Yesterday morning (108th day MCO), we went out for our morning walk, stopped for a cup of coffee at our regular coffee shop, then walked back home. Upon reaching home, we drove out to town to meet up with friends for breakfast. Someone recommended this curry noodle stall, saying that the curry noodle is both tasty and cheap.
We located this stall in Ipoh new town and ordered 4 bowls of curry noodles. They have square wooden tables and long wooden benches, just nice for 4 people with social distancing.
A bowl of curry noodles with generous portion of bbq pork and roast pork costing less than RM5! This curry noodle is really cheap, looks good, and delicious. In Cantonese slang, I think it could be said as "peng, leng, cheng".

Dinner at Restoran Chuen Kah Fook, Falim for 6 people.
This is our first foodie group dinner gathering since MCO started in March.
Nyonya assam patin fish slices - sweet sourish appetizing dish.
Hebal chicken (half a chicken) with blended aromatic ginger (sa keong).
Blended aromatic Ginger (sa keong in Cantonese).
Stewed pumpkin and taro (yam) dish.
Green amaranth and century egg soup.
Total cost of dinner for 6 people = RM93.80
If all is well, we will be meeting up regularly from now on.
We passed by these free range chickens on one of our morning walks.
These days this is not a common sight in residential area.
Maybe, one of these days, I might fenced off a small area in my garden to rear some chickens. But first, have to convince my hubby to put up the fencing for me.

DeleteSo surprising to see the chicken running free like that. Who do they belong to? Someone may steal the chicken for food. I would say your husband would say - 60% no, 40% yes.

Deletehah..hah.. my dad reared chicken once when I was in secondary school. When the chicken was slaughtered and cooked, me and my brothers refused to eat the chicken. It was like eating a pet! I dare not speculate what your hubby might say. LOL!
ReplyDeleteI used to cry when my mom slaughtered our own chickens. I will never dare slaughter chickens on my own. My father in law used to do that. My hubby will mostly likely say a big "NO" la. Ha ha.

The signboard of the eatery is partly hidden by branches of a big tree. This is one of the reason hubby will say "No".

DeleteI guess he will say no. Not easy to slaugter a chicken with all furs and it feels like killing a pet for food. I dont dare to eat & i felt pitiful for killing it in front of my eyes. Curry noodles looks good!

DeleteThe assam fish must be very appetising. Love eating the herbal chicken with aromatic ginger. The pumpkin and yam dish must be very tasty too. I love all the dishes! Around rm100 for 6 people, in sing dollars, will be around S$5 per person, where to get that kind of price in sg? My mom used to rear our own chickens when we are kids, do not feel good when she slaughtered the chickens for food.
