Steamed Blended Ginger Chicken & Stewed Plum Sauce Fish Head

2 Days In 1 Post

8th June: While waiting for 7am to start our morning walk, I swept the porch area.

Sunrise at 6:55am.
Returning from morning walk at 7:50am.
Hubby bought fish noodle with wine and some fried goodies.
1 portion of noodle for 2 people to share.
Simple lunch.
1 curry puff was eaten before snapshot.
Boiled pre-soaked chickpea with screwpine leaves (pandan leaves), ginger slices and salt.
~~~~~
Dinner
Dinner for 2 people.
Steamed chicken with blended ginger.
Gave some to neighbour.
Lotus root and peanut soup from neighbour.
Steamed home grown green eggplant (brinjal), okra, and snake beans. Drizzled with garlic oil, oyster and soy sauce. Gave some to neighbour.
Leftover steamed blended ginger chicken, kept for tomorrow breakfast.
~~~~~
9th June - out on our morning walk.
Almost deserted road.
A busy road with heavy traffic before lockdown.
Very few walkers and very few cars on the road.
For breakfast, we had noodles, blanched baby Chinese kai lan with the leftover blended ginger chicken from previous dinner.
Growing chilies in my garden.
Grown from store bought chili seeds.
I have to harvest them before they ripen.
They tend to rot easily when ripen.
Will be kept in the fridge until they are needed.

Dinner
Neighbour bought us stewed sour plum fish head plus a slice of fish.
Fish head for me and slice of fish for hubby. Very flavourful and delicious.
Blanched baby Chinese kai lan, drizzled with garlic oil, oyster and soy sauce.
Yummy dinner with plain rice porridge on a warm evening.

In the heavens God has pitched a tent for the sun.
It is like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber,
like a champion rejoicing to run his course.
It rises at one end of the heavens
and makes its circuit to the other;
nothing is deprived of its warmth.

Peanut Jam, Instant Noodle & Stewed Fish Head With Noodle

There are some days when I prefer to have a simple breakfast, something like toast with peanut jam and black coffee. Hubby prefers toast with coconut jam (kaya). Not convenient to go to the market to buy coconut milk (santan) because of the lockdown, so for the time being no home made coconut jam.

The small bottle of peanut jam that I bought is almost finished. I remember I had some peanut chunks in the fridge. I had better use it to make peanut jam while it is still fresh.
The peanut chunk is enough to make the above 2 containers. One for my neighbour and one for me. This time I reduced the amount of olive oil and honey, so it is a bit thick.
This green and yellow Coleus is doing well and seems to be very happy with the weather.

Lunch
Hubby was feeling hungry but lazy to go out to buy food. He ended up cooking a packet of Maggi Mee and added in 1 egg.
My neighbour came back from her weekly grocery shopping and blessed us with a comb of banana. Sometimes, these bananas have seeds.
~~~~~
Dinner
My neighbour ordered stewed fish head for us.
Hubby doesn't know how to enjoy fish head, plus he is not a big fan of fish so I ended up having the whole fish head to myself.
I cooked dried noodle to go with the fish head.
Then I tossed the noodle with the gravy from the stewed fish.
Fish head stewed with chopped ginger, fermented beans (taucu) and chilies. Fortunately, it was not a big fish head, so I had no problem finishing the whole thing. So what did hubby had for dinner?
It was a Friday and he happily went to buy the above. The peanut sauce was packed separately. It consists of fish balls, fried dumplings, fried prawn fritters, pig skin, blanched water spinach, fish cake and tofu.
This was after the sauce has been poured over the ingredients. I don't know what it is called, but hubby and I referred to it as Pasar Malam Rojak, something similar to the Mamak Rojak.
If you are wise, live a life of steady goodness
so that only good deeds will pour forth.
And if you don't brag about them,
then you will be truly wise!
Dinner At Restoran Kok Thai & Leaning Tower In Teluk Intan
This is the 5th and final posting for our one day trip to Bagan Datuk. From the biscuit shop, the bus took us to the new Restoran Kok Thai in Jalan Kastam, Off Jalan Maharaja Lela, Teluk Intan where we will be having our dinner.
 Most of us were not really hungry because we had a late lunch.
Plus, my friend and I ate a piece of Teochew kuih on the bus.
 For starter, we were served a bowl of appetizing soup with ingredients such as white tofu, salted veggie, tomatoes, seaweeds, etc.
 Followed by the above plate of Ice Vegetable salad as an appetizer. It's a first time eating Ice Vegetable for most of us and we enjoyed it very much. I am going to keep my eyes open for this Ice vegetable the next time I visit the supermarket.
 I think this is deep fried tofu cubes stir fried with diced beans, dried prawns, onions, and etc.
 Fried tofu with toppings of minced meat and spring onions.
 Tender chicken meat stir fried with yellow, red, green capsicum and carrot.
 Fish head in clay pot.
 Deep Fried Prawns
 Crunchy Deep Fried pork knuckle. It was served with the meat separated from the bones. Sweet sour chili sauce for dippings. Overall, it was a good dinner with flavourful and tasty food. Most of us enjoyed the dishes without eating much rice.
 The night scene with the lighted up leaning tower of Teluk Intan was the final highlight of our one day tour. I took a video to show the changing of colour lights but it didn't turn out well.
And finally, a group photo in front of the leaning tower for our album before we headed back to Ipoh.
I take this opportunity to thank every one in this tour group for a wonderful trip. "Thank you" to the people concerned for organizing the tour, pre-ordering of the snacks, taking photos, and those that I didn't mention here. Thank you, Stella for introducing this tour to me and also not to forget the bus driver and partner for the smooth and safe ride. Hope we can get to enjoy more tours together and may God bless you all!
Let the peace of heart that comes from Christ be always
present in your hearts and lives,
for this is your responsibility and privilege as members of his body.
And always be thankful.
