Dinner At Restoran J.J. Fatt, Lawan Kuda, Gopeng

This was 2 Saturdays ago. It was grey and gloomy. We were at a coffee shop waiting to be seated. While our hubbies waited, my friend and I decided to take a short walk through this gate that was opened.

This is a walkway to the Palo 101 where some eateries are located.
As we walked through the gate we saw banana trees on both sides of the gate. We saw this pretty flower that looks like a banana flower.
Banana flowers usually hang downwards but these flowers point upwards. The leaves looks like banana leaves.

Thank evening, we drove to Gopeng for dinner at Restoran J.J. Fatt, Lawan Kuda.
Deep fried pork belly slices with deep fried garlic. Very tasty.
We ordered 1 snakehead fish.
The bony parts of the fish for cooking soup with wine and Chinese herbs.
The meaty part of the fish for cooking with ginger slices and spring onion.
Baby tender Chinese kai lan with garlic and salted fish.
The restaurant grow their own vegetables.

The photos of the following murals were taken in Batu Gajah.
Drawn on brickwall.
Tin mining dredge.
Saw this on the side wall of a hotel,
The ruins of the unfinished castle, Batu Gajah.
It is a parking lot and I have to find a suitable angle to take this photo.
Clock tower in Batu Gajah town.

For whenever I am,
though far away at the ends of the earth,
I will cry to you for help.
When my heart is faint and overwhelmed,

2 Dinners At Weng Fatt Restaurant, Pasir Pinji, Ipoh

This post is about 2 dinners we had 2 days in a row at Weng Fatt Restaurant in Pasir Pinji.

On the 1st day:

The first day started at about 6:40am.
Sunrise
6:45am
6:50am
I stopped to take some snapshots of this strange looking plant that we passed by on our morning walk.
Google Lens identified this plant as Flueggea Virosa.
The plant contains alkaloids but has medicinal value. It has small white berries. The matured fruit will fall off from the bush. The fruit is edible and is juicy and sweet but with a slightly bitter taste.
6:10pm - It was a rainy evening.

Steamed Tilapia in lime sauce, very appetizing dish.
Deep fried tofu.
Fried chicken with pickled ginger cubes, another appetizing dish.
Total cost of dinner for 4 people = RM62.

On the 2nd day.
After morning walk, we went out to Ipoh town because I need to go to the bank and after that we had breakfast
I ordered the above continental breakfast consisting of spaghetti, chicken chop, 2 sausages and salad. Hubby ordered pork noodle (no photo to show).
I received the above gift from a friend.
A pack of Arabica Brown Rice Coffee with organic soy milk.
2 sachets inside the packet.
This is my first time tasting this coffee.
I quite like the taste.
Ingredients: Brown rice, non-GMO soy bean powder, Arabica coffee powder, and fructose.

On the 2nd day evening, we had dinner date with a friend. Since we enjoyed the dinner at Weng Fatt restaurant the previous evening, we don't mind going back to the same place as it is very near to this friend. When we ordered the food, it was still early and bright. But when the food came, it was getting dark and it was only then we found out the some parts of the restaurant had no power supply. We were sitting in a place where the fan was working but without lighting. I took these photo with flashlight mode.
Steamed Tilapia with savoury sauce.
Our friend found it a bit too spicy for her taste.
Since we enjoyed the fried chicken with pickled ginger, we ordered it again.
Plain stir fried Chinese kai lan with garlic.
This dinner for 3 people cost RM64.60.
Lighted candles were provided for some tables but since we were sitting under the fan, the candle light will be blown out. The power supply only returned when we were half way through our dinner.

And I know this, that whatever God does is final -
nothing can be added or taken from it;
God's purpose in this is that man should fear the all-powerful God.

Fried Chicken Wings, Fried Prawns, Steamed Egg With Minced Pork

As we were driving out to the coffee shop, I saw this .....

The sun rising from behind the moutain at 7:48am.
Hubby had to slow down for me and this is the best shot I got.
~~~~~
Breakfast
I ordered wonton noodle with bbq pork and minced meat dumplings.
I also ordered coffee which I shared with hubby.
Hubby ordered shredded chicken noodle (kai si hor fun). The boss was in good mood and he topped the noodle witth some dried scallop. Hubby ordered a glass of Chinese tea which we shared.
~~~~~
Lunch for 3 people: Just me and my 2 sons.
Hubby had a small lunch gathering with his old coursemates in Bercham.
Deep fried pre-marinated chicken wings.
Sauteed Chinese kai lan with garlic and salt.
Just 2 dishes plus some leftover which we need to clear from the fridge.
~~~~~
Afternoon snack.
Steamed glutinous rice cake with grated coconut.
Elder son haven't eaten this for a long time so I went out to buy some grated coconut from the Buntong wet market which is a short drive from my house.
I added a pinch of salt to the grated coconut.
Scooped out the steamed sticky glutinous rice into small balls and rolled with grated coconut.
~~~~~
Dinner for 4 people.
Deep fried prawns coated with oyster and soy sauce.
Ingredient for sauce: oyster and soy sauce, sugar and salt to taste, and cooking wine.
Salted egg yolk beans and carrot strips.
This is my first try and I will need to try again.
It didn't turn out as expected but the taste was quite good.
Steamed eggs with minced pork, drizzled with garlic oil.
I haven't prepared this dish for a long, long time.
Three dishes plus some leftover chicken wings from lunch.
~~~~~
Doggie photos for Saturday's Critters.
Saw this dog taking a walk in front of my house.
He met up with another dog coming from the opposite direction.
I don't know what they said to each other in their doggie language.
There was no barking or baring of teeth at each other.
Then they parted and went their own ways.
A person may think their own ways are right,
but the LORD weighs the heart.
To do what is right and just is more
acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice.
Reunion Dinner Chinese New Year 2022
Yesterday (Sunday) was eve of Chinese New Year 2022. To avoid the crowd, hubby and I decided to go out early for breakfast. We were among the early birds at the coffee shop.
Herbal tea for me and Chinese tea for hubby.
The price of drink at this particular coffee shop has increased 10 cents. Not sure if it is only for the CNY season or will be permanent.
We ordered a bowl of pork noodle to share.
4 pieces of fried ingredients.
Sunrise at 8:00am.
~~~~~
Elder son brought back 2 fishes that he caught on his off shore fishing trip. I used one to steam for the reunion dinner.
Blended ginger steamed fish.
Blanched baby kai lan, drizzled with garlic oil, oyster and soy sauce.
Hubby ordered 1 roast duck for RM63. Half for reunion dinner and half for the next day's meal.
2 types of dipping sauce for the roast duck.
We bought yee sang from one of the restaurants in Falim at RM63.
The portion shrank in size but the price increased.
Only 2 sizes available. Medium size RM63, Big size RM83.
This was our family's reunion dinner for the Tiger Year 2022.
Update on my banana babies growing in a pot.
There are 2 smaller ones, one on each side of this bigger one.
An antique hot water boiler used in a coffee shop. The lower compartment is for holding the coffee cups submerged in hot water.

Be gentle and ready to forgive; never hold grudges.
Remember, the Lord forgave you,
so you must forgive others.
