Egg On Toast, Sandwiches, Prawn Mee & Rojak Mamak.

Here are some of the regular places that we go to for our meals. Sometimes, we will go out to town in search of something new, or go to some places that we have not been to lately. There are also days when we are just contended to eat at nearby places. We do have some very tasty food in our residential area but we can get bored if we go too frequently.

~ Breakfast ~
I am not a very fussy eater but I do love varieties. Sometimes, I prefer to eat something light like this breakfast consisting of 2 half boiled eggs on toasted bread with a hot coffee. I just found out that some called this "roti goyang" in Malay or is it "roti telur goyang"? It means wobbling egg on toast.
I usually have the eggs on toasts breakfast at Restoran Big Oriental, Persiaran Greenhill, Ipoh. We too enjoyed the steamed glutinous rice dumpling and the Georgetown wanton mee.

~ Brunch ~
There was one afternoon when we were in this part of town and we stopped at this place for a simple brunch. I looked at all the stalls and couldn't decide what to eat. I ended up ordering these chicken, egg and cheese sandwiches.
The sandwiches were from Kedai Kopi Sun Sun Cafe, Jalan Medan Ipoh 1E, Medan Ipoh Bistari, Ipoh.

~ Lunch ~
Once in a while, hubby and I enjoy this vegetable rojak from the Mamak stall in Taman Pertama. It is a sweet spicy vegetable salad consisting of cucumber, yam bean, beansprout, fried tofu, fried fritters with sweet spicy sauce.
Sometimes, we also look forward to a bowl of prawn noodle.
When we crave for both items and yet cannot decide which to order....
We then ordered one of each to share to satisfy our craving. A win win solution at Restoran Winner, Taman Pertama, Ipoh.

As for you, you were dead in your trangression and sins,
in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world
and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air,
the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient.
All of us also lived among them at one time,
gratifying the cravings of our flesh and
following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest,
we were by nature deserving of wrath.

Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner On A Friday.

On one Friday morning, after our walking exercise, hubby decided to eat somewhere nearby. We went to Kedai Kopi Sin Choi Yuen in Taman Pertama, which is within walking distance from the recreation park. This place is usually full in the morning.
Hubby's breakfast - fried noodle.
Ingredients: Flat rice noodle + yellow noodle, prawns, fish cake, beansprouts, chive, egg, served with chili sauce on a piece of cut banana leave.
My breakfast - a small plate of Hong Kong chee cheong fun.
Ingredients: Steamed rice flour rolls with bbq meat or prawns as filling, served with chili shrimp paste.

Lunch
I try not to eat lunch and if I did, I will try to take a very light one. But very often, it turns out the other way. On this particular Friday afternoon, I accompanied hubby to the nearby GP foodcourt for his lunch and I intended to take a few spoonfuls from his lunch.
Hubby ordered Thai style Chicken with basil rice. When this plate was brought to our table, I was very surprised but I kept quiet. I know hubby wouldn't take basil because of its strong smell. Hubby started to eat and immediately he pushed the whole plate to me. I burst out laughing! It seemed he didn't know the green leaves were basil when the stall owner recommended it to him. Hubby went to order something else and I ended up eating the chicken, basil and half of the rice because I didn't want to waste the food. No wonder it is so difficult to lose weight!

Dinner
For dinner, both of us were not very hungry. Hubby went to the night market "pasar malam" and brought back 2 pieces of BBQ chicken legs for our dinner.

The following photos are for joining Saturday's Critters.
These photos were taken at the Pet Fiesta held in Menglembu few months ago.
Though I am afraid of lizards, it did not prevent me from taking some snapshots of them. They do have some nice patterns on their skin.
This lizard has a spotted skin. I made sure I stood quite a distance away just in case it gets away...I zoomed in to snap this shot.
These two with different patterned skin were in a glass case.
These were also in glass case.
This one was enjoying his siesta.

