Lotus Root Soup For Dinner

 We woke up early but waited for it to be brighter before we go out for our morning walk.

#1
Sunrise at 7:10am.
#2
#3
#4 - 7:20am.
~~~~~
Initially, we wanted to have seafood porridge for lunch but it was closed. So my friend and I ended up having noodles for lunch at Tastefully Noodle House, Menglembu.
Shredded chicken noodle @ RM6.50 for my friend.
Pork noodle @ RM8.50 (without innards) for myself.
We both ordered monk fruit drink (loh hon koh).
Total cost of lunch was RM19.70.
My cranberry hibiscus has been infested with some kind of pest. I have trimmed off all the branches leaving behind about a foot of the plant. I hope it will grow back, if not, then it will be goodbye.
~~~~~
It was raining the whole afternoon and evening yesterday.
I cooked lotus root soup with carrot, red dates, goji berries and chicken breast meat for dinner. I cooked just enough for 2 bowls of soup so that we won't have to drink leftover soup the next day. Just this soup and some steamed brown rice for the 2 of us.

It is better to eat soup with someone you love
than steak with someone you hate.

Pork Porridge & Pork + Seaweed Noodle For Dinner

On this particular day, we sent a friend home and we got out to visit her garden.

She has a coffee tree growing in her garden. First time I see coffee fruits on the coffee tree. I came back with 2 plants and quickly planted them into pots in my garden.
1st plant is Tillandsia lindenii - the flower looks like a spade.
At the tip of the spade is a bluish or purple flower.
2nd plant I think is a Guzmania but I haven't seen the flower yet.
~~~~~
Dinner at the hawker centre.
Hubby ordered pork porridge.
I ordered pork + seaweed with rice vermicelli.
An old fashioned safe, a luggage bag or chest and hats placed on top of the safe.
When I look up into the night skies and
see the work of your fingers - the moon and the stars
you have made - I cannot understand how you can bother
with mere puny man, to pay any attention to him!
And yet you have made him only a little lower than the angels
and place a crown of glory and honor upon his head.
Dinner At Restoran Sipu Claypot Chicken Rice, Bercham
This was a Friday. We had to go to Ipoh town and ended up having lunch at the old Kopitiam Sum Ho Lok at Persiaran Greenhill.
My colleagues and I will regularly patronize this stall when we were working. The stall closes at about 1pm and we were there at about 12:30pm.
~~~~~
For dinner, we went to try out the claypot chicken rice in Bercham which a friend recommended.
Restoran Sipu Claypot Chicken Rice.
There were 4 of us and we ordered the following items.
Claypot noodle (yee mee) - small pot @ RM8.
Fish balls - 6 pieces for RM10.
Stewed chicken feet - RM9.
Claypot chicken rice - Big @ RM17.
Drinks - RM3.70
Total cost of dinner - RM47.70
Opposite the restaurant, by the roadside is a papaya tree with many small papayas.
Managed to take a snapshot of this evening sky from a moving car on our way home.
What do you think the cloud formation looks like?
I saw this mural in Heritage Town Cafe in Gopeng.

Linking to Monday Mural.

Come before him with thankful hearts.
Let us sing him psalms and praise.
For the Lord is a great God, the great King of all gods.
He controls the formation of the depths of the earth and
the mightiest mountains; all are his.

Pork Noodles On The Last Day Of 2022.

This was Saturday, the last day of year 2022.

