Steamed Minced Pork With Preserved Vegetable & Home Grown Pineapple

This was the last Tuesday of March. We woke up to a cool morning.

Sunrise at 7:08am.
Starting out on our morning walk.
A friend gave me jar of preserved vegetable and I almost forgot about it.
I used some of the preserved vegetable to steamed with minced pork for our dinner.
I had some leftover curry gravy in the fridge. I added in home grown okras, pineapple and bean curd knots into the curry to make up 1 dish.
Our 2 dish dinner: Curry and steamed minced pork with preserved vegetable.
~~~~~
I think it was end of December or beginning of January this year that I posted about my pineapple in my garden.
This photo was taken end of December, 2021.
This was 7 days after the previous photo.
This was about 2.5 months after the previous photo.
And I finally get to harvest the pineapple end of March.
It took about 3 months for this pineapple to ripen on the plant.
Just enough for hubby and I.
It was worth the wait because it was sweet and juicy.
Wall mural: Kids enjoying jump robe games.
This photo was taken end of year 2014.
I hope the mural is still there but could be quite faded by now.
Linking to Monday Mural.
For you have a new life.
It was not passed on to you from your parents,
for the life they gave you will fade away.
This new one will last forever, for it comes from Christ,
God's ever-living Message to men.
Fried Chicken Wings, Fried Prawns, Steamed Egg With Minced Pork
As we were driving out to the coffee shop, I saw this .....
The sun rising from behind the moutain at 7:48am.
Hubby had to slow down for me and this is the best shot I got.
~~~~~
Breakfast
I ordered wonton noodle with bbq pork and minced meat dumplings.
I also ordered coffee which I shared with hubby.
Hubby ordered shredded chicken noodle (kai si hor fun). The boss was in good mood and he topped the noodle witth some dried scallop. Hubby ordered a glass of Chinese tea which we shared.
~~~~~
Lunch for 3 people: Just me and my 2 sons.
Hubby had a small lunch gathering with his old coursemates in Bercham.
Deep fried pre-marinated chicken wings.
Sauteed Chinese kai lan with garlic and salt.
Just 2 dishes plus some leftover which we need to clear from the fridge.
~~~~~
Afternoon snack.
Steamed glutinous rice cake with grated coconut.
Elder son haven't eaten this for a long time so I went out to buy some grated coconut from the Buntong wet market which is a short drive from my house.
I added a pinch of salt to the grated coconut.
Scooped out the steamed sticky glutinous rice into small balls and rolled with grated coconut.
~~~~~
Dinner for 4 people.
Deep fried prawns coated with oyster and soy sauce.
Ingredient for sauce: oyster and soy sauce, sugar and salt to taste, and cooking wine.
Salted egg yolk beans and carrot strips.
This is my first try and I will need to try again.
It didn't turn out as expected but the taste was quite good.
Steamed eggs with minced pork, drizzled with garlic oil.
I haven't prepared this dish for a long, long time.
Three dishes plus some leftover chicken wings from lunch.
~~~~~
Doggie photos for Saturday's Critters.
Saw this dog taking a walk in front of my house.
He met up with another dog coming from the opposite direction.
I don't know what they said to each other in their doggie language.
There was no barking or baring of teeth at each other.
Then they parted and went their own ways.

A person may think their own ways are right,
but the LORD weighs the heart.
To do what is right and just is more
acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice.

Steamed Minced Meat With Pickled Mustard Green

Our day started with a lovely morning.

Morning sky at 7:12am
My yellow hibiscus wishes you "Good morning".
The early birds say "Thank you" for this fig.
Hubby was supposed to buy the above item to stock up for porridge.
But he came back with this pickled mustard green instead.
He didn't buy 1 but he bought 2.
So instead of eating it with porridge, I sliced the mustard green and mixed it with minced pork and some chili padi. Then I steamed it to eat with steamed rice.
Sauteed napa cabbage with carrot, garlic and salt.
I have been passing by this way but somehow never really noticed this phone booth. One morning we walked by this way to go to our regular coffee shop. Only then did I noticed that one of them has a public phone still intact which has not been destroyed. So far, this is the 2nd public phone I saw and shared in my posts.