There are four things that are small but unusually wise:
Ants: they aren't strong, but store up food for the winter.
Cliff badgers: delicate little animals who protect themselves
by living among the rocks.
The locusts: though they have no leader,
they stay together in swarms.
The lizards: they are easy to catch and kill,
yet are found even in king's palaces!

Yummy Lunch At Restoran Mandarin Kitchen, Ipoh.

Last Saturday, we had guests staying over with us for the weekend. We waited for them to reach so that we can have lunch together. They reached about 1.30 pm and after unloading their bags, we all hopped into their car for lunch in Restoran Mandarin Kitchen. There were 5 of us, all adults and we were led to a table right in front of the cashier counter. Our friends and their son had a wedding dinner to attend later in the evening, so we ordered only 3 disahes.
For the first dish, we ordered a green veggie, Stir fry baby kailan with pieces of yam and generous amount of crunchy toppings of cashew nuts and cuttlefish.
Pig's trotter stewed in special sweet sour sauce. This dish is very flavourful and it makes you want to go for 2nd helping of white rice!
Fried Scrambled Eggs with Prawns and Cheese. Fresh and bouncy big prawns.
Total cost of lunch inclusive of Rice, Chinese Tea & GST
MYR 70.40 (approx. 16.94 USD)
Our friend insisted on paying the bill, so it was a treat for us.

The Lord's pleasure is not in the strength of the horse,
nor his delight in the legs of the warrior;
the Lord delights in those who fear him,
who put their hope in his unfailing love.

#1 - Saw this fence in a little village in Gopeng.
#2 - Saw this bamboo fence in a kampung/village in Ipoh. Even the gate is made of bamboo.
The place looked deserted and the attap roofing over the entrance gate is falling apart. Attap roofing is made from leaves of the nipa palm. Most olden days houses were attached with attap roofings.

Self Seeded Velvety Purple Petunia.

I think it was beginning of this year, in the month of January that I received 4 pots of petunia plants from my friend. They were of different colours and I transferred them into hanging pots. Below the hanging pots were some other plants also growing in pots.
The plants grew and I enjoyed their beautiful flowers for about 5 months. Later they dried up and they were gone from my garden.
One day, I noticed 2 baby plants growing from the flower pot that was used for growing the petunia plants and which I have put aside.
As they grew bigger, only then I recognized the leaves as those of petunia plants.
And I also noticed some baby petunia plants growing from the pot which was below the place where I hung the petunia plants. They were all self-seeded and were growing well.
It was such a pleasant surprise to see the plants growing from the seeds that have fallen onto the soil in these pots. And all the plants were of this colour only, the velvety purple flowers.
I was once again blessed with these beautiful petunia flowers blooming in my garden. It was so unexpected to see the plants growing and blooming again in my garden.
A close up of the velvety purple petunia flower. Isn't it a beauty?
The sad thing is that these plants are easily attacked by the mealy bugs.
This round I only get to enjoy their blooms for about 3 months before they too dried up and died. I don't know whether they have left behind any seeds to grow again in my garden.

For as the soil makes the sprout come up
and a garden causes seeds to grow,
so the Sovereign LORD will make righteousness
and praise spring up before all nations.

Waiting At The Railway Station, Ipoh.

Last month, hubby made a day trip to the capital city, Kuala Lumpur to meet his boss. And I was to pick him up from the railway station once he reached Ipoh. He was due to reach Ipoh about 7 pm.
I was alone at home and I made it a washing day. I have to watch the sky in case it rained as I had lots of laundry drying outside.
I was early at the railway station to get a parking space. I parked the car and took a walk in front of the railway station.
I spotted some cute subjects for my camera. On closer look, the plants were dying and some had dried up.
A nice project was started but was not maintained.
2 white swans and 1 black swan made from old tyres.
A tree with artificial wings.

What was left were flower pots with dried up plants.

Then those who feared the LORD talked with each other,
and the LORD listened and heard.
A scroll of remembrance was written in his presence
concerning those who feared the LORD and honored his name.
