Wan Tan Noodle & One Dish Home Cooked Dinner

Last Friday we went out to buy prawns.  There is a stall that will only open on Friday morning.

That Friday, this roadside stall was crowded with customers waiting to buy fish and prawns for the Chinese New Year celebration.
Fish and prawns selling like hot cakes.
I didn't want to wait around. I quickly bought 2 kilos of prawns at RM60 per kilo. A friend wanted 1 kilo and 1 kilo for myself.
After cleaning, I was too tired to cook dinner so we went to Buntong village for wan tan noodle.
That evening I only want a bowl of minced meat dumplings (wan ton) because I was not very hungry.
I have seen mother-in-law plants flower but so far the ones in my garden have yet to flower.
~~~~~
I have harvested some bok choy from my hubby's vertical garden.
I had a small taro in my fridge. I cooked the taro with garlic and dried shrimp and added the bok choy to the taro. This is the 1 dish dinner with steamed brown rice on a lazy evening.
Saw this cat outside a shop. Just look at how it sat.
I saw this cat outside a restaurant and it look sleepy.
My son, obey your father's commands,
and don't neglect your mother's instruction.
Keep their words always in your heart.
Tie them around your neck.
When you walk, their counsel will lead you.
When you sleep, they will protect you.
When you wake up, they will advise you.
Lunch At Public House Food Court, Taman Ipoh Timur
Rain or shine, we must have our breakfast. On this particular morning, we want to return to Double Three Cafe in Menglembu new township for our breakfast.
I ordered claypot noodle (yee mee). Yee mee is pre-fried noodle.
Ingredients: Yee mee, napa cabbage, minced meat balls, fish paste, fish cake and 1 egg.
Hubby ordered wanton mee with stewed pork leg.
The wanton mee with beansprouts, minced meat and sauce. It was served with a plate of pickled green chili.
Stewed pork leg with dried chili.
Freshly fried Chinese doughnut (ma keok and hum chim peng). Customers will be waiting at the stalls for these fast selling fried Chinese crullers and doughnuts.
A friend recommended Public House Food Court to us. It is at Jalan Medan Ipoh 2, Taman Ipoh Timur.
Hubby ordered flat rice noodle with egg gravy (wat tan hor).
I ordered stewed pork rib with peanuts. It came with 2 pieces of tofu and 1 hard boiled egg.
And a plate of white rice with a few pieces of sliced cucumber.
We don't know if we will return because this place is quite far from our house.
An old fashioned house front with pre-war designs in Penang.
there is safety in many counselors.
Dinner At Restoran Xi Lai Kitchen, Menglembu
Again we have to cancel our morning walk because it was drizzling. Even though we were early, reaching Ipoh old town at about 7:20am, the coffee shop that hubby wanted to go for the curry noodle was fully packed with customers. So, we decided to go to Kedai Kopi Sin Yoon Loong. I can't remember when it was the last time we were here, must have been many years.
We ordered 2 unsweetened coffee (kopi-c kosong).
2 plates of bbq pork wan ton noodle (char siew wanton mee).
Minced pork dumplings (wan tan).
My cranberry hibiscus plants are growing tall and blooming again.
That evening, we had dine-out dinner with friends. We went to a place in Menglembu new township which we have not been before.
We ordered pork belly with salted fish in claypot.
Crispy fried salted herbal chicken - half a chicken.
Fried brinjal with salted egg yolk.
We enjoyed the dinner very much and this place is worth revisiting.
Menu on the wall.
Comfortable place, not very crowded.
What is Kitty Kola? Kitty Kola was a cola flavoured soft drink. It came from England and was introduced in Sweden in 1953.
The Lord's wisdom founded the earth;
his understanding established all the universe and space.
The deep fountains of the earth were broken open by his knowledge,
and the skies poured down rain.
Bubur Cha Cha & Pork Rib Wan Ton Noodle
Our morning walk was cancelled because the sky was dark and looked like it was going to rain anytime.
Sunrise at 7:25am.
Dark cloud looming over us at 7:50am.
7:55am.
~~~~~
Breakfast at Restoran Memorable Good Taste.
This is where we will go whenever we want to enjoy a good wan tan noodle.
We both ordered bubur cha cha.
I really enjoyed this bowl of bubur cha cha.
It has sweet potato, yam, beans, sago, coconut milk and sugar.
These were brought to the table first: pickled green chilies, stewed sweet sour pork rib, sui kao+wan tan dumplings.
Homemade thin wan tan noodle.
On this particular morning, they use lettuce instead of choy sum.
This was our breakfast for 2 people.
Peace lilies from my garden.
An antique jukebox at a cafe.
It was lighted up so I assume that it is in good condition and can still play music.

Oh, for the years gone by when God took care of me,
when he lighted the way before me
and I walked safely through the darknes;

Lunch At Wong's Kopitiam, Ipoh

This was a Thursday.

Sunrise at 6:55am.
Starting out on our morning walk - 6:55am.
Morning sky at 7:05am.
7:10am
7:15am.
~~~~~
Someone recommended a new kopitiam to us, so hubby and I went to Wong's Kopitiam for lunch. We saw 4 men waiting outside and one of them told us that we will have to wait to be seated. 2 men didn't want to wait and they left. Since we were already there, we might as well wait. We needn't have to wait long, probably about 10 minutes.
Menu for rice or noodles.
Drinks and "tong sui".
I was looking forward to enjoy "bubur cha cha" but was told that it was not available that day. So disappointed.
We didn't order any of the above dessert because there were only 2 of us. While waiting for the food to be served, I took some snapshots from where I was seated.
Side wall.
Back wall. I was seated facing the back.
Behind me.
Floral enamel mug for holding cultery.
Since bubur cha cha was not available, I ordered sweet potato tong sui (sweet potato boiled in water with ginger and sugar added) - RM4.90
Hubby ordered iced lemon tea - RM4.90
Hubby ordered nasi lemak with fried chicken - RM12.90
Hubby enjoyed the nasi lemak and the fried chicken is nice too, not dry.
I didn't want rice, so I ordered fried beehoon with chicken curry - RM12.90
The fried beehoon looks plain but it was nice eaten with the sambal.
Thick and "lemak" chicken curry.
Total lunch = RM37.70
Wong's Kopitiam (opens from 9am to 5pm).
~~~~~
That evening, we had a late dinner at Cheong Kee Wan Tan Mee in Buntong.
We ordered 2 plates of wan tan noodle (dry version).
Dry version is served with some pork strips.
When eating wan tan mee, the pickled green chili is a must have item.
Wan tan (minced pork dumplings) in clear soup (this is plus size).
The dumplings have been reduced to almost half of its former size.

Linking to Skywatch Friday.

Oh, do not hold us guilty for our former sins!
Let your tenderhearted mercies meet our needs,
for we are brought low to the dust.
Help us, God of our salvation!
Help us for the honor of your name.
Oh, save us and forgive our sins.