Sunrise at about 7am.
We cancelled our morning walk because we had breakfast appointment with friends.
I ordered pork noodle while the rest ordered fried noodles.
Pork noodle: flat rice noodle (koay teow) + meat balls + minced meat balls + meat slices + napa cabbage. Even though I am almost fully recovered from my gastic/wind problem, I am still staying away from spicy and sourish food.
~~~~~
Updates on hubby's vertical gardening projects.
Pok choy or siew pak choy growing in vertical PVC pipes in front of the house.
Pok choy or siew pak choy in plastic containers or recyclable plastic bottles at the side garden.
There was no rain for the past week and the weather is dryer and warmer.
~~~~~
Simple home cooked dinner.
Minced meat balls + goji berries + egg soup.
For hubby, I cooked shabu-shabu noodle for him.
I bought this shabu-shabu pre-fried noodle from the pork shop. The noodle is fine and easy to cook and eat.
As for me, I love mee sua so I cooked mee sua for myself.
Sitiawan mee sua given by hubby's friend.
Blanched broccoli and home grown green brinjals or aubergine, drizzled with garlic oil and oyster + soy sauce.

Wishing everyone the best for the New Year 2023.

I will look on you with favor and make you fruitful
and increase your numbers, and I will keep my covenant with you.
You will still be eating last year's harvest
when you will have to move it out to make room for the new.
I will put my dwelling place among you, and I will not abhor you.
I will walk among you and be your God, and you will be my people.

Fish Noodle, Pork Noodle & Roasted Duck Rice

After about 4 days without rain, I get to get some sunrise clicks yesterday morning.

7:10am - starting out on our morning walk.
7:16am.
For yesterday's breakfast, I ordered grouper fish meat with rice vermicelli. Normally, this fish noodle will come with salted sour vegetable which I enjoy very much. Since I am not suppose to take sour food, I asked to omit the salted sour vegetable.The fish is fresh and the soup is sweet.
Looking east, this was yesterday's evening sky at 7:30pm.
Looking west, this is the sky at 7:30pm.
~~~~~
Today's breakfast after morning walk.
I ordered pork noodle and I requested for wheat flour (mee sua).
~~~~~
I am feeling much, much better today and I have the energy and mood to do some tidying of the outside garden.
This is my one and only bougainvillea plant and it does need some trimming. This is an old photo and it has grown into a bush. Initially, I thought of just giving a trim to make it a bit like a mushroom top. But after I started to trim, I found that underneath the leaves were a lot of dead and rotten twigs. So I started to remove and clear all the dead twig and the end result is a bald top for my bougainvillea plant. Lol!
The trunk has shown sign of rot due to the rainy season and hopefully by removing all the leaves and branches, the sun will put a stop to the rot. Bougainvillea is a sturdy plant and I hope new branches will appear soon.
After all the hard work, we went to Restoran Tuck Kee to buy roasted duck rice for lunch. I asked for breast meat rice @ RM7. I wanted to order for Chinese New Year and was told that the new price list for 2023 will only be out in January.

Turn from all known sin and spend your time in doing good.
Try to live in peace with everyone; work hard at it.

Noodles For Breakfast And Claypot Chicken Rice For Dinner

We went out for morning walk as usual.

Morning sky at 7:45am.
Returned home, swept the porch area and watered the plants. Then we drove out to pick up our friends for breakfast at Bercham Great Wall Kopitiam.
Our friend's latte and toast (not in the picture).
The rest of us ordered Chinese tea and warm water.
Curry noodle for me.
Pork noodle with salted vegetable and tofu for a friend.
Hong Kong chee cheong fun with bbq pork filling for hubby.
Purple wishbone flowers from my garden.
For dinner, hubby and I went to WK Claypot House at 101, Lengkok Rishah 3, Taman Silibin Ria, Ipoh.
Claypot chicken rice with Chinese sausage and salted fish.
So far, this is the best claypot chicken rice we have tasted.
Appetizing sweet, sour and spicy mustard green.
For greater omph, I like to eat the claypot chicken rice with this green bird's eye chilies in soy sauce.
Red sugar cane drink.
I took this snapshot while waiting for the traffic light to turn green.
What attracted me is the design above the top floor windows.
This old building has been given a new coat of paint.
This lot is now occupied by a boutique.

As for me, God forbid that I should boast about anything
except the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Because of that cross, my interest in all the attractive things
of the world was killed long ago,
and the world's interest in me is also long dead.
