Dinner At Fong Seafood Restaurant, Bercham, Ipoh

It was a warm and sunny day.

Started with this morning sky at 7:20am.
Can you spot the 4 birds on the power line?
The sun shining through the tree branches - 7:30am.
~~~~~
Dinner with friends.
This is our first visit to this restaurant.
Fish head curry with assorted vegetables @ RM40 (approx. $9.25usd).
Fried pork rib with sticky sauce @ RM16 (approx. $3.70usd).
Baby French beans with garlic and preserved mustard green (char choy) @ RM16 (approx. 3.70usd). An egg was added to it. The server didn't stir the egg with the beans because we wanted to take photos.
After photo taking, we quickly mixed in the egg as the dish was still hot.
A very nice and satisfying dinner for 4 people.
Total cost of dinner = RM77.30
(incl. rice and plain water, we brought our own tea leaves).
This is the name of the restaurant.
This is the location.
A good friend shared the following photos with me.
Photos credited to Shirley T.
She saw this spider on her morning walk.
This spider looks big and dangerous to me.
Anger is cruel, and wrath is like a flood,
but jealousy is even more dangerous.
3 Days Before MCO 3.0
This was Friday, 3 days before Perak comes under MCO 3.0. As usual, our day started with our morning walk.
Sunrise at 7am.
There were less than a handful customers in the coffee shop, so we decided to dine-in. We chose the table outside the shop.
 Hubby ordered the radish pork leg Hakka noodle even though we just had it 2 days ago.
I ordered the fried rice vermicelli.
I asked for less noodle and more beansprouts.
Tiny wild mushrooms sprouting from the soil in the pot after many days of rain.
This is the first time I boiled sweet dessert (tong sui) with sea bird nest. The packet of sea bird nest was from one of the gift hampers I received for the New Year.
The sea bird nest was soaked, washed and drained. Meanwhile, I boiled dried longan, honey dates, rock sugar in water. When it was cooked and slow boiling, I added the sea bird nest, give it a quick stir and off the fire. I gave some of the sweet dessert to my neighbour.
Our strange combination dinner.
Hubby went out on his motorbike to buy chee cheong fun but the stall was closed. So he bought something else instead. I don't know what this is called, it is some kind of rojak.
After pouring the peanut sauce over it, I forgot to snap a photo.
He also bought the above stuffed items.
The 2nd and last portion of fish head + vegetables curry.
Strange or not, it was a satisfying dinner for hubby and I.
Automatic hydraulic monitor for tin mining. This photo was taken in 2015. I have not re-visited the show room since, so I don't know the status of the show room now.
This was pasted on the glass panel.
Sorry about the reflection on the glass.
In the same way, we can see and understand only a little about God now,
as if we were peering at his reflection in a poor mirror;
but someday we are going to see him in his completeness, face-to-face.
Now all that I know is hazy and blurred, but then I will see everything clearly,
just as clearly as God sees into my heart right now.
Fish Head + Vegetables Curry
This was Thursday before the MCO 3.0. There was a pink sunrise on our way out for our morning walk. It was later than our usual time.
Sunrise at 6:55am.
~~~~~
Back home in the garden after morning walk.
I get to harvest the above.
These will be used to cook fish head + vegetables curry for dinner.
Hubby's breakfast: black coffee and bread with kaya (coconut jam).
I had black coffee, toast with strawberry jam (forgot to snap photo).
Papaya and some biscuits for lunch.
Dinner: steamed rice with fish head + vegetables curry.
Ingredients for curry: 1 medium sized fish head + the freshly harvested home grown red and long green okras, and green eggplants and 1 medium sized pineapples. I divided the curry into 3 portions and gave 1 portion to my neighbour.

Work hard and cheerfully at all you do,
just as though you were working for the Lord
and not merely for your masters,
remembering that it is the Lord Christ who is going to pay you,
giving you your full portion of all he owns.
He is the one you are really working for.
(Colossians 3:23-24, The Living Bible-TLB)

Fish Head, Pineapple And Okra Curry

We were not the only early risers. These early birds were outside their owner's house by the roadside searching for food.