"Why are you angry?" the Lord asked him.
"Why is your face so dark with rage?
It can be bright with joy if you will do what you should!
But if you refuse to obey, watch out.
Sin is waiting to attack you, longing to destroy you.
But you can conquer it!"

Lockdown To Me Is Stay Home, Stay Safe & Grow Fat

I have decided not to step on the weighing scale because I know I wouldn't like to see what it will show me. I haven't been out for morning walk for more than a week and am too lazy to do indoor exercises. The only exercise I did is eating and more eating. I don't know about others but it looks like lockdown for me means stay home, stay safe and grow fat!

Breakfast bought from roadside stall.

Nasi lemak with fried egg (RM3) for hubby.
Economy fried rice vermicelli with sambal (RM2) for me.
~~~~~
Lunch
Hubby bought the above for his lunch, the sauce packed separately.
Looks yummy with the sauce.
I had some over ripe bananas so I used them to make banana pancakes for my lunch.
For dessert, we had Jackfruits.
~~~~~
Dinner
Sambal stinky beans with minced pork for hubby (his favourite).
Sambal anchovies (ikan bilis) for me.
We each had our own favourite dish.
Best eaten with steamed rice.
I took only a few spoonfuls of rice because I wanted to finish the bread later.
After an early dinner, I finished the last 2 pieces of bread with sambal anchovies for supper.

He personally carried the load of our sins in his own body
when he died on the cross so that we can be finished with sin
and live a good life from now on. For his wounds have healed ours!

Eating Raw Okra With Sambal Anchovies (Ikan Bilis)

I haven't been out for morning walk for more than a week. We have to wait for the EMCO to end on 4th June. By the 5th morning, we can safely resume our morning walk according to the latest nationwide MCO sop. Until then, I will enjoy the sunrises from the front of my house.

Sunrise at 7:15am
~~~~~
Breakfast
Hubby went out on his motorcycle to buy breakfast.
Wat Tan Hor (Noodle with thick egg gravy).
Flat rice noodle (koay teow) stir fried with oil, dark and light soy sauce was placed separately from the thick egg gravy.
Wat Tan Hor with the thick egg gravy poured over the stir fried noodle.
Hubby's breakfast after I have taxed a few mouthfuls.
Hubby's breakfast and 2-in-1 black coffee for us.
I had peanut butter on toast for breakfast.
This cockscomb flower was too heavy for the plant. The small plant was leaning to one side due to the weight of the flower.
~~~~~
Lunch
I didn't snap photo of hubby's lunch so I can't remember what he ate but the following photos show what I ate.
There was bread, sambal anchovies and freshly picked okras from my garden. Fresh raw okras are crunchy and nice to eat.
So I decided that I want to try making sandwich with sambal anchovies and raw okra.
This was how I ate it.
Then I decided to try okra with sambal anchovies without the bread and found that it is nicer this way.
~~~~~
Home cooked dinner.
Steamed a small sized grouper fish with chopped ginger and garlic. Once cooked, I poured a mixture of Chinese cooking wine, oyster and soy sauce over the fish before serving.
Steamed minced pork with preserved vegetable (tong choy).
Sambal dried prawn with home grown sweet potato leaves.
I almost burnt this dish because I was distracted by phone call.
It was edible but overcooked.
Thank God for His provision that we can enjoy this simple home cooked dinner.
There before me lies the mighty ocean,
teeming with life of every kind, both great and small.
And look! See the ships!
And over there, the whale you made to play in the sea.
Every one of these depends on you to give them daily food.
You supply it, and they gather it.
You open wide your hand to feed them,
and they are satisfied with all your bountiful provision.
