Delicious Assam Laksa At Air Itam, Penang.

The 2nd day of the church family camp was a Sunday. We had a few hours of free time and we used it drive to Air Itam for the famous Assam Laksa. The last time I had eaten this assam laksa was many years ago.

I know there are many places in Penang selling delicious assam laksa. All I know or can remember is that I have tasted this famous assam laksa and I love it. Thanks to our friends who are willing to go with me even though it was a very hot and humid afternoon. As usual, the place was very crowded.

Here is the famous Air Itam Assam Laksa stall. We had to stand and wait behind seated customers to secure a table for 4 people. This is not a place for those who are particular with the cleanliness of the surrounding and wanting to eat in comfort.

From those old days until now, they are still enjoying a roaring business.

Their customers consist of locals and foreigners.

Once we secured a table, we ordered 4 bowls of assam laksa and 4 glasses of sugarcane water from the nearby stall selling drinks.

Service was fast and in a short while, 4 bowls of yummy-licious laksa were brought to our table.

The smell of the laksa activated my salivary glands and I almost forgot to take snapshots in my eagerness to tuck in the laksa!

White rice noodle in spicy, sweet and sourish fish base soup.

Love the abundance of  blended fish meat in the soup.

The black sauce is the prawn paste (hae ko in Hokkien).

I mixed the prawn paste or hae ko into the soup and I was ready to tuck in. I even finished up the soup. My friends nodded in approved after tasting the laksa. Finally, my desire for assam laksa has been fulfilled!

The Lord is fair in everything he does and full of kindness.

He is close to all who call on him sincerely.

He fulfills the desires of those who reverence and trust him;
