Steamed Big Bun, Lotus Leaf Rice, Baked Buns & Pandan Sponge Cake

I overslept and woke up late. By the time we set out for morning walk, it was past 7am.

Sunrise at 7:20am.
This is on the reverse side.

Breakfast bought from the nearby dim sum restaurant.
Our shared breakfast.
Big steamed bun (left) and glutinous rice wrapped in lotus leaf (right).
Milo (left) for hubby and Bru coffee (right) for me.
Filling inside the glutinous rice.
Filling inside the steamed big bun.
I also bought 2 baked buns with bbq pork filling and 1 sponge cake for lunch or snack.
Mid morning, our neighbour bought 4 packets of nasi lemak for us. We opened 2 packets and ate for lunch. The remaining 2 packets we kept in the fridge for dinner.
Purple heart plants in hanging pot.
~~~~~
For dinner, I cooked sambal petai or sambal stinky beans.
I steamed to heat up the nasi lemak from lunch.
We ate sambal stinky beans with the nasi lemak.
Every morning we passed by this house with beautiful garden.
That is hubby admiring the beautiful plants while I took this snapshot.
Steamed Fish & Porridge For 2 Dinners In A Row
Last Wednesday Thursday was a public holiday and we didn't go for our morning walk. Instead, we waited for a friend to come take us for breakfast.
Took this snapshot of the sunrise at 7:24 am while waiting for our friend.
~~~~~
Harvest from my garden
I harvested some okras and white brinjals. The 2 brinjals with black spots have to be thrown away because of worms inside. I also harvested some chives and chives buds.
~~~~~
Home cooked dinner - Day 1.
I blanched the okras, white brinjals, some chives and chives buds. Then I drizzled garlic oil, oyster and soy sauce before serving.
I steamed 3 white pomfrets (palm size) with chopped ginger, garlic and onions. After steaming, I drizzled with oyster and soy sauce, Chinese cooking wine, garlic oil and garnished with home grown spring onions.
Simple home cooked dinner with rice porridge.
Crepe ginger by the roadside.
~~~~~
Home cooked dinner - Day 2.
I boiled soup with Sichuan pickled vegetable (char choy) with pork ribs, carrot and tomatoes. Hubby loves this appetizing soup.
Special request from hubby - Onion omelette.
Steamed Threadfin with chopped ginger, garlic and onion. When cooked drizzled with oyster and soy sauce and Chinese cooking wine and garnished with lots of home grown spring onions.
Simple home cooked dinner with steamed basmathi rice.
While our car was waiting at the junction, I took a snapshot of the Ipoh city town hall.
Another quick snapshot of the Ipoh city town hall.

Lor Mee For Breakfast & Home Cooked Dinner

Monday morning, after our morning walk we went to Kedai Kopi Sin Choi Yuen for breakfast. I have not eaten Lor Mee for a long, long time so I wanted to try Lor Mee from the pan mee stall. Hubby doesn't like lor mee so he ordered fried dough or youtiao. Both of us ordered unsweetened black coffee.

My breakfast: Lor Mee with unsweetened black coffee.

I enjoyed this bowl of lor mee because the gravy is not too thick. The boss knows that I prefer noodle.

Home cooked dinner
Freshly harvested okra and chive buds from my garden.
Leafy veggie freshly harvested from my garden.
Simple dinner for 2 people.
We had blanched home grown veggie, 1 salted egg and 2 hard boiled eggs, and preserved fish with black beans. Rice porridge for hubby and mine is rice porridge with pumpkin.

Thursday's Mish Mash

This was Monday morning after we have finished our morning walk and our breakfast at our regular coffee shop.
Morning sky at 7:35 am.
I took some snapshots of these hibiscus growing by the roadside on our walk home.
This is also our country's national flower.
This baby banana plant given to me by a friend is growing nicely in a big pot. It is grown more for the leaves to be used in cooking. Hopefully, it will also bear fruits.
Chives flower buds.

Lunch & Dinner
I boiled ABC soup with pork (the "armpit" part that "never see the sky") ABC soup is rich in vitamins A, B, C, and the ingredients used is usually carrot, tomatoes, potatoes, onions, and etc, with some crushed white peppercorns.
Since we had an early and light breakfast, we had steamed rice and ABC soup for lunch with spicy chilly oil as condiment.
The remaining soup was re-heated and we each had a bowl of soup for dinner. There was enough meat and ingredients from the soup to fill our tummy without having to take rice or noodle.
After my son left to go back to work early Sunday morning after spending the weekend with us, it was time to wash the quilt, bed sheet, and etc. This is where I hang out my washing in the garden for quick drying.
Surprisingly, I don't seem to have the time to sew quilts after I retired.

Salted Eggs, Stuffed Home Grown Eggplant & Bitter Gourd

We woke up early and were out of our house for the morning walk at about 6:30 am.
Grateful for the bright light that brightens up the streets for us.
That is hubby walking ahead of me while I was taking some shadow shots.
We each had a metal stick. The stray dogs are smart. When they see us holding stick, they stay away.
Testing out the pathway that nobody seems to be using. For the time being, we prefer to walk where there is less crowd.
~~~~~
Breakfast with friends.
We took our friends to Restoran 1010 for Hor Hee noodles. We couldn't get a table for 4 people so we have to take 2 small tables.
I love to add bird's eye chilies to my noodle.
~~~~~
I received a call from a friend to collect some durians from her house.
These are hill durians which her husband bought and kept some for us.
The colour of the durian flesh may be pale but the taste is good.
~~~~~
Home cooked dinner
I made stuffed eggplant (white brinjals) and white bitter gourds with minced pork mixed with fish paste.
I used the excess minced pork + fish paste mixture to make patties.
Steamed white eggplant or white brinjals.
Serve it with dried prawn sambal.
I cooked 2 home made salted eggs. These 2 are from the 2nd batch home made salted eggs. One egg turned out very nicely. The 2nd one didn't look good, probably the egg was not fresh. Taste wise, it was not as nice as the other good egg.
For dinner, I boiled rice porridge. We finished the steamed eggplant and salted eggs.
Kept most of stuffed eggplants, stuffed bitter gourd and patties for next day's dinner.
