Prawns & Onions With Oyster & Soy Sauce For Dinner

On this particular morning, we had this lovely sunrise.

Sunrise at 7:25am.
View of Kledang Hill on the reverse side at 7:25am.
After morning walk, we drove to Restaurant Meng Meng Kee at Laluan Perusahaan Menglembu 1 for breakfast.
Hubby ordered char siew wan tan mee with pork wan tan (dumplings). We ordered 2 cups of teh si kosong (unsweetened tea with evaporated milk) and toast with butter and kaya.
Hor hee glass noodle for me.
Pink rain lilies blooming between 2 flower pots in front of my house.
~~~~~
Home cooked dinner.
Blanched home grown green amaranth from my front veggie plot.
Shelled prawns cooked with garlic, ginger, onion, oyster and soy sauce.
Cooked 2 packets of instant noodle with spicy seasoning.
Home cooked no rice dinner for 2.
when we die and leave these bodies -
we will have wonderful new bodies in heaven,
homes that will be ours forevermore,
Cod Fish Fingers & Home Grown Vegetable For Lunch
It was a cool and breezy morning.
Setting out on our morning walk at 7:05am.
Sunrise at 7:15am.
Hill view at 7:16am.
We wanted to have breakfast in Menglembu but found the shop closed. Since we were there, we might as well choose to eat in one of the nearby coffee shop.
There are about 7 food stalls but I couldn't decide what to order. In the end I ended up with a packet of nasi lemak which was quite tasty.
Hubby ordered a bowl of curry noodle. The red oil looks spicy but the taste was good.
~~~~~
Simple home cooked lunch.
I harvested some home grown "nai pak choy". Due to the rainy season, small snails have appeared and were feeding on the leaves.
Plain blanched "nai pak choy".
I cooked 1 packet of instant noodle, dry tossed with the given seasoning.
Fried a packet of frozen cod fish fingers (Pacific West brand).
Kewpie roasted sesame dressing as dipping for the cod fish fingers and vegetable.
Lunch for 2 people.
Driving out to pick up our friends for dinner at about 6:40pm.
We were going to try the Hokkien mee or fat noodle (tai lok meen in Cantonese) which we haven't eaten for a long, long time. Hope it will not disappoint us.

As the Scriptures express it,
"See, I am sending Christ to be the carefully chosen,
precious Cornerstone of my church,
and I will never disappoint those who trust in him."

Home Grown Ginger & Lobak With Instant Noodle

This was the 9th day of Chinese New Year. Our sons have gone back to work.

Morning sky at 7:40am.
That morning, I harvested ginger from one of the 2 pots. I also harvested 2 green brinjals (eggplants) and 1 long ladies finger (okra).
All these ginger were from 1 single pot.
I washed the ginger, wrapped with kitchen paper tissue, place in a plastic bag and kept in the fridge until I want to use them for cooking.
~~~~~
For dinner, I took out the frozen ngoh hiang (lobak) to thaw before I reheated them in the oven.
I cooked plain instant noodle for 2 people.
I also added blanched napa cabbage and some long beans (from my garden). I seasoned the plain instant noodle with garlic oil, oyster and soy sauce.
Ngoh hiang, napa cabbage and instant noodle for our dinner.
That morning we went out to the bank in Ipoh old town. This is the Overseas Chinese Banking Corporation's (OCBC) main branch.
The Straits Trading Building has been listed as one of the Heritage buildings in Ipoh.
 Information concerning the Straits Trading Building is carved on the above marble plaque.
OCBC's main branch occupies the Straits Trading Building.
Butter Coffee + Toast, Fried Rice + Salted Egg Yolk Vegetables
This was in the last week of January. The sky was gloomy due to the rainy season.
7:14am, before we started on our morning walk.
After morning walk, we drove to Restoran Meng Meng Kee, Menglembu for breakfast.
We ordered unsweetened coffee (kopi-o kosong) and Chinese tea.
Ordered toast. Requested for butter and kaya to be served separately.
The reason: We wanted to use some of the butter to add to the coffee. Just a little bit, won't taste good if too much butter is added.
Hubby ordered hor hee with mung bean noodle.
I ordered 4 pieces of stuffed items without noodle.
~~~~~
For lunch, we went to Restoran Wong Sheng because we happened to be in the same vicinity.
We ordered fried rice (small portion) to share.
And salted egg yolk assorted vegetable to go with the fried rice.
~~~~~
Since we had a late lunch, we had a simple late dinner.
I cooked some instant noodle and mixed it with the chili oil which my friend gave me. Plain but yummy.
The person who has been born into God's family does not make
a practice of sinning because now God's life is in him;
so he can't keep on sinning, for this new life has been
born into him and controls him - he has been born again.
Spicy Instant Noodle & Arrowhead Chips
This was on a Friday, a week before Chinese New Year. Hubby had "old coursemates" gathering and a friend came to pick him up early for breakfast.
It so happened that this packet of instant noodle is near expiring date so I cooked it for my breakfast that morning.
I didn't use the seasoning provided. I added a fried egg, blanched some napa cabbage and a few teaspoons of chili oil to the plain noodle. After breakfast, I started on my pre-Chinese New Year project - frying of arrowhead chips or ngaku chips.
This year I only bought about 2 kg plus, just enough for family's consumption. I started by peeling the arrowheads leaving the shoots intact. The shoots are for holding the arrowheads during slicing, using a mandoline slicer.
Since I am on my own, I sliced the arrowheads a few at a time. When the oil is ready, I take a stack of the sliced arrowheads and drop them into the oil slice by slice.
Arrowhead slices frying in the oil in a wok.
Fried arrowhead chips, nice and crispy.
Arrowhead chips or Ngaku chips is our all time favourite snack. We only get to enjoy this addictive snack once a year.
I managed to take a snapshot of this mural at a traffic light junction just before the light turned green.
Don't be conceited, sure of your own wisdom.
Instead, trust and reverence the Lord, and turn your back on evil;
when you to that, then you will be given renewed health and vitality.
Dry Curry Noodle, Stewed Chicken Feet & Blanched Broccoli
Our day started with a gloomy sky.
Morning walk started at about 6:58am.
View of Kledang Hill at 7:16am.
Dry curry noodle at Restoran Yee Fatt, Jalan Kampar.
This is the only place that I will order dry curry noodle with curry chicken with bbq pork (char siew). I like their thick curry gravy.
Skinny, under nourished Celtuce Lettuce.
First time growing this. I should have sowed the seeds in a bigger pot.
What a waste, I left the Celtuce Lettuce to grow until it flowered. I finally got rid of them when I tidied up my garden yesterday evening.
These are my taro plants. Hope to harvest some taro from these plants.
Stewed chicken feet with dried shiitake mushrooms, carrot and etc.
This is one of hubby's favourite dishes. Sorry, it may be gross to some people but this dish is packed with collagen. The chicken feet provide plenty of cartilage and tendons which is good for the skin and help to relieve joint pain.
Blanched broccoli and carrot, drizzled with garlic oil, oyster and soy sauce.
Instead of steamed rice, I cooked dried non-fried instant noodle (Cintan brand).
We finally had our booster dose 10 days ago. Thanks to a dear friend, we got our preferred booster dose from this place. Let it be 3 doses of the same type. We reached there about 2pm and joined the short queue with only 4 to 5 people before us. Let this booster be the last!
Yes, our natural lives will fade as grass does
when it becomes all brown and dry.
All our greatness is like a flower that droops and falls;
but the Word of the Lord will last forever.
And his message is the Good News that was preached to you.
