Assam Laksa With Instant Paste & Steamed Pork Rib In Sour Plum Sauce

It was a warm Sunday morning. There was hardly any breeze.

Sunrise at 7:09am

Another warm and humid day.
Toast and Bru coffee+nestum for me.
Wat tan hor and milo for hubby.
The hot weather seems to be good for this golden leaves plant.
Does anyone knows the id of this plant?
~~~~~
I bought a pineapple which was not ripe and very sour. I thought of using the pineapple for curry but changed my mind when I saw a packet of instant assam laksa paste which I bought to try.
I boiled the pineapple in some water and added in the instant assam laksa paste. I let it simmer for some time before adding in the canned mackerel or sardine fish in tomato sauce. I only used the fish and discarded the tomato sauce. I thought I had 2 small cans of sardine fish but it turned out that 1 of them was a fried mackerel in chili sauce. So, I ended up with less fish flakes in the laksa soup.
I use rice vermicelli (beehoon) for the laksa.
Using lots of pineapple gave the assam laksa soup a sweet taste.
I used AA1 number one Instant Asam Laksa paste.
~~~~~
The bottle of sour plum sauce will be expiring soon so I need to finish it as fast as I can. I used the sour plum sauce to steam pork rib for dinner.
Marinate for pork rib before steaming:
salt, sugar, chopped garlic, soy sauce, sour plum sauce and bird's eye chilies.
Ayam Brand fried mackerel or sardine in chili sauce which I accidentally opened thinking it was mackerel in tomato sauce. This is the first time we have tasted this and we like it.
Blanched baby choy sum, drizzled with garlic oil, oyster and soy sauce.
Appetizing dinner for 2 people.
We finished the fried mackerel in chili sauce and have leftover sour plum sauce pork rib which we kept in the fridge for next day.

I want to suggest that you finish what you started to do a year ago,
for you were not only the first to propose this idea,
but the first to begin doing something about it.

Salted Chicken & Salad For Dinner

On this Tuesday morning, we got back in time to catch this lovely sunrise. I took these snapshots outside my house the moment we reached home.

Sunrise at 7:15am
Sunrise and a lone bird on the power line.
Time to sweep the porch area and water my plants.
A pink hibiscus and flower buds by the roadside in front of somebody's house.
~~~~~
After reaching home, hubby went out on his motorcycle to buy breakfast.
He bought fried rice vermicelli with pork slices and prawns (prawns hidden underneath the noodle). I took a few mouthful of this noodle.
Leftover sambal sardine.
Sambal sardine on cream crackers for me.
This is my simple and yummy kind of breakfast.
A close up of the pink hibiscus we passed by on our walk home.
~~~~~
Dinner
My neighbour gifted us a salted chicken for our dinner.
To heat up, I steamed the chicken inside its wrappers.
Cucumber and tomatoes.
Boiled 2 medium sized potato.
1 big onion.
Roasted Sesame Salad Dressing for the salad.
I couldn't find Kewpie roasted sesame dressing in Billion Mart, so I bought the above Hellmann brand to try. A product of Philippians.
I didn't cook any rice. The above was more than enough for both of us. We kept half the salad ingredient in the fridge for next day.

Day by day the Lord takes care of the innocent,
and they will receive an inheritance that lasts forever.
They will not be disgraced in hard times;
even in famine they will have more than enough.

Fried Noodle, Chicken Varuval & Fried Chicken For Dinner

Lately, I have not been spending much time in the garden. One reason is that I do not have the mood for gardening, and another is that the weather is very warm. I just do the watering and harvesting whatever can be harvested. Due to the neglect, the leaves of the eggplants have been seriously infected with pest. The only thing I did was to remove those leaves that were infested. While watering the plants, I noticed that the chives are flowering again.

The chives buds can be harvested and they are good for stir fries. The seeds can be collected to grow more chives but I already have 4 pots of chives which is more than enough for our consumption.
It is good to slow down and take time to enjoy the pretty tiny chive flowers.
~~~~~
Breakfast
Received a glutinous rice dumpling (bak chang) from a friend. Hubby and I shared the dumpling. Hubby had a piece of bread with coconut jam (kaya) and I had a piece of bread with sambal sardine.
A close up shot of this pretty Cup of Gold flower.
~~~~~
In this warm weather, my kitchen is like a sauna.
A good excuse not to cook dinner, so we had take-away dinner.
Fried rice vermicelli with sambal (Indian style).
We love this chicken varuval, bought from the same Indian stall.
We also bought a piece of fried chicken from the next stall.
Dinner for 2 people.
Evening sky at 7:10pm.
Looked very quiet outside.
Most families will be having their dinner at this time.

Lord, when doubts fill my mind, when my heart is in turmoil,
quiet me and give me renewed hope and cheer.

Arrow Root Pork Rib Soup & Sambal Canned Sardin For Dinner

This was 1 week before Ipoh starts EMCO (enhanced movement control order). As usual, we did our morning walk and the following bird photos were taken during our walk home.

Birds in a line on the roof.
Birds in flight.
On the ground, we did our walking exercise.
Up above, the birds are doing their flying exercise, circling above us.
~~~~~
Back home, I took out 2 glutinous rice dumplings from the fridge which hubby bought from the night market the day before and steamed them.
Dumplings (bak chang) in their leaf wrappings.
Our simple breakfast with 2-in-1 black coffee.
Both the white and black dumplings are equally delicious.
~~~~~
Simple lunch
I bought these 2 vegetarian bean curd rolls from the roadside stall on our morning walk. I unwrapped one and cut for lunch.
Hubby's lunch.
I took out the previous night's leftover soup, heated it up for my lunch.
I took 2 cream crackers with strawberry jam with soup for lunch.
~~~~~
Dinner
I boiled soup.
Ingredients used: arrow root, carrot, pork rib, red dates and gojiberries.
I used canned sardine to cook sambal sardine.
This can of sardine was bought during the 2nd MCO for cooking assam laksa but somehow it didn't happen.
I used up the remaining lettuce and capsicum for salad.
Steamed rice for hubby. No rice for me so I ate this plate of salad.
Only a small portion of sambal sardine was eaten so I kept the rest to make sardine sandwich for my breakfast.
Dredging buckets used for tin mining.
These were displayed at Palong Tin Mining Museum @ Kinta Riverfront, Ipoh.
Worship the Lord with the beauty of holy lives.
Let the earth tremble before him.
Tell the nations that Jehovah reigns! He rules the world.
His power can never be overthrown. He will judge all nations fairly.
Let the heavens be glad, the earth rejoice;
let the vastness of the roaring seas demonstrate his glory.
Praise him for the growing fields, for they display his greatness.
Let the trees of the forest rustle with praise.
