Nasi Kunyit, Prawn Noodle & Poached Chicken Leg

Most mornings, hubby will decide where to go for breakfast. I will only decide what to eat when I reached the place. On this particular morning, we went to Restoran Meng Meng Kee.

Hubby ordered nasi kunyit (turmeric glutinous rice + chicken curry).
I ordered prawn noodle which by itself is not spicy. I am still avoiding spicy food for the time being so I didn't touch the spicy sauce.

Home cooked dinner
I poached 2 chicken legs in slow boiling water + ginger slices + garlic. I didn't have spring onions so I used garlic. When the chicken legs are cooked, I shredded the meat off the bones. Then I drizzled oyster + soy sauce and garlic oil over it before serving.
2 bowls of chicken soup that was used for poaching the chicken. I was nice to drink without adding any salt.
Broccoli cooked with marinated minced meat.
(these were extra that were kept in the fridge).
Steamed brown rice.
I steamed the rice with a bit extra water to soften the rice for easy digestion.

The following hill / cave photos were taken outside the Gunung Lang area, facing the road.
Ipoh city is surrounded by limestone hills.
With the many limestone hills in Ipoh, the underground water is good for growing beansprouts.
 Ipoh is famous for blanched beansprout and poached chicken which attracts tourist from far and near.
There is a jogging / walking track along these hills.
Behind these hills is the Gunung Lang recreational park and lake.

Shall I look to the mountain gods for help?
No! My help is from Jehovah who made the mountains!
And the heavens too! He will never let me stumble, slip, or fall.
For he is always watching, never sleeping.

Turmeric Rice + Chicken Curry, Prawn Noodle & Toast With Butter+Kaya

Looking through the folder on my desktop, I found some nice sunrise photos. They were taken in August this year.

#1 taken at 6:55am, August 2022.
#2 taken at 7:35am, August 2022.
#3 taken at 7:10am, November 2022.
We are now in the midst of the monsoon season bringing lots of rain, even causing flood in certain areas, causing much suffering to the people and damage to properties.
~~~~~
After our morning walk, we drove to Restoran Meng Meng Kee, at  Kawasan Perindustrian Bandar Baru, Menglembu for breakfast.
Hubby ordered turmeric glutinous rice (nasi kunyit) with chicken curry.
I ordered prawn noodle.
A set of toast for sharing.
We requested for the butter and kaya to be served separately.
We will be going out to cast our votes tomorrow (19th Nov, Saturday). Today and tomorrow has been declared public holidays to encourage those eligible to turn up to vote. There was heavy traffic on the highway. The journey from KL to Ipoh took more than 4 hours for those who chose to travel home this morning.
Political parties' flags, posters and banners can be seen at some locations. This round, there is less flags compared to previous general elections. Tomorrow evening, most of us will be staying home, glued to the television or radio or etc. for the GE15 results.
all who love truth will rally to it;
then you can deliver your beloved people.
Turmeric Rice With Curry Chicken, Loh + Prawn Noodle & Murals
This was on the first day of August.
Morning sky at about 7am.
After our morning walk, we drove to Restoran Meng Meng Kee, Menglembu new township for breakfast.
Hubby ordered turmeric rice with chicken curry.
I ordered loh mee but requested for a mix of prawn noodle broth and loh mee broth so that the broth will not be too thick.
 After adding black vinegar, it tasted great.
Instead of meat slices, they give minced meat, prawns and half hard boiled egg.
My Bauhinia Kockiana before we put up the new trellis. The plant helped to shield our living room from the outside.
Now with the new trellis supporting the Bauhinia Kockiana.
The following photos were taken at the back lane behind the Old Town White Coffee facing the Ipoh Padang, Ipoh old town.
Tin mining activities.
Same as above.
Dulang washers.
A sculpture.
I didn't see any description or I may have missed it.
Painted on the tarmac of the back lane.
Hubby was waiting for me in the car so I didn't follow this painted crooked path.
and set my feet on a hard, firm path, and steadied me as I walked along.
Nasi Kunyit With Chicken Curry & Clay Pot Chicken Rice
Wishing everyone
HAPPY NEW YEAR 2022!
We are still in the rainy season. Even though it rained on and off, this particular morning was dry and clear for morning walk.
We set out for morning walk at about 6:50am.
7:14am.
7:15am
After morning walk, we drove to Menglembu for breakfast. After having tried some hor hee noodles at a few places, we still prefer the hor hee noodles in Restoran Meng Meng Kee.
Hubby ordered a bowl of hor hee with mung bean noodle (toong fun).
I wanted to order prawn noodle but the stall was closed.
I noticed a stall at a corner selling yellow or turmeric rice (nasi kunyit) with chicken curry and decided to give it a try. The rice was well cooked and chicken curry delicious. No regret, no complain, thumbs up! The next visit, I will try the savoury glutinous rice.
We ordered a glass of Chinese tea, 1 cup of kopi-C kosong and pieces of toast with butter and kaya. Forgot to take pic of the toast because it was served much later.
A new batch of long bean plants growing in my garden. They are now about 2 feet tall and have already started to flower.
~~~~~
Dine-out dinner because I didn't feel like cooking.
1 small clay pot chicken rice.
Hubby had started to mix the rice but I stopped him so that I could take a pic.
Blanched green (choy fah).
I have shown a pic of this baby pineapple in an earlier post. While watering the plant, I noticed 3 purple flowers at the base? There will be more purple flowers in days to come.

Nasi Kunyit, Assam Laksa, Neen Koh & Flower Crab Soup

Our morning walk started at about 6:54am.

No sign of sunrise at 6:54am.
Kledang Hill at 7:16am, reflection of sunrise.
7:21am
~~~~~
Hubby and a friend compared notes on nasi kunyi.
The friend recommended this place with a better nasi kunyit at the Dong Ku Teng Restaurant in Canning Garden.
Nasi kunyit or turmeric rice (glutinous rice coloured with turmeric powder).
Hubby had the nasi kunyit served with chicken curry.
This chicken curry has a thicken gravy compared to others place.
I wanted to order curry noodle from the same stall but was told that only the dry version was available which I didn't want. So, I ordered prawn noodle instead, also from the same stall. The seller is generous with the prawns and fish cake slices. This stall starts business at about 6:30am.
Midday sky.
Blue sky and white fluffy clouds.
~~~~~
Having nothing to do, we drove to Ipoh Garden to buy neen koh and assam laksa.
We bought 4 pieces of fried neen koh and 2 pieces of fried banana. Then bought 2 portions of assam laksa and 2 pieces of crunchy fried bean curd sheet from another stall.
We have tried the neen koh a few times but this is the first time buying the fried bananas.
Look at the sticky neen koh oozing out from between the taro and potato slices. Neen koh is steamed and hardened sweet glutinous rice cake.
Crunchy fried bean curd sheet from the assam laksa stall.
Assam laksa with sweet sour fish flakes broth.
Assam laksa broth with thick rice noodle (lai fun).
~~~~~
Simple home cooked dinner.
As I will be cooking flower crabs, I cooked egg with ginger strips soup for hubby. He had steamed rice with this soup.
As I was still quite full, I didn't want any rice. I cooked flower crabs with ginger and wine soup for myself. I haven't had this dish for a long, long time. I gave a portion to my neighbour.
To quarrel with a neighbor is foolish;
a man with good sense holds his tongue.
