The New Year 2021 started with lots of rain. It has been raining almost everyday. There were days of non-stop heavy downpour and some days with light showers and gray skies. It was both scary and sad to see videos of natural disasters such as landslides, bridges being washed away, and serious floods in many parts of the country. Even the plants in my garden have been affected by the excessive rainfall.
Even before it could ripen, some of the figs burst opened because they were getting too much water from the rain.
Our friends came over to give us 2 slices from a birthday cake (chocolate tiramisu cake).
I had a slice of cake and some guava pickle for lunch while hubby went out for his lunch.
Hubby came back from his lunch with the above roast pork. A friend met him at the coffee shop where he was having lunch and she blessed us with the roast pork. I ate a few pieces and kept the rest for dinner.
~~~~~
Home cooked dinner.
Stir fried roast pork with sesame oil, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, and spring onion.
Blanched green vegetable (baby choy sum) and drizzled with garlic oil and soy sauce.
Cooked 2 bricks of dried noodles, mixed with garlic oil, light and dark soy sauce.
Simple home cooked dinner for 2 people on a cold, rainy day.
For the past few nights and early mornings, the temperature was about 22 to 23 deg C and it felt like we were up in the highlands. We slept without having to use the fan, just nice with the cool fresh air coming in through the open windows.
By wisdom the LORD founded the earth;
by understanding he created the heavens.
By his knowledge the deep fountains of the earth burst forth,
and the dew settles beneath the night sky.
(Proverbs 3:19-20, New Living Translation-NLT)
DeleteDoes it ever flood badly there? Is your house safer on high ground?
ReplyDeleteThis year the flood is more serious than other years. Our house not affected because we are on higher ground.
DeleteTasty dinner dishes! Wow! That friend gave your husband so much siew yuk! Must be worth rm30. So sad to see the people affected by the flood. Are there any figs remaining on the tree or all of them burst?
ReplyDeleteI still have a few more figs on the fig plant. Not sure whether I get to eat any of them.
DeleteMuy buena comida. Besos.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Teresa.
DeleteSad that you have alot of rain and your figs burst open before ability to eat it. Can you still eat it or not? We had quite a lot of rain on Wed. I was able to go outside today and get a bunch of branches off ground and into yard debris bin and take it to sidewalk where it gets picked up tomorrow, as it's garbage day as well. You food always looks delicious. I like the look of the cake slices you were given. YUMMMY!!! Have a good day!!
ReplyDeleteIt couldn't be eaten as the fig was not ripe yet and fruit flies were attracted to the burst fig.
DeleteThe roasted pork looked delicious. Nice dishes you cooked.