They have to be early to catch the worms. This rooster is very protective over his hen, making sure I do not go any nearer.
~~~~~
I have a frozen fish head in the freezer and half a pineapple in the fridge. One way of using both is to cook curry.
Home cooked fish head and pineapple curry.
I also added okra and tomato to the curry.
Blanched home grown chives, drizzled with garlic oil, oyster and soy sauce.
I divided the fish head curry into 3 portions. 1 gave 1 portion to my neighbour, 2nd portion for dinner and kept the 3rd portion for next day's dinner.
Bougainvillea by the roadside.
Can someone help me to describe the above colour?
~~~~~
Next day's dinner.
I warmed up the last portion of fish head and pineapple curry.
Steamed minced pork with preserved veggie (tung choy). It looks dry because I didn't add any water to the minced pork before steaming.
Sweet potato leaves with garlic, dried prawns, chilies and shrimp paste (belacan).
Another satisfying home cooked dinner. I love pineapple in curries.

In this act we see what real love is: it is not our love for God
but his love for us when he sent his Son to satisfy
God's anger against our sins.
(I John 4:10, The Living Bible-TLB)

That is why Christ said as he came into the world,
"O God, the blood of bulls and goats cannot satisfy you,
so you have made ready this body of mine
for me to lay as a sacrifice upon your altar.
(Hebrews 10:5, The Living Bible-TLB)

Sprouting Mung Beans (Taugeh) & Cooking Fish Head and Prawn Curry

We woke up late on this particular morning. I had an interrupted sleep because I woke up twice in the middle of the night to go to the washroom. It was probably because I drank too much water before I went to bed. It was a Sunday morning, and looking at the clock, we still have time to walk, returned to water my plants and still have time to get ready for online church.

Morning sky at 7:15am
~~~~~
Our friend ran out of bean sprout for her fried noodle business. She needed hubby to help get some bean sprout for her while waiting for the supplier to deliver the bean sprout. I was curious and I volunteered to accompany hubby because I was interested to see the place and how they sprout the beans.
I was free to snap photos. The above big plastic containers are used to sprout the mung beans. Our city, Ipoh is famous for the short, fat and juicy bean sprouts because of the underground water from the limestone hills in this region. The premium grade bean sprouts come from the Buntong Village, which is less than 5 minutes drive away and less than 15 minutes walking distance from our house.
It takes about 5 days of regular watering of the beans (about 4 times a day) and by the 6 days they are ready for sale. The underground water which is rich in nutrients is used to water the bean sprouts producing premium grade crispy, healthy and fresh bean sprouts.
 The above bean sprouts is ready to be harvested after this final watering.
The sprouts on the top are of low grade because they are long and skinny and usually used as animal feed. The next layer will be sold to noodle shops and the premium grade from the middle layer will be sold to the shops selling poached chicken and blanched bean sprouts also known as the popular "Ipoh nga choy kai".
We waited for the seller to pack a plastic bag of bean sprouts for us to send to our friend. They will deliver the rest when they go on their delivery round. Hubby and I are fans of bean sprouts and we love blanched bean sprouts or bean sprouts stir fried with salted fish.
Oleander pink flowers by the roadside.
~~~~~
Simple home cooked dinner.
I cooked curry using ready made curry paste, half a fish head, prawns (given by neighbour), pineapple, home grown long beans and long okra. Shared some of the curry with our friend and neighbour.
I steamed rice and warmed up the leftover fried "suk yue" fish. It was a delicious and satisfying dinner.

Two can accomplish more than twice as much as one,
for the results can be much better.
If one falls, the other pulls him up;
but if a man falls when he is alone, he's in trouble.
Also, on a cold night, two under the same blanket gain warmth
for each other, but how can one be warm alone?
