Gulai Lemak Udang (Prawn Curry) & Roasted Pork For Dinner

We had a lovely sunrise on this particular morning.

Lovely pink sunrise.
Took these snapshots on our morning walk.

Beautiful sunrise.
~~~~~
We walked to our regular coffee shop for breakfast.
We shared a bowl of fish noodle.
Polo bun sandwich with ham and fried egg for sharing.
I ordered herbal tea and hubby ordered unsweetened coffee (kopi-C kosong).
~~~~~
After breakfast, we visited an old friend who came back from KL during the Hari Raya weeklong holiday.
We met at a food court near to her place. We ordered cold drinks and our favourite snack. The days pass by so fast and we want to appreciate every moment together.
~~~~~
Home cooked dinner.
Gulai lemak udang or Prawn curry with turmeric and coconut milk. I used belimbing buluh and pineapples. This was suppose to be a one dish dinner.
Just as I was halfway cooking the prawn curry, my neighbour handed over some roasted pork. When the prawn curry was cooked, I handed over a portion to them.
A blessing that we are neighbours.
Ixora flowers from my garden.
It was in a semi shaded place, now we have moved it to an open space without shade.
The LORD himself watches over you!
The LORD stands beside you as your protective shade.
Fish Noodle & Kai Si Hor Fun At Kopitiam Huan He, Ipoh
We started out for morning walk at about 6:50am.
Dawn at 6:50am.
On the reverse side, view of Kledang Hill.
Sunrise at 7:18am.
No rain for about a week and the weather is getting warmer.
This usually happens before the Lunar New Year.
One of our regular coffee shop has shifted to this new location.
Kopitiam Huan He, Jalan Ng Weng Hup, Taman Pertama, Ipoh.
We usually order the above fish noodle with extra wine.
Price per bowl of fish meat noodle is RM9.50
Some customers prefer fish head noodle.
All their fried stuffs (liew) such as stuffed bean curd sheet, fried wonton, tofu, etc. are specially made by them.
Another favourite is the above shredded chicken and prawn noodle (kai si hor fun) from another stall. I will share food from 3 other stalls in future posts.
This place is one of our favourite whenever we crave for nice cup of coffee. Sometimes I order unsweetened coffee, which is coffee with evaporated milk without sugar (kopi-c kosong), of black coffee (kopi kosong without milk or sugar). Once in a while when the weather is hot, I will order iced coffee. If you are not a coffee fan, you can order their milo kaw kosong.
On certain days, we will change our walking route and get to see this dog. It will be sleeping or sitting on the roof of its owner's car.
Sometimes it will just watch us walk pass. Sometimes it will bark at us.
Don't be weary in prayer; keep at it; watch for God's answers,
and remember to be thankful when they come.
Goodbye 2021, Hello 2022
Happy New Year 2022!
We had a simple home cooked dinner at home on New Year Eve. Too eager to start dinner that I forgot to snapshot the dishes I cooked. Nothing special. I cooked bbq pork belly (char siew), stewed chicken feet with dried shiitake mushrooms, blanched 1 green (choy fah) and stir fry beansprout. We will be having the leftover with noodle for lunch later.
New Year Eve Blessings from a friend who came to visit us.
We were blessed with fragrant biscuits or Heong Peah bought from Taiping,
and pandan layer cake from Klang.
Pandan layer cake is one of my favourite cake.
We enjoyed this cake because it is not very sweet, just nice for us.
It says here that the pandan layer cake has to be consumed within 3 days.
We need to finish the pandan layer cake before we can start to taste the fragrant biscuits.
Hubby bought some deep fried stinky glutinous rice cake (nian gao) for our friend to try.
He also bought a few pieces of deep fried taro slices.
This time I remembered to take a snapshot of the sticky, gluey glutinous rice cake sandwiched between thin slice of sweet potato on one side and thin slice of taro on the other side.
~~~~~
Breakfast on the 1st Day of New Year 2022.
Fish Noodle wine extra wine added,
plus some fried stuff,
and 2 bowls of herbal tea.
~~~~~
The following photos were taken a few months ago.
I heard dogs parking and when I looked out I saw these beautiful dogs passing by led by their owners.
The owners were taking their 3 dogs for a walk and when they walked past, other dogs were barking at them.
This was on another day.
The dogs caught sight of a cat which ran to hide under the truck parked by the roadside.
The dogs were restrained from going after the cat that was hiding under the truck.
A wise man restrains his anger and overlooks insults.
This is to his credit.
Stewed Duck, Steamed Tilapia & Stinky Bean With Minced Meat
This was another hot and humid day. We woke up late, an excuse to cancel morning walk.
We need to support our regular noodle stall.
We bought fish noodle for breakfast.
Cockscomb flowers from our front garden.
These are self-propagating and doesn't need much care except to water them.
~~~~~
Dine-in dinner.
We reached the restaurant and chose an open air table. The tables were spaciously placed apart from each other. We were early and there was only 2 tables with customers.
Soup in individual bowls.
We ordered veggie (pak choy) in superior soup.
Sambal stinky beans with minced meat.
Stewed duck.
For the above 3 dishes, we requested for small portion.
Steamed black Tilapia with spicy bean sauce.
Total cost of dinner was RM110, including 4 small rice
and hot water, we brought our own Chinese tea.
Sunset at 7:40pm.
Once we finished our dinner, there was no chit chatting.
We put back our face mask, checked out from the place and got into the car.
We reached home early, in time to take these sunset shots.

When I look at the night sky and see the work of your fingers -
the moon and the stars you set in place -
what are mere mortals that you should think about them,
human beings that you should care for them?
Yet you made them only a little lower than God
and crowned them with glory and honor.
You gave them charge of everything you made,
putting all things under their authority -
the flocks and the herds and all the wild animals,
the birds in the sky, the fish in the sea,
and everything that swims the ocean currents.

Muruku, Rempeyek Kacang & Chee Cheong Fun

This was a Sunday.

Sunrise at 7:15am
After morning walk, we drove out to buy fish noodle for breakfast.
This fish noodle has Chinese cooking wine (Shaoxing) added to it. For extra oomph, I usually add in bird's eye chilies to the soup.
While hubby was waiting at the fish noodle stall, I walked down to the other end of the row of shops. Then I saw my favourite snacks at one of the stalls. I bought 1 packet of muruku @ RM5 per pack. The muruku was fresh, crunchy and not hard.
I also bought 1 packet of rempeyek kacang & ikan bilis (peanut & anchovy crisps).
Fresh, crispy and very addictive.
Green brinjals from my garden.
Fat and short purple brinjal.
Our neighbour bought 2 sets of steamed rice noodle (chee cheong fun) for us. 1 set normal chee cheong fun and 1 set Hong Kong chee cheong fun and some fried items.
The curry gravy was packed separately.
After pouring the curry gravy over the noodles.
Surprise! Our neighbour also bought our favourite snack for us.
Hubby and I munched to our hearts' content.

O God, I beg two favors from you before I die:
First, help me never to tell a lie.
Second, give me neither poverty nor riches!
Give me just enough to satisfy my needs!
For if I grow rich, I may become content without God.
And if I am too poor, I may steal and thus insult God's holy name.
(Proverbs 30:7-9, The Living Bible-TLB)
