This was a Sunday.
Sunrise at 7:15am
After morning walk, we drove out to buy fish noodle for breakfast.
This fish noodle has Chinese cooking wine (Shaoxing) added to it. For extra oomph, I usually add in bird's eye chilies to the soup.
While hubby was waiting at the fish noodle stall, I walked down to the other end of the row of shops. Then I saw my favourite snacks at one of the stalls. I bought 1 packet of muruku @ RM5 per pack. The muruku was fresh, crunchy and not hard.
I also bought 1 packet of rempeyek kacang & ikan bilis (peanut & anchovy crisps).
Fresh, crispy and very addictive.
Green brinjals from my garden.
Fat and short purple brinjal.
Our neighbour bought 2 sets of steamed rice noodle (chee cheong fun) for us. 1 set normal chee cheong fun and 1 set Hong Kong chee cheong fun and some fried items.
The curry gravy was packed separately.
After pouring the curry gravy over the noodles.
Surprise! Our neighbour also bought our favourite snack for us.
Hubby and I munched to our hearts' content.
O God, I beg two favors from you before I die:
First, help me never to tell a lie.
Second, give me neither poverty nor riches!
Give me just enough to satisfy my needs!
For if I grow rich, I may become content without God.
And if I am too poor, I may steal and thus insult God's holy name.
(Proverbs 30:7-9, The Living Bible-TLB)
LOL, I would be so lost in your place, food-wise.
ReplyDeleteMy Mum would´ve LOVED your place, she was a true "fish-head".
Thank you, Iris. Not everyone appreciates fish heads.
DeleteI love rempeyek. We have very good ones here but made to order, can't just go and buy and must see whether the person is willing to make or not. Not that convenient.
ReplyDeleteAt last I found one in my area selling rempeyek. No need for me to search for it.
DeleteYour food always looks so incredible! Have a great day, Valerie
ReplyDeleteThank you, Valerie. Have a great day too.
DeleteThe rempeyek kacang & ikan bilis (peanut & anchovy crisps) looks very crunchy and crispy. I am sure you can eat a lot at one seating since it is so crispy. The brinjals look good, I love to eat brinjals. May you have continuous bountiful harvest of brinjals! Your neighbour can read your mind. Last time buy nasi lemak and now buy rempeyek on the same day as you did. Is it the same neighbour?
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mun. Yes, its the same neighbour.
