Lotus Root Soup For Dinner

 We woke up early but waited for it to be brighter before we go out for our morning walk.

#1
Sunrise at 7:10am.
#2
#3
#4 - 7:20am.
~~~~~
Initially, we wanted to have seafood porridge for lunch but it was closed. So my friend and I ended up having noodles for lunch at Tastefully Noodle House, Menglembu.
Shredded chicken noodle @ RM6.50 for my friend.
Pork noodle @ RM8.50 (without innards) for myself.
We both ordered monk fruit drink (loh hon koh).
Total cost of lunch was RM19.70.
My cranberry hibiscus has been infested with some kind of pest. I have trimmed off all the branches leaving behind about a foot of the plant. I hope it will grow back, if not, then it will be goodbye.
~~~~~
It was raining the whole afternoon and evening yesterday.
I cooked lotus root soup with carrot, red dates, goji berries and chicken breast meat for dinner. I cooked just enough for 2 bowls of soup so that we won't have to drink leftover soup the next day. Just this soup and some steamed brown rice for the 2 of us.

It is better to eat soup with someone you love
than steak with someone you hate.

Pork Rib Sui Kao Wonton Noodle, Curry Puffs & Lotus Root Soup

We didn't go for morning walk because it rained early this morning. It was forecasted that there was rain but it didn't. Hopefully the dry spell is over and the rain will be back so that I can start to grow some new edibles in my garden.

This was last Thursday morning at 7:20am taken during our morning walk.
7:28am
This was one of the hot days.
~~~~~
Hubby wanted to eat our favourite wonton noodle in town.
There were only 3 customers ahead of us. It was only about 8:20am but we were told that wonton dumplings were sold out.
So we ordered wonton noodle with sweet sour pork rib and sui kao.
This wonton noodle is special because it is thinner than others.
This soup is extra flavourful. We don't get thirsty drinking this soup so it could not be due to msg added.
The lady boss is very generous with the pickled green chili.
Somehow I will finish all.
Hubby stopped on the way to buy RM10 worth of roast pork.
I kept the roast pork in the fridge for dinner.
Deep pink Balsam plants in my front garden.
Balsam plants do not last long but they are self-propagating.
I bought a small pack of large size cookies (hup toh soh in Cantonese).
Very nice and crumbly. I can only eat half of it at one time.
Chinese rojak for lunch.
I finally get down to making curry puff with the ready made puff pastry skin that was sitting in the freezer. For the filling, I used chicken breast meat, potatoes, onions and curry powder. These were kept in the fridge. Whenever I want some for breakfast, lunch or snack, I will reheat whatever I need in the oven.
Home cooked dinner for 2 people.
Blanched baby pak choy, drizzled with garlic oil, oyster and soy sauce.
Lotus root, carrot, red dates, goji berries, a small dried cuttlefish and chicken bones. The soup is full of natural sweetness. I do not used msg because it causes headache and makes me thirsty. I shared the soup with our neighbour as they have gone back to work full time.
Old fashioned fire wood stove at the Antong Coffee Mill in Taiping.
How long, LORD, will the wicked, how long will the wicked be jubilant?
They crush your people, LORD; they oppress your inheritance.
They slay the widow and the foreigner; they murder the fatherless.
Take notice, you senseless ones among the people;
you fools, when will you become wise?
Does he who fashioned the ear not hear?
Does he who formed the eye not see?
Does he who disciplines nations not punish?
Does he who teaches mankind lack knowledge?
The LORD knows all human plans; he knows that they are futile.
Steamed Blended Ginger Chicken & Stewed Plum Sauce Fish Head
2 Days In 1 Post
8th June: While waiting for 7am to start our morning walk, I swept the porch area.
Sunrise at 6:55am.
Returning from morning walk at 7:50am.
Hubby bought fish noodle with wine and some fried goodies.
1 portion of noodle for 2 people to share.
Simple lunch.
1 curry puff was eaten before snapshot.
Boiled pre-soaked chickpea with screwpine leaves (pandan leaves), ginger slices and salt.
Dinner
Dinner for 2 people.
Steamed chicken with blended ginger.
Gave some to neighbour.
Lotus root and peanut soup from neighbour.
Steamed home grown green eggplant (brinjal), okra, and snake beans. Drizzled with garlic oil, oyster and soy sauce. Gave some to neighbour.
Leftover steamed blended ginger chicken, kept for tomorrow breakfast.
~~~~~
9th June - out on our morning walk.
Almost deserted road.
A busy road with heavy traffic before lockdown.
Very few walkers and very few cars on the road.
For breakfast, we had noodles, blanched baby Chinese kai lan with the leftover blended ginger chicken from previous dinner.
Growing chilies in my garden.
Grown from store bought chili seeds.
I have to harvest them before they ripen.
They tend to rot easily when ripen.
Will be kept in the fridge until they are needed.
~~~~~
Dinner
Neighbour bought us stewed sour plum fish head plus a slice of fish.
Fish head for me and slice of fish for hubby. Very flavourful and delicious.
Blanched baby Chinese kai lan, drizzled with garlic oil, oyster and soy sauce.
Yummy dinner with plain rice porridge on a warm evening.
In the heavens God has pitched a tent for the sun.
It is like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber,
like a champion rejoicing to run his course.
It rises at one end of the heavens
and makes its circuit to the other;
nothing is deprived of its warmth.
Steamed Buns, Rojak, Yellow Cucumber & Lotus Root Soup
Sunday 6th June - got up early but still have to wait till 7am before we can go out for our morning walk.
Nice pink sky.
7:10am
Sun rising from behind the mountains at 7:20am.
~~~~~
Upon reaching home from morning walk, I took out the 4 buns (neighbour gave) from the fridge to steam and made coffee at the same time.
There were 2 types of steamed buns.
2 bbq pork buns.
2 lam yee pork buns.
Both types were very tasty.
Snapshot of white bougainvillea plant by the roadside.
Close up of the flowers.

Hallelujah! Thank you, Lord!
How good you are! Your love for us continues on forever.
Who can ever list the glorious miracles of God?
Who can ever praise him half enough?
