First Fruit From My Brunswick Fig Plant.

It was in the middle of February this year that I made my first trip to the Figs Farm in Simpang Pulai, Perak. If you are interested to read my previous posts on my fig plants, you can click here and here.

This is my first fig plant that I bought from the Figs Farm. It was my first time trying to grow a fig plant. So to be on the safe side, I am only willing to invest in the cheapest and smallest plant at the farm. If the plant die on me, I won't lose so much. Lol!

I didn't re-pot it immediately because I wanted it to get accustomed to my garden.

Meanwhile I faithfully fed it with organic fertilizer that I bought from the farm. Somehow, I didn't get to re-pot it even after it had grown to more than triple its original height.

I noticed that it only grew upwards and not sideways. So I decided to re-pot it into a big flower pot. I used normal garden soil bought from the plant nursery and watered it once a day. I fertilize it about once in every 2 weeks.

Sign of more fruits appearing ....

The first fruit is turning yellowing and it is the sign of the fruit ripening.
Took a close up shot of the ripening fig. I waited to see if it will change to deeper colour.

The 2nd and 3rd fig fruits on the Brunswick fig tree.
And the 4th and 5th fig fruits!
This fig plant is now about 3.75 feet tall.

The first fruit has turned slightly reddish brown and it was a bit soft. I thought it was about time to harvest it. I was feeling excited to harvest and taste the first fruit!
I could easily open the fruit with a slight squeeze with my thumbs and fingers from both hands. Hmmm...the softer part where it was more reddish brown tasted much sweeter than the part that was still yellowish. The part that is nearer to the stalk is slightly crunchy. Maybe I should have harvested it a day or two later. My curiosity and taste buds is now satisfied! I am looking forward to more harvests and I am glad I bought this plant.

You supply it, and they gather it.
You open wide your hand to feed them,
and they are satisfied with all your bountiful provision.

Seafood Noodle & Roti Canai At Restoran Blue Sky

I have been wanting to try the seafood noodle at Restoran Blue Sky for a long time but have never got to do so. My friend had tried this seafood noodle and according to her, it is very good and worth the money.
Last Monday, we were at Restoran Blue Sky for our breakfast and this time I ordered this seafood noodles. If I remember correctly, this seafood noodle costs RM 9.00.
The seafood noodle consists of prawns, clams, minced pork, fish, cuttlefish, etc. The noodle was buried under the fresh seafood and the soup was very tasty.

On another morning at Restoran Blue Sky, I didn't feel like eating noodle.
I ordered roti canai or roti prata with paruppu curry.
This roti canai was served with white sugar which I didn't take at all. Next time I must remember to inform the lady not to give sugar.
This is the paruppu curry or dhall curry.

After breakfast, we walked to our car and I saw this cat stretching on the tar road near to our car.
It was really enjoying a good stretch.
Then it just closed its eyes and to a catnap.
Looked so sound asleep.....
Then it took a peek at me. The clicking of the camera must have disturbed it's sleep.
It got up and walked to a nearby car and stopped beside the wheel of the car.
Hahaha...and this is the way it slouched against the car wheel!
Such a relaxed pose for my camera!

and the golden bowl is broken;
before the pitcher is shattered at the spring,
and the wheel broken at the well,
and the dust returns to the ground it came from,
and the spirit returns to God who gave it.

Cold Desserts For Lunch & Thai Food For Dinner.

It was a Monday morning and once again we were back at the park for our early morning walk. I was warming up on the initial round and out came my phone camera to catch this sunrise. Quickly took a snapshot before I resumed my walk.
It was about 7 am.
10 minutes later, I took another shot of the sunrise over the pond.
Today, I have no breakfast photos to show.
But I do have photos of cold desserts for our lunch.
Our friends dropped by for a visit and they wanted cold desserts. Hubby and I had the cold desserts for our lunch that day. This is hubby's sweet corn with ice shaving.
This is my mixed treasures cold dessert with ice shaving (ice kacang). I love this with plenty of salted peanuts.
Sunset at about 6.40 pm. That night we had dinner at the nearby food court.
Cloud formation.
This was hubby's dinner from the Thai food stall.
Stinky beans with minced pork and rice.
I also ordered from the same stall but I prefer noodle.
Stir fried tom yam glass or transparent vermicelli.

Noodles For Dinner At Restoran Yan Ming, Taman Pertama, Ipoh.

It was a Thursday evening and the weather was very warm. Hubby and I don't feel like eating rice. We decided to eat noodles at Restoran Yan Ming in Taman Pertama. We were early and ahead of the dinner crowd, so service was fast.
Rice vermicelli with preserved salted black beans - single portion.
Stewed yee meen or prefried noodles - single portion.
Sweet potato leaves stir fried with fermented bean curd.
Thank God for a delicious dinner.

Little Arrowhead Bulbs (Nga Koo) From My Garden.

I did a previous post on "Chinese Arrowhead Shoots Growing In My Garden" and you can click here if you are interested to read about it. And this post is an update on the progress of the arrowhead shoots growing in my garden. Initially, I was very diligent in watering the arrowhead shoots and keeping them moist throughout the day. After a while with a few short holidays in between, I sort of forgotten about the arrowhead shoots.
Now with the hot season, the leaves of the arrowhead shoots are not as healthy as before. They are no longer dark green and the leaves are smaller in size. I think it is now about 6 months since the shoots appeared and I was curious whether there are arrowheads forming under the shoots.
To satisfy my curiosity, I carefully dug out one of the bigger plants to check and these were what I have found.
I found some small bulbs of nga koo or arrowheads.
The big round one were about the size of a fifty cents coin and there were smaller ones. I returned the arrowhead bulbs to the pots, covered up with soil and hope they will continue to grow. Maybe I will dig out one of the bigger shoots in a few months time to check again.
These are the leaves stalks. They are spongy with air spaces throughout the length of the stalks.
This together with the roots intact, I planted them back into the soil.
Hopefully in a few months time, I will have another update post to share.
Who knows, I might even get to harvest a few arrowheads from my garden. Lol!

I am told you can solve all kinds of mysteries.

If you can tell me the meaning of those words,

I will clothe you in purple robes, with a gold chain around your neck,

and make you the third ruler in the kingdom.
