Steamed Minced Pork With Preserved Vegetable & Home Grown Pineapple

This was the last Tuesday of March. We woke up to a cool morning.

Sunrise at 7:08am.
Starting out on our morning walk.
A friend gave me jar of preserved vegetable and I almost forgot about it.
I used some of the preserved vegetable to steamed with minced pork for our dinner.
I had some leftover curry gravy in the fridge. I added in home grown okras, pineapple and bean curd knots into the curry to make up 1 dish.
Our 2 dish dinner: Curry and steamed minced pork with preserved vegetable.

I think it was end of December or beginning of January this year that I posted about my pineapple in my garden.
This photo was taken end of December, 2021.
This was 7 days after the previous photo.
This was about 2.5 months after the previous photo.
And I finally get to harvest the pineapple end of March.
It took about 3 months for this pineapple to ripen on the plant.
Just enough for hubby and I.
It was worth the wait because it was sweet and juicy.

This photo was taken end of year 2014.
I hope the mural is still there but could be quite faded by now.

For you have a new life.
It was not passed on to you from your parents,
for the life they gave you will fade away.
This new one will last forever, for it comes from Christ,
God's ever-living Message to men.

Shredded Chicken Noodle, Polo Bun, Economy Rice & Popiah

This was on a Saturday in January this year. As usual, we were ready to start our morning walk. But first, I took a few snapshots of the lovely sunrise.

Sunrise at 7:15am.

Sunrise at 7:25am.

~~~~~
Our breakfast at Kopitiam Huan He, No. 32, Jalan Ng Weng Hup, Taman Pertama, Ipoh.
Hubby ordered shredded chicken noodle (kai si hor fun).
The boss added chicken liver to the bowl of noodle.
I wanted something light so I ordered 1 plain polo bun (cut into 2).
We shared unsweetened coffee (kopi-c kosong) and Chinese tea.
Home grown pineapple in my garden.
We went back to the same coffee shop for lunch.
We shared a plate of economy mixed rice (chap fun).
From the look of the pineapple, it will be another tiny pineapple.
For dinner, we had popiah at the nearby GP food court.
I forgot what else we ordered because I didn't take any photo.
The pineapple is still green.
Waiting for it to ripen.
Here is another story illustrating what the Kingdom of God is like:
"A farmer sowed his field and went away, and as the days went by,
the seeds grew and grew without his help.
For the soil made the seeds grow. First a leaf blade pushed through,
and later the heads of wheat formed, and finally the grain ripened.
and then the farmer came at once with his sickle and harvested it."
Nasi Kunyit With Chicken Curry & Clay Pot Chicken Rice
Wishing everyone
HAPPY NEW YEAR 2022!
We are still in the rainy season. Even though it rained on and off, this particular morning was dry and clear for morning walk.
We set out for morning walk at about 6:50am.
7:14am.
~~~~~
After morning walk, we drove to Menglembu for breakfast. After having tried some hor hee noodles at a few places, we still prefer the hor hee noodles in Restoran Meng Meng Kee.
Hubby ordered a bowl of hor hee with mung bean noodle (toong fun).
I wanted to order prawn noodle but the stall was closed.
I noticed a stall at a corner selling yellow or turmeric rice (nasi kunyit) with chicken curry and decided to give it a try. The rice was well cooked and chicken curry delicious. No regret, no complain, thumbs up! The next visit, I will try the savoury glutinous rice.
We ordered a glass of Chinese tea, 1 cup of kopi-C kosong and pieces of toast with butter and kaya. Forgot to take pic of the toast because it was served much later.
A new batch of long bean plants growing in my garden. They are now about 2 feet tall and have already started to flower.
~~~~~
Dine-out dinner because I didn't feel like cooking.
1 small clay pot chicken rice.
Hubby had started to mix the rice but I stopped him so that I could take a pic.
Blanched green (choy fah).
I have shown a pic of this baby pineapple in an earlier post. While watering the plant, I noticed 3 purple flowers at the base? There will be more purple flowers in days to come.
It is possible to give away and become richer!
It is also possible to hold on too tightly and lose everything.
Yes, the liberal man shall be rich!
By watering others, he waters himself.
Assam Sambal Prawns With Noodle
Our day started with a lovely morning.
No rain or drizzling with clear sky at 6:46am.
On the opposite side, clear blu sky over Kledang Hill.
The birds on these branches were loudly chirping away.
Sunrise at 7:12am.
 On the opposite side.
Misty Kledang Hill.
~~~~~
What to cook for dinner?
I have prawns and I also have blended chili paste in the freezer. I wanted to cook something which I haven't cooked for a long time.
Assam Sambal Prawns with lots of shallots and onions. It turned out a bit spicy, sourish and sweet. An appetizing combination which I love.
Assam sambal prawns would be great with steamed rice but we ran out of rice that evening. I was lazy to take the car out just to buy the rice so we ended up having noodle with the assam sambal prawns.
A baby pineapple from one of my pineapple plants.
Pineapple plants take a long time to fruit. Sometimes, it takes more than a year.

 But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruits in our lives:
love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
gentleness, and self-control.
There is no law against these things!

Pineapple & Mantis Prawn Fried Rice For Dinner

It was still dark when we started out on our morning walk. The moon can be seen clearly above us.

When I took this snapshot of the moon at 6:33am, it was partially concealed by the dark cloud.
On our way home, I stopped to take a snapshot of this multi layered petals pink hibiscus by the roadside.
~~~~~
I don't know what to do with the last packet of frozen mantis prawns. I was thinking of frying pineapple rice for dinner and adding the mantis prawns to the fried rice seemed a good idea.
Pineapple fried rice with mantis prawns.
Ingredients used: cooked rice, mantis prawns, pineapple chunks, egg, bird's eye chilies, big onions, minced garlic, tom yum paste, fish sauce, salt & sugar to taste. I also added in raisins and toasted cashew nuts.
Blanched home grown sweet potato leaves and okra, drizzled with garlic oil, oyster & soy sauce.
Delicious and satisfying dinner for 2 retirees.
- same as above -
I haven't re-visited this place so I don't know if this place is still open for public viewing.
Shout for joy before the Lord, O earth!
Obey him gladly; come before him, singing with joy.
Try to realize what this means - the Lord is God!
He made us - we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
Go through his open gates with great thanksgiving;
enter his courts with praise.
Give thanks to him and bless his name.
For the Lord is always good.
He is always loving and kind, and his faithfulness
goes on and on to each succeeding generation.
