery, I will order my favourite snacks. In fact, we all love and enjoy these snacks.
I ordered 2 plates of pie tees to share. Pie tees is one of my favourite snacks. I have the pie tee mould but I am lazy to make the pie tee shells.
Crispy fried batter with rojak sauce and sprinkling of crushed peanuts.
Thin crispy pancakes with peanuts and canned corn filling.
Hubby ordered this unsweetened black coffee.
~~~~~
For dinner, we met up with the same friends at the Perak Stadium food court. On that evening, only a few stalls were open for business.
Hubby ended up ordering this yee mee with chicken and wine in a claypot. I took a few mouthfuls and it was tasty and flavourful.
I had a hard time deciding and finally ended up ordering this plate of yee mee. It looked good but it was disappointing because it had a weird taste. After hubby finished his noodle, I transferred the noodle from my plate into the claypot. The remaining soup took away the weird taste for me to finish the noodle. Someone was not willing to go home after dinner, so we ended up at Restoran Kam Wan Aneka Selera.
We ordered bbq fish (half a stingray) to share.
After this, everyone was satisfied and happy to go home.
White bougainvillea with variegated leaves from my garden.
Pink Mexican petunia blooms from my garden.
A friend blessed me with some cuttings and now I have plenty of cuttings to share with others.

Hallelujah! Thank you, Lord! How good you are!
Your love for us continues on forever.
Who can ever list the glorious miracles of God?
Who can ever praise him half enough?
Happiness comes to those who are fair to others
and are always just and good. Remember me too, O Lord,
while you are blessing and saving your people.
Let me share in your chosen ones' prosperity and
rejoice in all their joys, and receive the glory you give to them.

Dry Prawn Mee, Kolo Mee & Coffee In Penang

Last week, hubby and I followed a friend for a short day trip to Penang. Our friend came to pick us up from our house at about 7:30 am. The weather was nice and cool and it was a smooth drive all the way with light traffic. My hand phone's battery need charging so I didn't snap any photo along the way. Our friend took us to Big Crab Street Food at Fortune Park, Jelutong for breakfast. We ordered the following for 4 people to share.

2 plates prawn mee dry version. This is my first time tasting dry prawn mee. I still miss the prawn mee in soup version.
1 bowl kolo mee with bbq pork.
I love the noodle used for this kolo mee.
2 pieces of crispy thin peanut and coconut pancakes.
Peanut and coconut - yummy combination for the pancakes.
Some dim sum items for sharing.
Saw this hanging pot after I alighted from the car. Interesting to see plants growing upwards and downwards from the pot.
Our friend took us to this old coffee shop for Penang's coffee.
My unsweetened coffee with evaporated milk - kopi-C kosong.
Some toast with kaya (coconut egg spread) with coffee.
After our coffee treat, time to move on to get some street snack.
Famous Fried Tee Kuih (neen koh) in Penang.
Sold at RM 1.50 per piece.
We left Penang for Taiping at about 1 pm.
A variegated Gardenia flower from my garden.
Clay vases from Wood Craft museum, Ipoh.

Pretty words may hide a wicked heart,
just as a pretty glaze covers a common clay pot.

Bak Chang, Chinese Rojak + Pancake & Home Cooked Noodle Soup

As usual, we will go to our regular coffee shop after our morning walk for hubby's unsweetened black coffee (kopi-o kosong). As for me, I do not stick to any particular drink but I have a few favourites such as unsweetened coffee with evaporated milk (kopi-c kosong), unsweetened black coffee, herbal tea and plain warm water.

Breakfast at home.
We didn't order any food at the coffee shop because we had bak chang in the fridge. We had our drink, chatted awhile with our friend and walked back home.
I took out the bak chang from the fridge, steamed and unwrapped them for breakfast.
 Whoa! Just look at the big piece of belly fat hidden inside the bak chang! For those who dare to eat, this piece of fat will melt in the mouth!
~~~~~
Hubby accompanied me to the supermarket to buy some essentials. But instead of driving straight to the supermarket, he detoured to the shop selling Chinese rojak and pancake.
Hubby ordered a small plate of rojak.
 I ordered this thin pancake with peanut and corn cream filling.
 We each had a bowl of Bubur Cha Cha which is a sweet drink consisting of sweet potato, taro, tapioca, sago, coconut milk, sugar.
~~~~~
Simple home cooked dinner
 With the 2nd portion of shredded roast chicken breast, I used it to make soup with napa cabbage, preserved vegetable (dong choy) and 2 eggs.
Simple yet satisfying dinner for 2 people
Shredded chicken noodle soup + spicy sambal belacan with lime juice

Say just a simple 'Yes, I will' or 'No, I won't.'
Your word is enough.
To strengthen your promise
with a vow shows that something is wrong.

Lunch With Golden Girls At Dragon-i, Aeon Ipoh Station 18

Our last Golden Girls gathering was in January, about a week before the Chinese New Year celebration. Very soon, we will be planning to meet up again on a day convenient to all. But before that, I need to post our pre CNY lunch to make way for the next gathering.

For a change, we went out of Ipoh town centre to Aeon Ipoh Station 18 for our lunch. It took us some time to decide where and what to eat. Finally, we ended up at Dragon-i. I can't remember the details of the food we ordered, so I just roughly name them.
 First, we started with water chestnut sweet drink (3 hot and 1 cold)
 Fried noodle with prawns, cuttlefish, etc.
Deep fried crispy noodle with assorted ingredients and gravy.
 Fried rice
 Pancake
Filling - meat floss
 Crispy bean curd with filling.
Total cost of the above is about RM 164.
(including 10% service charge & 6% SST)

After lunch, the girls need to walk off some calaries.
 CNY decorations
 Red lanterns and pink cherry blossoms
 Not to be missed out - Valentine's Day decoration
 Valentine's Day celebrated a few days after CNY.
  Birds, palm trees and a water fountain inside the mall.

The following cats were picked up from the streets by animal lovers.
  They were fed, vaccinated, spayed and put up for adoption.
  Those interested are encouraged to adopt as many as desired.
 Adoption is free but a love gift is welcomed to help with the spay and vaccination payment

And so we should not be like cringing, fearful slaves,
but we should behave like God's very own children,
adopted into the bosom of his family,
and calling to him, "Father, Father."
