6th Saturday Under MCO

Yesterday was the 6th Saturday under MCO and also the 39th day MCO. Most of the day was cloudy and by late afternoon, there was a bad thunderstorm with strong wind blowing, rumbling thunder and lightning. There was flash flood in some parts of Ipoh and there was a case of a car buried under a fallen big tree.
View of the Kledang Hill (west side) at 7:18 am.
Sunrise on the opposite side (east) at 7:19 am.
Goji berries or wolf berries plant from my garden.
I don't know how long I will have to wait for it to bear berries.
Different types of cactus I brought back from our last holiday in Cameron Highland.
Dark clouds on the east side at 7:50 am.
Clear sky over Kledang Hill (east side) at 7:50 am.
Hubby went to buy breakfast from the steamed rice noodle (chee cheong fun) stall. We called up one day earlier to place our order to avoid the long queue.
Our breakfast orders packed ready for pick up.
Chee cheong fun with a mixture of sauces for me (small portion).
Chee cheong fun with crispy onion, onion oil, sesame seeds and soy sauce (dry version) for hubby (small portion).
Side order #1: pig's skin and tofu puff curry.
Side order #2: Crunchy bean curd sheet.
1st time under MCO, hubby gets to enjoy his favourite chee cheong fun.

Lunch
A friend blessed us with 2 sweet buns.
I sliced the buns into 4 slices each and spread home made kaya (egg and coconut milk jam) and strawberry jam (blessing from a friend) on them.
~~~~~
Sweet and healthy snack in between lunch and dinner.
I cut 2 mangoes for hubby and I.
Hope to buy again on my next trip to the fruit stall.
Harvests from my garden
I need some ginger for cooking, so I dug out some homegrown ginger from my garden.
I harvested malabar spinach, long beans, and red okra for dinner.
I used some of the harvested ginger to cook the above stewed dish which consisted of pig's trotter, chicken feet, duck feet, dried shittake mushrooms and Chinese cabbage.
Blanched malabar spinach, long beans, and red okra, drizzled with garlic oil and soy sauce.
Dinner for 2 people.
For the Lord is King and rules the nations.
Both proud and humble together,
all who are mortal - born to die - shall worship him.
(Psalm 22:28-29, The Living Bible-TLB)
  1. I am so surprised to see your wolfberry plant and well harvested ginger roots. I always thought that wolfberries are grown in China and Korea. Lolol
    Your house enjoys such a good location that commands the whole sky view from far.
    1. It all started when I was testing to see if I can grow wolfberry plant and was so happy that they can grow. Now have to wait and see if they will bear berries.
  3. Over here it rains in the afternoons too with thunder which send me to quickly switch off and unplug my computer and router! The buns you were blessed with look so fresh and fluffy. Since the MCO I have not had mangoes. I must ask my partner to buy some next weekend.
  8. So good to be able to call up one day earlier to place orders. Very efficient too. Nice chee cheong fun breakfast. Love your stewed everything with wong nga pak vege. The wong nga pak vege will soak up the gravy to be very flavourful. So yummy! The soft bun has a yellow base - is the yellow from butter? Love the vegetables from your garden and also the ginger. Both of you are very healthy to be eating home grown vegetables.
    1. Thank you, Mun. My friend bought the yellow buns for us. I don't know if the yellow is from butter.
  9. Now that CCF looks very much like the one I just ordered. Which hails from its original stall in Canning Garden. Cost was RM5 for the sauce version but delivery charges was RM13. Luckily there was a RM5 discount from the app.
    Wow your home-grown ginger is HUGE. I only managed to harvest teensy roots and have now given up planting.
    1. These days, there so many food varieties we can order online and have them delivered to our house. You will need to feed the ginger plants with fertilizer to get big size ginger.
  12. That sounds bad...tree falling on car. I have got to try to buy a mango and taste them. Trouble is, I won't know if I get a ripe one that tastes like they are supposed to.
    1. I usually buy 1 or 2 mangoes to try first. If they taste good, then I will buy more.
  14. I tried growing ginger in a flower pot on my porch once but didn't have any luck. I got a few shoots but nothing underground. - Margy
    1. Maybe you didn't wait long enough for the rhizomes to form. Ginger takes about 9 months or more to harvest. They need sunlight to grow well.
